Blackpool Post Match 0-0

Very disappointing. We always really controlled the game and should have won.

Wood had a real stinker. Never really linked up well with anyone and his passing was poor. Doesn't win enough headers ether.

His penalty was woeful. Truly shocking and no one should blame the pitch. All he had to do was keep it down but he leant back and smacked it. Should make the keeper work at least.

Not sure why Marshall didn't take the penalty. Certainly wanted to as heand Wood both went for the ball. He and Nugent have scored from the spot this season so why change that.

Can't blame NP. Players let him down

Probably about even now then after betting on us to get relegated huh?

1) I didn't bet on us to get relegated

2) I've won in the region of 40 times my biggest ever stake. Huddersfield win, Peterborough win, Charlton win, nil nil today. And that ignores actually the special Huddersfield correct score bet

3) I'm showing a p/l this year way beyond what I thought possible. If I do back a loser and my p/l drops a point or two, I can live with it

4) I'm trying to help others by highlighting the long odds you can often get betting on Leicester since the bookies seem to think we will stroll every game. I'm trying to help others. Not sure why you take this personally?

5) I'm off now to spend some winnings. Boy's birthday party tomorrow. He will be getting some extra pressies now.

I won't bother pointing out over priced odds in future.

How do you blame the pitch for missing a penalty - and not only missing the penalty but missing the target.

Simple tony, hope you're well by the way.

Just like advertising hoardings mean we can't perform at home, sandy pitches mean we can't be expected to perform away.

Once we play away on a decent pitch and still don't perform , I'm intrigued at what the excuse will be then!

Hope to see you soon mate. Will let you know if I'm getting to any games.

When all else fails, your in the shite and struggling for excuses when we fail to win or perform, you always have the referee

(TBH, I've not seen many blame or even mention the referee in recent matches, it does surprise - Having said that i've not been on here much recently)

I've seen better sunday league pitches than the one we played on today, how are Blackpool getting away with this I don't know?, today wasn't our best performance to be fair, we we're the better team but a times we made a poor Blackpool team look good. We should have won today simples, we've gave away two points today and now it's looking like the only way we're getting promoted is via the play offs and to be frankly honest I don't fancy us in the play offs.

No positives for me i'm afraid, yes pitch played part, but we should still have won.

Middlesbrough win we stay 5th on GD.

Imperative we win on Tuesday.

Oops! Yep true, either win on Tuesday or kiss 2nd goodbye, we finish outside the play-offs then its a disaster.

Oh my lord. Some of these comments are pure embarrassing. It's not the end of the world, 40-odd points to play for guys, we also have two games in hand which we need to get a good result from. Today was more about not losing than winning I feel, stop the "rot" if you can even call it that, then get onto winning ways. Win at home, draw away.

Anything less than the playoffs won't suffice but we have been in them practically all season it would basically take a monumental f**k up on part to not be in the playoffs and I don't think that will happen.

Right let me get this right, I'm seeing alot of 'We played well today', 'We deserved to win today', 'We had lots of chances today', 'We should have scored today' concluded by 'Their pitch is shocking, I don't know how they are getting away with it' pointing towards an excuse and reason why we didn't win.

So if we played alright, if we had lots of chances, if we should have scored, why are people still blaming the pitch? Surley if we had the chances, surely if we should have scored that has nothing to do with the pitch?

So can people please shut the fuck up about blaming the pitch and just simply admit we weren't up to it and do enough to win the game...That wasn't so hard was it?

It's not all peaches and cream though. When we were 2nd with Peterborough, Charlton and Blackpool coming up I was expecting us to start and cement 2nd spot.

Terrible results along with performances nowhere near what we've seen earlier in the season is quite disheartening. I've not given up hope but 1 point from 9 against our last three opponents is poor.

Yes, one point today is better than none - and more especially becuase it ended a run of defeats - but if we're serious about winning promotion we're way past the time when "not losing" is a defensible philosophy.

Too many teams are already showing they can win consistently for us to go out with any other aim but to win, win, win.

I did say though that we made a poor Blackpool team look good today! at the moment over the last four performances we've been well not quite rubbish but no that good would be the right word, we've shown no signs recently "why we should be going up" there's simply no skill coming through this team at the moment. Too many players in this team that started the season off well and now there slowly wearing out, Marshall for me as had an disappointing season along with one or two others, another one is relying on certain players too much and putting too much pressure on them.

I actually thought we looked totally devoid of ideas in the final 3rd as did Blackpool.

Highlight of the day has to be my dad taking part in that competition at half time, beating the Blackpool fan and winning £150.

Thought we were ok though. Wood had a bad day at the office, some poor touches as well as missing a penalty. On another day, we could have won it with the chances we had.

More positives than negatives to come out of today. They only threatened from long range, we defended really well as unit. Everyone worked hard.

Some good individual performances. King and Morgan the two standouts.

Another disappointing result. I'm glad we didn't lose but Blackpool are a poor side these days and are another team we should be neating if we want to finish in the top two. Even if we win our games in hand we can only climb to fourth. We are not out of the race for automatic promotion but it is getting away from us. We need a good run and we need it now. The coming fixtures are still winnable ones.

Yes you are right. In the context of our current points-per-game average, position in the league and current form we need to be winning games.

However, considering the pitch, the appointment of Ince and the surprisingly awful display by Wood I think the rest of the team, and Pearson, should look on the positive side of things. We changed the tactics for the first time in an age and got the upper hand in midfield. We were solid at the back and, all in all, have gained a point on second place. It could be worse.

As for lessons for the future... well Kane looked good so I'm not too panic-stricken if Nugent is injured, so long as Wood is back to his usual self on Tuesday. Apart from his display the main warning signs were that-

(a) Marshall is out of form. If we return to a 4-4-2, with Knockaert back in the first eleven, then he will need to be replaced. If it can't be Schlupp or, if we're feeling adventurous, Waghorn, then another loan signing is vital. I'm not convinced, either, that King and Drinkwater will have the physicality not to be overrun in that system. Both, King especially, played well despite occasionally over-egging things, but they did so in a three man unit.

(b) Yes I hate to say it, but Vardy is a non-option. He has bags of enthusiasm but, right now at least, no more. He hasn't scored in 310 minutes of football and, in all that time he's been on the pitch, our side have only hit one goal. I genuinely believe he has a negative effect on our attacking play and that our long-term difficulty with scoring late goals is partly down to us ending the game with him in the side.

That said, unless I'm wrong he's our last player to score a 90th minute goal! But that was a long long time ago...

It was undoubtedly a spirited performance today which is a relief after Tuesday. We worked hard but were a little short of inspiration. That said, we'd have won if Woody hadn't had one of those days. King had a very decent game I thought. Decent away support. Home fans pretty much silent aside from the penno miss. I've now seen four away games, collecting only two points. I can only apologise

Yeah I seen him he sat a few rows infront of me, he did very well. Found it funny when a copper called him over and he thought he was going to be nicked :)
