Wellens.

Stringer didn't say but I read a Sheffield journo describe it as "short term". So a month i'm guessing, possibly until Jan.

A month until November to get match fit will do him no harm at all.

Excellent news.

Plus one for NP.

It would be an excellent time to add a new signing now ... the side's doing well, but just let them know they can't be complacent.

Oh yeah, let's just bring in someone new for the sake of it.

I think the key to our consistency of late is that the starting line up has been more or less the same for every match. I think the last thing we need to do is start bringing in players to disrupt that and start tinkering. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Yeah and consistency is great - but it comes with a danger of complacency ... and we simply don't have the quality outside the first 15-16 squad members to sustain a campaign when injuries and suspensions start to make a difference. Now's exactly the time to strengthen for me - into a competitive winning environment. We're a work in progress and the next step should be taken which is to replace just one of the 5-6 faces we've now got rid of or that are on their way out.

If Danns departs we're going to be looking a bit thin!

I've got a feeling Danns will come back into the team. Think he'll have a Sean St Ledger-style re-introduction to the team - he pissed off Nige, got dropped and hopefully will work his way back in. If James continues to be hot and cold I can see Danns getting his opportunity.

Oh and good luck to Ritchie - the stick he gets on here is pathetic sometimes.

Woah bit surprised by this.

No Wellens, no Danns cause out of favour.

The squad is as bad as Portsmouth's if Wellens goes on loan.

Shocked, plus he said no loan signings coming in, Pearson is doing a good job, but god knows what has been going through his mind regarding transfers.

The squad, a point off the top of the second flight is as good as one hit by recklessness, currently a couple of points off the relegation zone in the 3rd division?

Sorry, I don't get your logic

Unless you're confusing volume of players for quality of a close knit unit fighting for each other?

Nothing like Foxestalk to get people completely polarised ....

We're not as bad as Portsmouth because a couple of fringe players leave .... but being temporarily on a good run won't last the season without a signing or two to replace the exodus of (fringe) players ..... there will be suspensions and there will be injuries - now's the time to strengthen to cope with that - give time to settle in to one or two new players.

Not what im quite getting at.

Just confused when Pearson said he wants to work with a squad of around 25 players, while at the minute we only have 20 players but basically 19 as Danns ain't getting a look in, and Gally, Hopper, Beckford and now Wellens are out on loan.

The squad is doing a brilliant job, but the depth is pretty worrying.

But Wellens (whose transfer has been denied by Danny Wilson), Gallagher and Danns are all our players and Gallagher is only on a short term loan. You think if we had injuries Danns wouldn't feature still?

It's relief - means he can't feature!

Only in the short term, he might come back.

Besides, that's really 'excellent news' to you? That's the kind of season-making deal you've been waiting for is it?

Even when we sent Ryan McGivern back I wouldn't have reacted like that. And Wellens hasn't been the disaster that that guy was.

Of course I can't answer that, but if we did have injuries I doubt he would start.

He isn't even on the bench, so basically it's another Beckford saga maybe brewing again.

If there was a little incline that Danns could get a place back in the team, then Pearson would put him on the bench, but he isn't even on that and it seems Pearson prefers Waghorn, Futacs and Schlupp on the bench rather than Danns.

Pearon's tone when he speaks of Dann's and Beckford is not warm or positive, he usually gives an abrupt, concise statement about him picking the best team/sqaud and its up to them to prove to him that they are wotth a place. I have no inside information on their relationship whatsoever, but things clearly seem strained between Pearson and these two to put it mildly.

That's what the emergency loan window is for. Lets wait and see if any are needed first. Identify targets for those situations by all means. But there is no need to actually bring them in yet.
