Alexikokopops Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 Wayne Brown. But he deserved it. And Levi Porter if rumours are to be believed
Alf Bentley Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 Footballers lead tawdry lives these days, don't they? Hanging about in naff clubs at 3am, arguing about mobiles... I remember a couple of years back, on a sunny Sunday afternoon, I went up to the Old Horse (Victoria Park) to have a relaxing beverage in the pub garden - and half a dozen first teamers were lounging around a couple of the tables there. Wayne Brown had this odd-looking little dog with him, like a Jack Russell but off-yellow in colour, and he was bigging it up, mouthing off and taking puffs on a Havana cigar! Can't imagine that NP would've been impressed with that. Then him and Tunchev were up throwing a frisbee around and getting the dog to chase it. Brown had to climb over the fence to fetch the frisbee and on the way back he snagged his jeans on a nail and they ripped a bit, revealing his union jack boxers! Chrissie Powell was thumping the table and pissing himself laughing (this was before Brown's BNP disgrace), though Powell had had 1 or 2 Old Peculiers by then. Hobbs and Oakley kept their heads down, to be fair. I think Hobbs was summoning up the courage to talk to a girl at a nearby table (he seemed quite shy), while Matt just kept sipping a glass of red wine and talking to this elegant looking woman in a slinky red dress. A few years before that, one Monday night I went into the Castle Tavern in Hinckley on karaoke night - and who should be up there belting out Bonny Tyler's "I was lost in France" but Lilian Nalis! A couple of youth team lads were trying to persuade Dabizas to get up and give a rendering of the Bee Gees' "Greece is the word", but he wasn't up for it. The old days, eh? Tell the kids today about incidents like that and they wouldn't believe you!
Captain... Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 And Levi Porter if rumours are to be believed Missed those rumours, was he a BNP supporter too?
Itsthejoeker Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 Missed those rumours, was he a BNP supporter too? Dressing room
5waller5 Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 Dressing room Oooo that rumour passed me by completely!!!!! Interesting!!!
Captain... Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 Dressing room  Really!!! Any more info, was it ever actually proved? From wiki: Following his release from Leicester, it has since been reported that Porter has been playing for Sunday League team, Wigston Car Breakers. Still only 25, what a waste of a career.
dmayne7 Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 He was a talented lad and Left footed; he missed out big time
5waller5 Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 The thing that I heard about him was that he lived with some pretty undesirables around the saffron Lane and seemed to like being the big shot in their lives instead of applying himself. Shame. Some people just don't have the mindset for success, maybe that was him.

Dan Posted 4 December 2012 Author Posted 4 December 2012 Loved Porter at the time I did Mind you he was in a side that had absolutely zero FLAIR or excitement so it probably took very little to impress.

We had them in the county cup a few seasons back, he was there with his mates on the sidelines necking a stella before a half 10 kick off. Playing in the Melton league that was one of our more intimidating away days!

I've just signed for Kirby Muxloe and former leicester player Brett Darby plays for them.
Guest MattP Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 I've just signed for Kirby Muxloe and former leicester player Brett Darby plays for them. Played up front with him in my teens. Sound lad
Guesty Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 I went school with Brett Darby, I agree, nice lad. Pity it didn't work out for him. I remember when he was on Blue Peter cause of his football.
Guesty Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 Back on subject. I spoke to a lad I know earlier who is friends with the lad whos phone Knockaert hit. His friend said what happened was basically he asked for a picture. Knockaert said yes. Then he kept following Knockeart around taking pictures bugging him. His friend said he was smashed and he was probably being quite annoying. Obviously it's from another party so it might not be true. But that lad who told me isn't the sort to to be lying and I trust what he told me he thinks is true.
RonnieTodger Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 I have just googled those places you name, completely out of touch with bars in town. XY is the old Lizard Lounge. The thing that I found amusing on the XY web site was the 3rd floor VIP area where you have to pass through a fingerprint regonition to gain entry. Are they for real? This is Leicester we're talking about here not Hollywood. I made a typo. I actually meant "to be fair I've not been in any of them mentioned places apart from Republic". I'm 18 nearly 19, so I'm not familiar with all of them. Normally go in places like Highcross for starters, then Yates's and other bars on Belvoir Street
promised land Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 I made a typo. I actually meant "to be fair I've not been in any of them mentioned places apart from Republic". I'm 18 nearly 19, so I'm not really out of touch. I'd rather spend my night with people no more than 7 or 8 years older than me as I'm sure people in there late 20s+ wouldn't want to be near young'uns. I'm fully aware of what XY is also, thank you very much. I've been in Superfly before. No I wrote That as I am completely out of touch with bars, clubs in Leicester. I have Not been intown for a beer for a year or two. Apart from Time bar.
mrmanns84 Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 Republic has slightly upgraded since the dirty Zanzibar days let them go out and have fun if they are producing results....lads will be lads no matter how much they earn
emmo1987 Posted 5 December 2012 Posted 5 December 2012 Got wigston car breakers in the Billy Walton so will be coming up against him. I've just signed for Kirby Muxloe and former leicester player Brett Darby plays for them. Went to watch coalville town away at kirby muxloe. And brett darby played. But id say the two stand out players for kirby was the other forward. And the left winger who was quality
