  1. 1. How Long Did You Lurk Before Mustering Up Courage To Post?

    • Years - It looked scary in there.
      4
    • Months - I had a passing interest and then someone said something stupid so I was like, "Bam!"
      11
    • Weeks - It was just a matter of time before my voice was heard.
      10
    • Days - The club was in turmoil, I was interested in finding what people thought, but then I had to tell them.
      7
    • I dived straight in - I came here to make a point, so I did!

In the Improving Your FoxesTalk Experience thread there been some talk of how long people lurked before eventually posting in here, so I'm interested in finding out how long people typically do lurk before posting. I fall into the last camp as I logged in here to make my point (it was at the end of the 2006-07 season when it was rumoured Nigel Worthington was on his way.) straight away. My brother posts in here (though he's got a heck of a lot less posts than me and most commonly posts in the music thread.), so that's how I was aware of it.

So how long did you lurk for... and if you're still lurking - COME ON DOWN! :D

A Google Search on the Baby Squad actually brought me to Foxes Talk. There was a terrific argument going on between some kid claiming to be a hool and a couple of others, Barton might have been involved actually, splitting hairs over the difference between casuals and hooligans. It made me laugh but I didn't sign up.

In fact I didn't really read much else at all until a couple of months later, not sure what brought me back. Then I signed up and I think I pretty much dived straight in.

I'd just got broadband when Mandaric was rumoured to be interested in a takeover. I searched the internet to see if anyone knew anything that wasn't in the papers and found this place. I spent an hour reading the boards and decided to join.

It was probably me

How long has the LCFC forum been that bad by the way? It's actually unreadable now.

I think some people come on here as WUM's and realise that WUMMING gets you nowhere in life and evolve into serious, respectable posters who genuinely have something to bring to the table. I think Ibbosuk was like this except on a grander scale!

You were probably involved but I'm sure BF was knocking on about different clothing brands and Aberdeen casuals in Europe and some shit, I can't remember now.

LCFC chat has been horrific for most of this season, especially since the second coming of Nige.

I've completely given up now, not looked at it since the aforementioned thread. It's woeful.

You're trying to say that ibbosuk is a serious respectable poster with something genuine to bring to the table, except in a grander way?

I found FT after I moved to Spain (at the start of the League one season) and was pretty disillusioned with the Foxes, after a few months in Spain I was missing my Leicester fix, so found this forum to keep me up to date on what was happening, I didn't join until the end of that season though probably to join in some of the elation and speculation on the coming season. So I lurked for a half a season, then I didn't post much during the following season, it was all fluffy and good, and mainly used the forum to find links for streams. Then NP went, Sousa came the Thai's came MM went, Sousa went, Sven came and I got very frustrated after finally feeling my Leicester were back it had been taken away from me. I ended up flouncing off about half way through that season just so pissed off at the attitude in the Leicester City Forum.

I came back at the start of this season when things were fluffier and more optimistic and I have taken to cherry picking the posts I read up there for my own sanity, and find it much more pleasant down here, I really wish the people up there would lighten up, there have been a few funny threads but in the main it is just depressing.

I was a 606er and didn`t know about this site until someone posted a link. Had a read of things and joined on the day.

Its the funny side of FT that makes it a worthy waste of my time.

I think I dived straight in although I don't really post too much. I used to have a different account but when my computer decided it had forgotten the password I had to make a new one. At the time Uncle Monty had a plan to flood the forum with Uncles, hence the user name. It didn't really work out, but it'll happen sooner rather than later though.

That's how I found out about it... only I lurked for about two years, so I kind of knew what kind of characters were on here before posting. I remember laughing at quite a few of Zingari's posts before I joined.

606 was generally only slightly less worse than the main forum is lately.

Used to be on 606 as well but hadn't lurked on this forum anyway.

My brother used to frequent it quite a bit but doesn't anymore; he'd talked about it every now and then and I think that's what got me to sign up, without knowing what I was signing up to lol.

Lurked for a long while then leapt in to the defence of Henry the post-horner. Seemed like everyone under 30 wanted rid of the poor old bugger in favour of a crappy Kasabian CD

and look what happened

It was around the Forest cup match in 2007 (the abandoned match), saw a strong debate about it and decided to sign up a few weeks later.

Was on 606 but soon got fed up with that, idiotic Coventry fans ruining virtually every thread.

You do get some idiots on here but not on that scale.

The was a Leeds fan that was ALWAYS WUMming on the Leicester boards on 606 who was a pain in the arse.

The Coventry fans that used to come on just to rate every topic one star were unbelievable sad.

I apparently signed up about three years before I actually started posting anything, and it was only with a name change that my juices really started to flow. After a fairly innocuous comment about football attracted an excitingly abrasive retort from a 'respected' (ho ho) poster (that like O'Neill with the Sheffield United game, I have pettily refused to forget) I remembered that although football is quite good in some ways there's nothing more boring than people talking about it, so I've tended to hover around General Chat ever since.

Here you go.

The thread that got me to sign up. http://www.foxestalk...181-baby-squad/

That's amazing, I can see why you got drawn in, you're only human. It's like taking an exhilarating voyage through the heart of youth culture of 2004. You can almost smell the different groups. Chavs! Casuals! Goths! Skaters! Which one are you? You've got to be one of them, politely standing aside is not an option. A fascinating insight into the pre-Credit Crunch world

Dived straight in and got me opinion across! Whether it is right or wrong.

Some of the threads and posts I've seen over my 5 years on here have been quality.

Never lurked. Set up my account and couldn't log on for a couple of weeks due to mental password block, and laziness, but moved over after BBC 606 went in the van to go live on the farm. I was on there previously from its previous form and on there far too much for my own good.

Made the transition here and mostly enjoying it :D
