Very good episode, although I wasn't shocked by much of it, the ending was inevitable.

I almost knew Stannis was going to kill his daughter, especially when he sent the Onion Knight away, although I though he may have tried to smuggle her away

Yeah, he's a dick in the programme.

Book Stannis is also entirely pragmatic and his views on the Lord of Light are not strong. He firmly believes in the likely event of his death Shireen is the rightful heir and constantly reiterates to those who serve him they should fight for her claim if such would happen.

I think this comes across too in the series. He constantly questions Melisandre and her belief in the Lord of Light. It is interesting that Selyse and not Stannis is the one that breaks during that scene. He's a desperate man doing desperate things.

This lord of light bollocks is so tedious.

Then again, Melisandre's predictions have been true all along (in Stannis' eyes at least). The Light magic that has given us the shadow baby and the resurrection of Beric Dondarrion. It is true enough ;) Besides, this gives another meaning to the title of the books: A Song of Ice and Fire.

He definitely did.

In the series, he definitely does (not). You hear his wooden sword dropped to the floor as Arya escapes. Unless you see a severed head (or crushed in Oberyns case), you cannot count on people being dead. Surely you should know this by now :D

When Sir Davos comes back from castle black and finds out what Stannis has done he is going to go Beserk, He might murder Mel or maybe leave Stannis for good because he see's what he has become. Something major is going to happen anyway

We see plenty of magic being used throughout the series that have all been attributed to certain deities. Greenseering and the Old Gods, resurrection and R'hollor, Faceless Men and the Many Faced God, Mirri Maz Dur, the Warlocks of Qarth and the Maesters of Old Town have cast a spell or two. Magic in a fantasy series is not proof of a certain religion in the world being right.

I can't see him sticking by him after that. Possible switch of allegiances to Sansa/Rickon after some soul searching?

They really played up his relationship with Shireen this season, even if he doesn't leave Stannis somethign serious is going to go down.

But it's life (light, fire) vs. death (night, ice) ! We're getting a showdown with these two :) Surely that's not excrutiatingly 'boring'

I like the idea of Syrio Forel having many faces, but the amount of pages/screen time that has passed since his brief spell in the first series it would lose a lot of impact as a big reveal. Unless they revisit this a bit more, such as Arya starts training with Jaqan and he fights in the same way and there is some reference to Syrio, otherwise he is a largely forgotten character and her hatred of Meryn Trant is just as forgotten, I had to Google it to remind me why he was on her list.

Have no idea where they are going with stannis's story, played him as the good guy at the start of the season to this. after seeing the trailer for ep10 i have this feeling Sansa is going to die and become the new lady stoneheart, i also have no idea what they are going to do with Davos now work for the starks? he wont work for Stannis any longer thats for sure.

He has the same depressed look in his eyes when he was back at Dragonstone when he lost the Battle of Blackwater, I thought he was a strong leader but he looks totally confused and like he is glaring off into space all the time, don't see where his story is going with HBO

Laughed at the ending, how cheesy was that. Also fed up of how useless the Unsullied seem to be.

Good episode though, it would have had to have been crazy to top episode 8.

I thought this, aren't they meant to be these amazing warriors? Seems everyone can beat them.
