I think people rate Keane a bit too highly given what we've seen of him.

All three of the games he's played in (not including Bolton) have been somewhat easy for the team to win. Burton are two leagues below us and the scorelines against Bristol City and Huddersfield tell their own story on how those matches played out.

I've been pleased with what I've seen so far but I realise that I'm not getting the full picture of what he's capable of - the Middlesbrough game will allow us make a proper conclusion on his ability.

He didn't look out of place playing for Man U against a full strength Chelsea

Leicester City are hoping to sign Torino's Valter Birsa. You heard it here first. #ITK #LCFC

:o

If you have seen him play you would realise he is a very good footballer.

Can be used as a winger or forward, and would be our Vydra.

But Whitbread and SSL looked poor against burton in the 4-2.

So your point makes no sense.

United let in five goals though. I know it was a bit of an odd game but I remain unconvinced. I'm fairly confident in his ability but I'm going to wait until the Boro game has finished until I make my mind up.

I was just surprised that is all if true that we are able to get a player of his caliber than Dyer's days are numbered.

Yes, i was surprised too, and had to double check it was the birsa who played in the world cup, it was.

Unlike Sven's big names, this guy would be relatively cheap in wages, and would likely earn less than wood, nugent etc.

There is no ****ing chance we're going to sign Valter Birsa.

Why??

The slovenian captain plays in this league, and birsa may want to come to english football.

Sorry, how is where Koren plays relevant? Is the captain of a national side automatically considered a side's best player then, to the point his team mates can't play at a higher level?

Oh good, the Burton defeat is brought up again. The 2nd least important game of the entire season and still people want to criticise players for that performance.

Let me ask you something, are we to judge the entire team on the Burton game? Well dear me if we can't beat L2 opposition then what hope do we have of even surviving in the Championship this season? Oh, 3rd in the league. It was so clearly a freak result that it actually hurts to point it out.

You can't judge players on the 4-2 defeat, the players and management didn't give a total effort in that 90 mins (as shown by the team selection). I'd ask you to look at the competitive games to assess our players - the matches that really count, the ones where players really try - they're the ones that'll give you a real indication of Keane's ability.

Well it is simple really, if birsa moved here then at least there is someone in the country he knows and gets along with.

And no, the captain isn't always the best player, but is often the most influential and the biggest name.

So what you are saying is....

'you can't judge keane on the performance against burton, bristol and huddersfield', because they don't 'really count'.

But you cannot judge the performance of the team which played Burton because 'not everyone tried'.

Well what that does tell me is that...

a) you have double standards

b) 3 points against boro is worth more than those against huddersfield and bristol....really??

c) Keane clearly has a higher level of professionalism then, he never took his foot of the pedal against burton.

Firstly, no, at no point did I say the Huddersfield and Bristol City games didn't matter like the Boro game matters. I only suggested those games were fairly easy.

I went on to say that defenders should not be judged by their performances in easy(ish) games as they haven't been properly tested e.g. Huddersfield and Bristol City. Was Keane really tested against in the games he's played? I don't think so. All I want people to do is stop praising players for performances in games that aren't that difficult.

Noting your point about professionalism - I'd blame Pearson for that, his team selections against Burton in the League Cup differed significantly to the one that played in the FA Cup, it is extremely clear to me that one of those games mattered more to him and that message will have been received by the players in both of those matches.

EDIT: Apologies, I realise what I wrote could have been misinterpreted - I didn't mean to say the Huddersfield and Bristol City games don't count. When I wrote "competitive games" I should've put "League games" - my fault, sorry.

Possible target for City, Adam Smith, full back whos loan spell at Millwall from Spurs finishes at the end of January. Oh how they we love us if we signed hom.... ;0)

Cannot see that happening not when we have Da Laet at RB and Liam Moore for cover.

Don't we have a goalkeeper with the same name?

It will be Whitbread down the pecking order, not St Ledger.

You keep telling yourself that.

You keep telling yourself that.

I will.

Why the hell would a player who was on form, and playing really well before he got injured now become fourth choice, when Whitbread is the liability and we have lost too many games with him in the side?

We haven't lost a single game when Morgan has partnered Keane or St Ledger, I think that is brilliant tbh.
