Milan Mandaric

Hi Ladies and Gents, i'm a Wednesday fan in peace. (Fancy gi'ing us Ben Marshall back?!)

I understand that opinions on Mandaric are mixed at your club to say the least. The club went through a relegation etc that i know of.

I was hoping though that you could post me positive things about him and/or his reign at Leicester City. Anything you can think of.

Best wishes for next season; hopefully it will be a good one for teams in blue and white eh?

Thanks.

TBB.

He likes to meddle rather than leave it to his managers. That aside, he came in at a low point and arguably got us back on our feet, from a financial point of view, so it wasn't all bad.

Used to local press to spread lies about the club in order to pressure shareholders into accepting his miserly offer.

Oversaw the worst point in our clubs 130 year history taking us down to league 1 after appointing 3 managers in a season and backing the worst one to the hilt.

Here's one I wrote earlier....very earlier

Who Really Wants a Milannaire?

My opinion hasn't changed.

Welcome back to the CCC btw.

Thanks SF.

We made a bit of a meal out of it unlike you did in League 1, but we've got there in the end.

It probably would have been a lot more straight forward if you hadn't have taken Marshall. :P

I can feel the love already... :pearson:

There must be some positives?! He's a decent guy right? Left the club with decent owners? (Unlike Pompey.)

More luck than judgement. He'd have sold to anyone who could give him a profit.

We won't know how good these are until they have left.

So far we are in the same position yet owe 57 million and are running at a massive loss, it's not a glowing endorsement of them at the minute.

He's ok by me. He put some money in, gave it a shot but in the end it didn't quite work out. I don't think he has the financial clout to really make much of an impact anymore, but it's enough to keep you safe and you might have a shot at the prem if he finds a good manager who he likes and is willing to stick by. I think the problems will come when he sells you. We appear to have been fairly lucky. Pompey weren't, you might not be.

He'll have sold you or be in talks to sell the club this time next year. Now you've got promoted he is seen as the saviour and has the opportunity to double his money as he did here. Just hope he leaves you in good hands.. he didn't at Pompey and look what happened there.. I'm not so sure about the guys we have either. If they walk away we're fooked.

He saved us, he appointed NP, he sold us to much better owners. Thats about it.

I dislike the man because he paid next to nothing for the club, and got 40 million back, the people who initially saved us got no reward or their money back in the end. And his bullshit to the press wore thin.

He struck lucky with the owners we got, he just wanted a large figure for the club and didn't actually care who it was as long as he got the money. But I have to thank him for selling to our current owners who are quite good at the moment but granted they're not perfect(don't let scare mongerers tell you otherwise)

Stopped us from going under

No he didn't.

You'll probably end up paying a fortune in agents fees and you literally can't believe a word he says. He's not malevolent but he's a does try and spin to the fans what they want to hear whilst doing the exact opposite behind the scenes only for you to find out months later.

But they've given Pearson a bigger transfer budget than Mandaric ever did.

I don't believe he saved us from folding but I'm yet to be convinced that, without his money, impetus and drive we'd have stopped our slow decline towards the bottom of the table. Of course, his interfering and poor club management took us down anyway but we went down with a reasonable squad that his money assembled and we launched ourselves back upwards with enough cash injected to go on to make an impact in the Championship.

Without him I just think we'd have slipped away in to League One one season and, in all honesty, stayed there.

That's not to say it was uniquely Mandaric that saved us from this fate or that he brought any great attributes that any other rich backer could have given, the club was just in good need of a shake up and any businessman with wealth could likely have done that.

All in all I'd say, as a football chairman, he's poor. He's not as wealthy as we all imagined, he's only interested in selling the club to turn a profit, he interferes far too much at squad level and his business acumen just seems - in hindsight - sloppy by comparison to the Thais.

Ever since we were relegated from the Premier League in 2004, we kept finishing midtable/bottom half of the Championship and I think we would have eventually been relegated to League One regardless of whether he was at Leicester City, or not. His money assisted us though, but sadly we still had a load of poor players. I still believe he saved the club, and although the relegation to League One was sad, it looks to have been the turning point.

Milan appointed Nigel and then sold the club, as he will Sheffield Wednesday, but he sold Leicester City to good owners.

He appointed Pearson, he did well but still managed to force him out.

It was the Thais that forced him out they wanted a big name manager hence Sousa their guest at the playoff semi finals..
