Disappointed

The team looks far more balanced to me now. I came online just wondering if there'd be complaints about the lack of signings and it didnt take long to find some. Some fans need to get a grip here i think. Two young hungry players bought in and an experienced central defender . Morgan is solid at centre half , my forest mates at work were singing his praises last year but now its 'take 'im hes shit anyway' , but boy are they pissed !!!!! i trust Pearsons team far more than i ever did Svens !!

I still dont understand the Wes Morgan signing.

Pearson likes an old school no nonsense defender, Wayne Brown last time he was here Wes Morgan this time I assume.

I'll let you know if i'm disappointed when I have seen all the new signings settle in and play. If they don't improve us then i'll be disappointed, if they improve us then i'll be extrememely happy

The only thing im worried about is the amount of CB's we have - the only reason i can see we have 5 is prehaps pearson wants to play with 3/5 at the back or maybe push bamba up to Midfield and tunchev may have a reoccuring injury. But otherwise i can see some unhappy fullbacks in the near future.

To those that are disappointed compared to last year, who did we sign last January? We got a load of kids on loan and Bamba. Vassell was a free aganet and signed before January, Ricardo and Uchechi came in after Jan, all the rest were loanees and a lot of them were kids with no premiership experience and look where that got us. Even if Marshall and Drinkwater don't make an impact this season they are our players and will come good next season or the season after.

I am underwhelmed by the signings but not disappointed*, we haven't signed a star that is going to walk in to the first team, but that is because we were unable to find anyone to come who was better than what we have. In terms of financial stability and long term goals we have made 3 solid signings, it is now up to NP to use them correctly.

Was generally excited when the transfer window opened but am I the only one who's been left disappointed?

Drinkwater and Ben Marshall LOOK promising but I still don't feel we have strengthened enough to see us challange for the play offs.

I was hoping Steve Walsh could pull off a couple of master classess and find us a few hidden gems but instead we've been left with another center half and a striker who will only be here for another 3 weeks!

Another winger, possibly a center midfielder and a target man are still needed IMO.

Hoping we can now use the loan market but that's defeating the object of building a squad.

I'm happy the owners haven't been held to ransom by greedy agents!

Sharp will regret his move to Southampton and feel lucky that we've escaped a potential bad buy there, and I'm only slightly disappointed that we didn't inquire about Jay Rodriguez but he seems happy at his home town club so let's move on

just spent around £3mill (reportedly) and would have gone to another couple of mill presumably if Stewart, vardy or whoever were willing to come- added to what we spent in the summer- and mindful of the spending cap coming in- some people's expectations are hard to meet

If you're disappointed you should probably consider supporting Manure.

Yeah it's disappointing in as much we all like the excitement of new signings, but it would have been even more disappointing in the long run if we'd bought in a load of tosh for the sake of it.

I can see where people are coming from when they say they are disappointed, because under Sven, we were constantly linked to big names and big prices, it was all very exciting, it was like playing Football Manager lol.

Now, though, some people need to come back down to planet Earth and reality.

I'm pleased with our signings (in theory), we havent been held to ransom and we went about our business fairly quietly. The deals we struck dont smack of desperation, or signing a player just for his name, as we were doing last year. They seem to be well thought out, scouted and the types of player Pearson wants and thinks will improve the team, both on and off the pitch (as long as Marshall keeps his pecker in his pants now haha).

I just hope they all gel in to the team together as much as we all want them to.

Come on City! Woo and yay!

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't hidden gems, relatively unknown players? The exact description of Drinkwater and Marshall.

To be expected from the principle cheerleader of the 'NP Out' brigade.

You have to laugh at this thread, people disappointed because we've bought an experienced CB in Morgan, Drinkwater who's been tipped for the premiership and so far looks great, and Marshall who's been tipped as a future England star.

Precisely .

People are drawing their own conclusions about the new signings before they've had a chance to prove themselves .

One thing's for sure ......if Peltier & Beckford are passed fit ......and presuming that NP selects the same side ,our bench will probably read Logan,Drinkwater,Delfounso,Morgan & Marshall. Considerably stronger than last week ????

But they're not Beckham or Henry

I think we will have fitness issues, apart from Peltier and Beckford, Gallagher was clearly not fit on saturday and only played because we were very thin, Konchesky looked tired and (I thought) a bit 'frazzled' and Wellens is always a worry fitness wise.

That said, we had a relatively easy game on saturday whereas 'Boro had a really tough local derby a day later, we really should be the fresher side....... :fc:

Dissappointed, not really a two footed winger, scums best defender, a tidy midfielder and a Prem Striker one loan looks to blanace up the team sheet. It will be intresting to see what shape the team takes and my only concern is if DD is seen as cover/replacement for RW who will be the two wide midfielders.

We can't really say yet because we haven't seen anything of Marshall and very little of Drinky & Fonz.

We all said the midfield needed strengthening - CHECK

We all said we need a winger - CHECK

A lot said we need a replacement for Howard - CHECK (I reckon the Fonz loan will be extended)

I'm a bit confused about the Morgan signing though like many fans.

Typical Pearson signings, won't buy for the sake of it and won't pay over the odds like Sven did. The starting 11 looks very strong although perhaps the Squad is now looking a bit thin but I think we did enough in this window to give ourselves a good shot of getting a play-off spot.

Players like Beckford and St Ledger will be like new signings for us if they can continue their form too.

Would have liked another winger and perhaps a CM to cover King but I'm sure Pearson may well look for a loanee of two to give us some more competition on the bench!

Bring on Boro tonight!! A win there and we truely are back in contention!!!

Come on man..3 wins on the bounce, Beckford scoring goals, 5th round of the cup and a host of quality new players! These are good times and you'd do well to recognise that - If you can't I'm afraid you're doomed to live an unhappy life.

Apart from cover, Morgan brings the "strong man" quality that you sometimes need in a CB; it will be interesting to see if SSL & Mills can cope with Jut... this evening. He also brings leadership & organisational abilities to the defence.

I'm very pleased with the window signings. Yes, we still lack a strong imposing CM, and maybe one or two others, but remember there's the loan window. We also need to beware of bringing in so many new players that the positives are outweighed by it destabilising the squad. If we haven't quite enough to make a promotion push this season then that's a shame, but so be it, next season will be really exciting.

I am really confident that we're pushing on now with Pearson; hopefully, not overconfident. And, at the risk of queering our pitch, I'd point out that if we win this evening then it will be 4 on the bounce, the elusive back-to-back league wins at last, 4 points from the play-off positions, and only 10 from automatic (the ailing Southampton!).

Reality check needed for some supporters, the owners have spent a fortune and its not a bottomless pit of money, I am happier now that the balance of the team will be better with Drinkwater Wellens Dannes and Marshall across the middle, get some decent crosses in and Nugent and Beckford will score goals, the defence looks tight now as Pearsons teams usually are, and we have a class keeper, things are looking better.
