Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 August 2012 Posted 1 August 2012 And he actually has a personality, unlike most sports people. I think that's one of the major things in his favour.
purpleronnie Posted 1 August 2012 Author Posted 1 August 2012 I think that's one of the major things in his favour. I would hope so, although I do wonder sometimes, it seems anyone with an opinion or displays any self confidence is usually disliked....bland does seem to be attractive for the majority.
Amin Posted 1 August 2012 Posted 1 August 2012 I thought Wiggins would win today but he didn't just win, he destroyed the TT today. Tony Martin is a class act, so to beat him by 40 seconds is incredible.

Trav Le Bleu Posted 3 August 2012 Posted 3 August 2012 So... what does everyone think? Are we a bunch of cheating, beef eating, politely queueing, monarchy loving, scumballs? Should Hoy be stripped of his knighthood? Why did we allow a kraut to spoil it all? (I'm not talking about the Queen.) One thing's for certain... Hindes should have kept his mouth shut.

Whats all this about Trav?
Simmo86 Posted 3 August 2012 Posted 3 August 2012 Whats all this about Trav? Hindes admitted to falling over on purpose to get a restart because he wasn't happy with his start
Trav Le Bleu Posted 3 August 2012 Posted 3 August 2012 This story this morning. london-2012-philip-hindes-crash That's not an exclusive to that paper, it's pretty much on all the news. I have to say, when the crash happened I was worried that we'd blown it. However, it seems that there's no rules to say they can take the gold away and no one is actually saying it should be, but understandably the French want the rules changed. Myself, I think it's not exactly in the spirit of the Olympics, but it's not as bad as what the badminton players did - at the end of the day the spectators got to see the best teams race each other and the best team won. Hindes was silly really and who's to say we wouldn't have won that heat anyway, even with the poor start?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 5 August 2012 Posted 5 August 2012 2/11 at the moment....still seems like easy money if you have the funds. Oh and whats with 'the thrones' tacky or what? Could be pushed by Murray though, if he wins the US open (only major left this year) on top of being a Wimbledon finalist and (Double?) Olympic champion, in a slightly more prominent sport.
Guest ttfn Posted 5 August 2012 Posted 5 August 2012 Could be pushed by Murray though, if he wins the US open (only major left this year) on top of being a Wimbledon finalist and (Double?) Olympic champion, in a slightly more prominent sport. Considering the depths that have been plumbed in recent years (Giggs, Phil Taylor finishing second), the choice this year is ridiculous. In any other year any of Wiggins, Ainslie, Ennis, Farah or Murray would have run away with it.
Tielemans63 Posted 5 August 2012 Posted 5 August 2012 PH actually admitted that when he lost his balance he made sure that he went down instead of trying to regain it as that would have been more costly. Obviously the media have put their spin on it. What he did is really not that controversial. He was just a bit naive to think discussing it in public was a good idea.
Bluefoxtim Posted 5 August 2012 Posted 5 August 2012 Does anyone actually understand this omnium? Nope. Makes me cry.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 5 August 2012 Posted 5 August 2012 Does anyone understand how the Decathelon or Heptathelon works?
shen Posted 5 August 2012 Posted 5 August 2012 Does anyone actually understand this omnium? It's not that complicated. The scratch/sprint races are a bit confusing to watch as you have to keep in mind who's a lap (or more) ahead of the others, but basically it's a race to finish first. Riders get points according to their final positions in the 6 different events (i.e. first place gets 1 point, second place gives 2 points etc. Rider with least points at the end wins, just like in sailing). Superb stuff by the Danish rider to get 6th in that race after that crash with Clancy.
Out Foxed Posted 5 August 2012 Posted 5 August 2012 i think in hindsight, he'll really regret saying that.
ScouseFox Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 No idea what this events called but it's proper exciting. One cyclist gets eliminated every two laps for being the last rider across the line. We've got a girl in it doing well.

ScouseFox Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 It's part of the Omnium which is like a cycling version of the Heptathlon/Decathlon. I've worked it out now with some help from google. That elimination was fun to watch. And we won it.
leicsmac Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 "We are Team GB cycling. Lower your visors and surrender your bikes. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile." Ruthlessly efficient, thus far. Great stuff.
