Greatest moment in Leicester City's history

Recommended Posts

Posted

Founding of the club in 1884

Election to the Football League 1894

First ever Cup final 1949

First foray into Europe 1961/62 Cup Winners Cup

Highest ever league finish - 4th 1962/63

First Cup Trophy win League cup 1964

Charity Shield Winners 1971

First Wembley Cup Win League Cup 1997

Pretty poor list really when you consider it covers 128 years.

Worst moment in our history getting relegated to 3rd tier for the first time in our history 2008 after 124 years

Can you edit the 97 one please, it doesn't count as a Wembley cup win as we won it at Hillsborough

So we did but it was still our first ever single game Cup final win as the previous 1964 win was two legged home and away.

Technically we needed two games in 1997.....

I know, and it's not just you, but the thread is for the greatest moments in our History, not just personal highlights, my greatest moment was probably watching my first game, but a 3-1 victory over Barnsley in 1992 is not going to be high in the clubs history of greatest ever games.

Why are you so controlling? Is it born out of something? The greatest moments in the clubs history CAN be a subjective thing you know?

We are all of different ages, with different experiences of following the club.

I don't think so - your greatest moments as a fan is different to what this thread is supposed to be; which is about the greatest moments in the club's history.

For it to qualify it should be a really significant moment. A match that you enjoyed going to is obviously not necessarily going to be a defining, important or iconic moment in the context of the whole club.

But anyway I'm swimming against the tide so talk about what you want :P

Sorry but some suggestions are ridiculous. An equaliser in League One as the club's greatest moment?

We are not blessed with too many real highlights but it's pretty obvious what they are.

I don't think it's any biggy but no stipulation was made in the OP?

And earlier I suggested the biggest moment, for me, was Steve Thompsons equaliser. Cap Shrap said it wasn't in HIS top ten. Shows the subjective nature of the thread, for me, and the OP was then going to set up some sort of poll I believe?

The thread, at this stage, wasn't: 'try to pin down THE biggest moments in the clubs history'.

Or at least I didn't think it was?

Anyway, as I said, no biggy.

James goal Vs Oxford

Leicester 5-0 Cambridge

Thomo's equaliser Vs Swindon

Walshies winner Vs Derby

Claridge's winner Vs Palace

Claridge's winner Vs Mboro

Marshall's goal Vs A Madrid

.

Were my most memorable moments.

James goal to keep us up. That enabled the club to change direction as Little came in & took us into the playoffs time after time & got us up - that enabled the good years that followed. Without James goal we would have gone down & could have disappeared

Quite right, i'd put the Tranmere game in my little list because I was there to see us finally lift a major trophy at Wembley

Controlling lol you make me sound like an abusive boyfriend.

Sorry Col, I was just having a bit of laugh with Kitchandro at some of the ridiculous suggestions on here, he started it, I was just reading it shaking my head until he popped up, tell him off, he encourages me.

It's not fair!!!

The first trophy winners of the new millenium too, no less. Seems like a lifetime ago now since that O'Neill team!

Yeah, time perception gets weirder as you get older. In terms of supporting the club, that team does seem like a lifetime ago but in terms of the rest of my life, 2000 seems like 5 minutes ago

Gordon Banks famous and stupedous save from Pele, in a World Cup match against Brazil,

All these years on I can still visualise it, and still cant believe he made it,!

That's Stoke's greatest moment. ;)

Seriously? You don't feel any emotion watching back videos of classic moments? Steve Walsh's winner v Derby brings a tear to my eye and I was 2 years old when it happened.

Nope the honest first thing I think is this is shit quality video

That I can't deny, but I had all the 90s season review videos on VHS growing up so it doesn't matter.

Giving a free goal away to Forest after the Clive Clarke abandonment and still beating them.

That showed class. Not every club would have done it...

I'd have thought "Greatest moment in history" would be the big, landmark occasions for the club.

Some of these are Memorable moments for fans individually rather than the overall history of the club.
