That bert guy loves beckford.

I'm just putting out an alternative view. Personally he should've been in the box, but he wasn't. Drinkwater wasted the free kick with a shit shot and beckford would've made no difference being in the box.

Maybe I do talk cock and bull, but I'm free to say what I want as you are when you post the tripe you do.

'tripe'...

lol

Stop it, you got me quaking in mi boots...

I'm sorry Bert but you're 'alternative' view is about believable as Pearson publically stating his undying love for Mr Mills...

lol

So... it was a different Beckford that I saw sprint the majority of the length of the pitch to help the defenders from a counter-attack on Saturday? It was a different Beckford who chased down the Hull defence on a fair few occasions while we were down to 10 men last weekend, and, if I recall correctly, created that brilliant chance for Drinkwater by putting in the effort and putting the defence under pressure?

He may not put the effort that the likes of Waghorn did at times, but to just lambaste him on that he doesn't spend all match haring around like a dog chasing it's tail is more than slightly pathetic.

He had every right to be frustrated and fed up after running back to defend. However, the time to voice those concerns is 90 seconds later in the dressing room. Not on the pitch.

It doesn't matter that the free kick was going to be a direct shot either. If it came off a post or was palmed back into the area then I'd want our strikers there to pounce. 2-0 and 1-0 losses are the same at this point in the season for us. It's points we need.

To be fair Bert could have a point. Who would you sooner have in the box all your defenders and midfielders who will win the ball in the air or Beckford who never jumps for a header? I'm glad Beckford stayed back what happened if they cleared it and would of ran through 1 on 1 if Beckford was in the box. He can easily out paste a striker and win the ball back from stopping them scoring. Also if they cleared he can put the ball back into the box!

I agree with Bert

So Beckford doesn't play well in that formation. Does nugent? People seem to be desperate for reasons to hate JB, when Nugent has also had an awful run of form recently (but I still like nugent, as I'm not one to make short-term judgements....)

I have read over some of these posts and got the general vibe of what is going off.

As soon as Pearson came in you feared for a potential clash with Beckford. I do not know the lad personally but the way he originally orchenstrated himself on the pitch was one of a fairly moody striker.

I hesitate to call him lazy. People kept telling me Yakubu was too lazy and I told them that sometimes its uselful to have a guy that hangs around scoring goals upfront rather than running around like a headless chicken. People couldnt believe he was in ahead of Waghorn because like someone has mentioned some of our fans seem to think if a player doesnt cover about 50km a game they are not trying hard enough. I'm sure you would all agree, i'd have given an arm and a leg to have Yakubu this season. 11 in 20. Would Pearson like him and his style? Possibly not. Maybe this is a negative of Pearson. You could say the same with Gradel. Pearson has always come across "round pegs in round holes" type of guy.

One comment though that has stuck out for me, is "Pearson will never be a top manager". I completely disagree with that. Just because he has his flaws doesnt mean his style cant bring us great success. Look at Lambert at Norwich. Hes a motivator rather than

tactician. You could even say the same of O'Neill. I know this is taking it a bit far but Ferguson is similar in some ways. Fell out with Tevez who lets be honest is (when hes in shape) a world class striker and would still fit into the United team. I've always thought that when SAF has come up against a great tactician he has struggled to cope, more in europe, but hes the master of his own motivational style and has still managed teams to great success.

For a team to be successful everyone has to be pulling in the same direction and believing in what they are doing. Pearson is the manager and having played under Moyes and Grayson surely Beckford is used to a little graft and discipline. I find Pearsons recent tactical change as baffling as Finners does but I do retain faith in Pearson to get things right because we have seen he can do it before. Given a pre season I think we will finish in the top two next season. And no, I didnt say the same about Sven, in my preseason prediction I had us down as 7th.

All in all Beckford should not be ignoring the managers orders however this does not mean he is a bad player, or indeed lazy. I hope they resolve it because it seemed like Pearson was beginning to bring the best out of him.

And for the record completely agree with the guy criticising Danns. I always encourage players rather than berate but its ironic that he a)gives the ball away doing a turn on halfway for Fryatts goal b) does the most senseless double footed lunge to put the result in jeporday and also means hes out for three crucial games AND then the crowd give him a standing ovation with an everybody danns now thrown in at the final whistle . . . I loved it . . . but I wonder what they would have done if it was Wellens or Gallagher . . .

Wellens or Gallagher make a tackle, let alone a two-footed one? :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh:

In fairness to Danns, he was clearly unfit that day and should never have played.

Back on topic, I see Lee Jobber gave Beckford 3/10 in today's Mercury. As Jobber is on tonight's moan-in we can safely assume the lynch mob will remain in full cry..

As opposed to Cliff's usual 9/10 for everyone?

So you are suggesting that Beckford didn't get forward because he was concerned that they may break from OUR free kick and score a second goal. When we were already one down.

You really do talk some old cock and bull Bert...

lol lol

so do you the anti beckford , mills, gallagher , wellens you really need to change the record col city fan

It's not important who you, me or bert would prefer to see in the box - clearly Pearson wanted Beckford in the box and he didn't go. that's the problem .... the manager isn't being listened to by one or more players .... So he has to fall out with another player and move him on .... And get another hungry young lad with something to prove in instead - because they are the only type of player that Pearson can motivate or handle.

Got to agree with you mate, regardless of what anybody else thought about the situation, if Pearson wanted Beckford in the box, Beckford should have gotten himself into the box. You can't go against your managers wishes like that and expect to come out of it unscathed. I doubt Pearson would have been too happy with good old Jermaine.

Beckford is class, it's the midfields fault for not playing the ball to him properly! He wants the ball played in over the top, behind the defence so he can run on to it! That's his game, and that's how he likes it and he has scored so many goals so who are we to question him. We need someone with a great pass on him, we had wellens but he's past it now imo! And danns has so many qualities but the through ball isn't one of them; and as for Kingy, we know that he's a goal scorer far more than a supplier! NP should be looking at a championship equivalent of Wilshire or Fabregas, a young player with a killer pass!

These threads about Beckford will never stop, nor will Youngy's hate for him.

Time we move on and accept that people will not accept Beckford, even though IMO he is a top class player.

It is down to the manager at the end of the day not the fans imo he is worth keeping as he scores goals is he better than Howard you betcha, better than Waghorn yes he is, I have my doubts that he can work with Nugent although their partnership in the 4-4-2 formation was looking quite promising.
