Not happy.

They killed Pyp and Grenn!? How the hell have the writers managed to kill more characters than GRRM!?

I'm not sure we'll be able to feel the support for Jon so much now when he is made lord commander!

In the books he's ~8 and she's ~16. On the show I think he's probably ~13 and she's ~20?

Apparantly they have upped the ages of all the major child roles in the TV series by 4-5 years to get around the obvious problem that would come from the Daenerys/Khal Drogo sex scenes... though of course they could have just had them get married and not had any sex scenes.

Ygritte dying pissed me off but didn't surprise me. Never gonna end well. GRRM loves murdering hope and happiness…and characters.

Snicker.

Really likely.

Finally gave in and started watching it. Currently on the fourth episode and I'm hooked!

You should probably avoid this thread until you've caught up, there are many many spoilers in here, and it will spoil it if you know what is going to happen.

I've decided there is too much to fit in this episode. .. to where I thought they'd finish? Not sure what'll happen now?

Why do they need to fit anything specific in? It doesn't need to finish exactly where a book does or anything like that.

No but you expect certain story lines to reach a satisfying point for the end of season, such as Tyrion, Arya and the Hound, Jon and the Wildlings, I think they could all progress in the season finale and there should be enough time, I also think we should have a bit of Bran, he is currently stranded the other side of the wall where there are Wildlings and White walkers.

Dany, Theon, Sansa and Stannis are at fairly stable points, Brienne and her quest will probably be next season.

Have I missed anyone? Sister Greyjoy? I feel like they don't know what to do with her and the Ironborn, in the books there are a lot of chapters about them and Pike, but I feel like they are seen as expendable,

To the non-book reader (i.e. me) I feel the Stannis story is leaving us hanging. So far the names put into the fire have died, he's got the money from the bank and we had the premonition that he was going to fight up North. Yet we haven't seen anything for the past few episodes and would be a little disappointed not to know what he's up to (unless it's because all the other stuff that's been shown has happened concurrently).

I think most of the loose ends were tied up there. Good place to end the season.

The moment Tyrion refused to go straight out the door and escape I knew where he was going and who he was going to kill. Also very excited about the idea of Arya finally becoming the mass-killing assassin she was always going to be. And also Stannis getting back in on the action (hope that was satisfying enough for you, shen).

But what the fvck are the Children? :P

For your question at the end...

the Children of the Forest were the original inhabitants of the continent of Westeros before humans came, they taught humans about the Old Gods and greenseering (Bran's magic) and helped humans build the Wall and fight away the White Walkers. They are basically the elves of the Game of Thrones universe, and like elves their motives are dubious.

Indeed it was :) I also expect some other viewers had a similar justice boner to the one I had towards the end! The shit will properly hit the fan now, won't it? :D

I didn't want to give away that Stannis would be involved, but I expected this season to end with him arriving at the wall to protect the nightswatch, along with Arya getting on the boat to Bravos and Tyrion killing Tywin.

I'm surprised that Bran has already reached the tree, be interesting to see if he develops much next series as he has only reaches the tree in book 5

As for Dany, I feel they are skipping through her story and not really developing the relationship between her, and her dragons, Jorah, Daario and the people of Mereen. Dany in Mereen was a bit dull in the book, but it could have been improved upon in the series, but instead they are skipping through it quickly.

Surpised Phube hasn't commented on Brienne's fight with the Hound yet...

I cant help but feel completely disappointed by Tyrion's story ending. In the books it's one of the greatest scenes I read and makes you go "**** yes Tyrion". Everything about the buildup, I thought, would be so exciting but nope. The TV show just whitewashed over it.

Everything else was awesome though.

I was disappointed  we didn't get the reveal about Tysha, that was kinda crucial.

Exactly, that moment is heartbreaking in the book. Plus Tyrion telling Jaime that he killed Joffrey just to upset him was juicy. I dont even know what will happen now.

I completely forgot about Stannis going beyond the wall, so that was the nearest to a shock this season. Apart from Pyp n Grenn :(

It's always difficult to judge what is and isn't shocking in the TV show, having reqad the book, I was shocked that Shae was in Tywin's bed, considering his constant bemoaning of whores and whoring, Tyrion then killing her with the chain of the hand, I hope it came across as well for those that haven't read the books.
