Dan Posted 28 August 2013 Posted 28 August 2013 Nah as in fairness, I actually had to cut my squad if anything so fair play, they didn't expect promotion (sounds a bit familiar...) This year I've basically been given £100k and no extra budget, so in effect it's next to nothing, made five additions and I'd say promotion is well in the balance. Does help that I haven't yet kicked off the season this time they do expect promotion. I'll be very disappointed if I don't go up to be fair.
Ozwin Posted 28 August 2013 Posted 28 August 2013 I want to start a game where I have an absolute bastard in midfield as my captain who gets sent off 5 times a season. I want to break some records. Who's the most aggressive, intimidating player you've seen on this years FM chaps?

Obvious choice but everytime I've had Vidal he's ruined seasons for me with the amount of times he's got sent off. On a side note, hate to be that guy, but I want a new team in Europe who should smash their league (preferably a fairly obscure one) but with a lot of room to improve in Europe. I'm thinking Basel or Copenhagen at the mo, any suggestions?
Salieri Posted 28 August 2013 Posted 28 August 2013 Only just got round to playing this, not getting much joy at the minute. What formation(s) are people using?

Problem is I'm just a bit convinced I'd get bored as there aren't enough European games in a season. I was also worried all my best players would constantly be trying to leave but I think Walkers said that in fifty odd years only one requested a move to a bigger club? Interesting if true.

Hmm, De Rossi is amazing, phenomenonal ball winner but not sure he's as aggressive as you want, plus he's getting on. He certainly fits the stereotype though. Plus Roma have an AMAZING number of -8 and -9 talent potential wonderkids on the books if you can be bothered to sort the massive rosta. Permanent underachiers, too, which should make winning titles satisfying.
indierich06 Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 I had a Leeds save on this year's game where Rodlph Austin got sent off 6 times, 4 of which were straight reds. Absolute nob.

Yes and he was one of the few kids I signed cheaply from South America and by far and away the best player i've ever had (attribute wise, he was pretty good on the pitch too..) Once he hit 21/22yo he was forever a 5 star player which was a first for me. He wanted to leave so I promised him we'd win the CL within two seasons. I failed to do that and the day after I was knocked out he handed in a transfer request but a few months later he asked for him to be taken off the TL and has been happy ever since. All my good youth products were very loyal and asked for no more than 15k p/w at the peak of their careers. I had a lot of people wanting to leave because they felt they couldnt achieve much more at the club but they were easy to keep. Kept promising them Europa League qualification within two seasons
LCFC FOX Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 2017 Reading Goalkeepers Alex Smithies Júlio César Defenders John Flanagan Tomas Kalas Scott Wootton Siyanda Xulu Christopher Samba Paul Rog Kieran Gibbs Hajime Hosogai Midfielders Tom Cleverley Jay Spearing Jem Karacan Gael Kakuta Nathan Redmond Santi Cazorla Keko Andriá Carmona Strikers Anthony Knockaert Lukas Podolski Daniel Sturridge Mason Bennett Nice team putting together with a few decent gems in the under 18's. Not to sure if anyone else is needed
The Doctor Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 Just find someone with high aggression and crap tackling stats, set him in a ball-winner role and tackling hard. The reds should role in.

This is why I wish they'd let you be an actual manager, so it's not like some Sunday League footballer just walked into one of the top 50 sides in world football haha.
Finnegan Posted 30 August 2013 Posted 30 August 2013 Set your status to former international if it bothers you. Makes little difference passed the first season. And you get so little money at Italian clubs that it's not as easy as you think, especially if you set your sights on Europe. Totti is old, De Rossi is old and the rest of the squad are bang average. Oh and Jose Mourinho and AVB were both nonplayers, no? And Steve McLaren?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 30 August 2013 Posted 30 August 2013 Came from 3-0 down going into the last 20 minutes against AC Milan in Italy to draw 3-3 with a Nam-Tae Hee leveller in the fourth minute of stoppage time - sending my Grasshoppers team into the knockout stages of the Champions League, at the expense of Milan. Qualified from a group including Milan, Spurs and CSKA Moscow. This has eclipsed any previous honour in my life to date.

Oh and Jose Mourinho and AVB were both nonplayers, no? And Steve McLaren? Napoli was ridiculous. I got £2.5mil at the start of my second season yet they topped it up by about twenty million on two different occasions, so about £45mil over the whole season. Started very strongly with Nantes, I'm 2nd after about 7 games, unbeaten but there's a slight problem in this league - although Monaco have finally fvcked off (at our expense), St Etienne have somehow managed to drop into the league and hang on to the likes of Hamouma, they will slap this league silly.
Finnegan Posted 30 August 2013 Posted 30 August 2013 Fvck the old firm, I've shipped Hartlepool and Carlisle off to the SPL and brought the Edinburgh derby south. Yes I'm that bored. Sunshine on Leith, let's do this!
Tom17LCFC Posted 30 August 2013 Posted 30 August 2013 Started with Anderlecht earlier, decent enough team, good youth facilities and potential to do something in Europe after a few years. Breezed through the CL qualifiers, and get put in a group with Real Madrid, Dortmund and Shakhtar. Horrid.

Finnegan Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I've just found Neal Bishop at Notts County, have a look Ozwin. He starts the game aged 31 but he's exactly what you're after.
Bugg Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I don't know if he's there on fm13, but Neil Montgomery at Sheffield United was an absolute bell end for getting sent off at crucial times for me on fm12.
Dan Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Holy crap. I've somehow managed to get to the cup semis with Nantes and we've only gone and drawn our arch rivals Rennais away.
Dan Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I won 0-2 And sensationally, Amiens have beaten PSG in the Semis. The trophy is ours to lose as far as I'm concerned.
munf1987 Posted 3 September 2013 Posted 3 September 2013 Halfway through my 8th Season with Southampton. Won the prem 3 seasons in a row and currently top, 10 points clear after 22 games in my 8th season. Won the FA cup x2, league cup x2, Prem x3, Champions league x1, super cup x1, charity shield x2 (i think), world club championship x1. Bank balance is healthly, currently getting 60m + a season to spend which i'm struggling to do so. I tend to spend the money i've made from selling the older players Anyone think of any ideas to make the game more interesting as i think it's starting to get abit to easy now? first 2 prem titles went down to the final day, 3rd title i won with 3 games left but it was tight up until the last 10 games. Keep selling 2/3 of my first team each season and bringing in a youth. If you ever get the chance to get Will hughes, get him. I managed to pick him up on a free in the 3rd or 4th season from Derby. He is now 24 and worth 33mil. Fierro is another one brought him for 4m and hes worth 31mil
The Horse's Mouth Posted 3 September 2013 Posted 3 September 2013 Going into my fourth year at Sparta, capped off a perfect season three trophies and invincible in the league, despite that a poor performance in europe. I'm most likely going to let my contract expire the following season to find a new challenge.
