Callabinho Posted 6 January 2013 Posted 6 January 2013 I received a phone call from Muzzy one day whilst sat cursing at my university work, too bloke! It was the highlight of my three years there, that and meeting one Mr. Johnny Marr!
Guesty Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Wasn't worth starting a new thread and this was the first Muzzy thread I found. He's the main guest on The Fantasy Football Club tonight at 10 on Sky Sports 2 for anyone whose interested. Should be interesting to see who he picks in the all time 11 of players he's played with.
Beliall Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 I met him at the hilton when I worked there. best day ever
Bluetintedspecs Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Definite Legend, brilliant player and proper top bloke!
Neil_LCFC Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Seen him in a strp club on yeoman street one Saturday night after a game when he was playing. Top player
Bert Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 My all time hero. Will always be my favourite ever player.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Seen him in a strp club on yeoman street one Saturday night after a game when he was playing. Top player Did he look good naked too?
Meltonfossefox Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Muzzy without doubt would be in my all time city 11
Out Foxed Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 met him a month or two ago. he was a bit worse for wear, didn't say much but was nice enough. still need to try that izzet ale they made.
Kitchandro Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Dat volleyed goal vs Spurs at Filbert Street. First time I came. Defo my favorite ever Leicester player. I came when he drove past me the other day in Fleckney. That's how much I love him.
jonthefox Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 Served him in McDonald's a couple of times You must work in the town hall square one then. Iv'e seen him in there a few times. Nice bloke, always has time for you.
Ric Flair Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 I had a few beers with Muzzy last night. He was on that Fantasy Football programme on Sky with Merson. Ended up going the boozer with them all afterwards and I know he's my hero but what a man. You don't get footballers like Izzet anymore, proper nice blokes and his stories are mesmerizing. Also, he's said that Layton Nduwku whose in our academy is the best kid he's ever seen. Hes making Merson watch the game on Sky tonight especially. Don't want to get our hopes up but we might have a serious piece of kit on our hands.
ScoutMan Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 Wasn't the reason he didn't play a lot for Turkey something to do with not doing National service and they wouldn't pick him for a long time because of that. Surely Muzzy would have got in the Turkish team otherwise, even though they did have a good midfield. Yeah originally Muzz had to do National Service for Turkey before he could play for there National team. He didn't do this for a few reasons including O'Neill's warning about his future City career. I think the rule was abolished in 1999 and then Muzz didn't need to serve the army. The only thing that stopped Muzz then was injury.
Collymore Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 Saw the pics on Facebook Ric - Awesome! I've played with Muzzy before and can vouch what a proper nice bloke he was. Shared a beer after and I said to him "you must have passed me the ball every time you got it!" his reply "I knew it was your one moment and I wanted you to enjoy it" Legend.

Collymore Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 Hahaha brilliant. You'll be pleased to know that Collymore is the best player he's ever played with. Yeah I saw he had him in fantasy team! Was laughing when Merson and that host were unsure of Pontus!
bovril Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 The line up for that Sunderland game... Flowers, Elliott, Lennon, Izzet, Heskey, Collymore. We'll never have a team with such talent again.
HitchinFox Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 The line up for that Sunderland game... Flowers, Elliott, Lennon, Izzet, Heskey, Collymore. We'll never have a team with such talent again. Wouldn't be so sure about never having that again. That is a great line up, of course, and we haven't had that much talent on show since - at least at any one point in time. But if - and it is a massive if - we do get promoted, I can see the Thais giving Nige the money to go after some decent additions (á la Southampton this summer) and when you look what we already have, we might yet have something to shout about. Not there yet, but the likes of Moore (20), James (22), Knockaert (21) and Schlupp (20) might yet be Premier League regulars - certainly no lack of talent there. Add to that the slightly more experienced guys we have in King (24), Schmeichel (26) and Morgan (29) who've already attracted interest from PL sides but are untested at that level, you never know. I still think Schmeichel is a much better keeper now than he was when he played for Man C in the Prem. I'd love to see how Wes would get along against top quality strikers week in week out. I for one am loving this season, there is a buzz around the club now. Most importantly, the players are playing like they have a purpose. Getting rid of dead wood has certainly helped and the fact that there is a lovely mixture of youth and experience is a great asset. The core of the team is now roughly the same age, with a few old heads thrown in. So while I agree completely that the teams we had under MoN were the best we've had in the past four decades (and I look back at the MoN years wishing I hadn't taken them for granted, enjoyed them a bit more), I am genuinely positive about our future as a club.

I think what I most love about the MON squad is that he totally built it himself. He plucked izzet from the chelsea reserves, Elliot from Oxford United, Lennon and Savage from crewe, guppy from... was it Port vale? Gerry Taggart was hardly an established name either. . and although Pearson seems to be doing the same, it will be interesting to see what happens when we get to the prem. I think the Thais will demand he splash the cash and although it can work it will go against everything Pearson is trying to achieve.... especially if , as I suspect, a couple of 'big name' signings will come as a surprise to him. im totally excited about the future but its too early to compare this to the MON days...

You're right of course. Maybe what I meant was that, even if we do spend vast amounts of money on comparable talent (because lets face it, in order to get players of that quality in these days we would have to spend big) it wouldn't be the same. As MPH said, O'Neill built that team almost from scratch with players plucked from near-obscurity. I doubt I will feel a connection to a team in the future as I did to that one. Maybe I'm just becoming a boring bastard. And while I'm thoroughly enjoying watching the team at the moment, I don't think any of those players you mentioned come close to the stars of that late nineties team. I'm not sure I can see any of them playing regularly for a top 10 Premiership side, maybe only Moore and Knockeart have the potential.
