It alway seems like its other teams young upcoming superstars who go to prem teams for silly money (Zaha being the best example). I always thought maybe Andy King could've been the one for us of late, have a really good season here then get snapped up by Yanited, Arsenal, Liverpool for somewhere in the region of £8-£10m but the reality is he never reached that kind of potential. For what its worth I dont think Jeff is worth much more than £2m anyway. You're all only kicking up a fuss cos its Yanited. If Donny Rovers offered £1million at the end of the season you'd all wanna snap their hands off?!!!

I appreciate our relationship with Utd and I hope we get further sweeteners in return, but £1.5 million up front to Man United is the equivalent of £100,000 to us. We'd pay that for an unproven youngster, we'd pay ten times that for an unproven 25 year old (Vardy). Man United spent £7 million on Bebe, now they'd never pay that for Schlupp as what on earth has he done to warrant that, there's not even much hype about him to inflate prices. However, when negotiations take place with them I hope we don't brown nose them at the first opportunity and accept their first offer. We've a history of selling players for mediocre prices, only David Connolly in the last ten years have we got a very good deal for a player. We've paid United £1 million for Drinkwater, £2 million for De Laet and James. These are players not wanted by Man United and yet they want a player from us and are only offering £500,000 more than a player they are happy to dispose of? Personally it's up in the air on how good Jeff can be. Any fan claiming this is scandalous is a bit of a prat. It's frustrating as we could probably demand United to put their money where their mouth is but what has Schlupp done? He's looked very rough around the edges when deployed as a striker at this level and at full back he's looked like he could make it. I'm intrigued to see what will happen at a club with some of the best coaches in the world. He should have every chance of developing his talent at United, where as with us the results aren't as rosy. £2.5 million up front is more like it for me.

Ferguson has brought some absolute pony in the past and I hope for the young lads career he inst just left to rot on the outside or sent out on loan for the next few years until he gets released. Lets keep the door open with Man Utd who cares that we have good links with them and we loan / buy a lot of their players, can think of 90 worse clubs to be linked with.

They payed a hell of a lot more than that for Nick Powell and he'd never played above League 1, awful bit of business if true! So unless he signed an extension he is probably coming quite close to the end of it, and is probably not in a hurry to sign an extension as he is not getting any games. If he is that close to the end of the contract then we aren't going to get much say in the transfer fee. Will be disappointed to see him go, but not going to strop around demanding that heads roll for this decision, if it happens.

To let the likes Hobbs, Gradel and Schlupp all go for a lot less is obviously going to grate on people. Whilst we’ve brought a few in on the cheap (Wood, Drinkwater, Schmeichel), it’s rare that we receive a lot for outgoing players. I thought Bamba would’ve gone for a lot more considering he’s gone to a top Turkish side.

At the end of the day he isn't getting into our starting 11 so for a substitute championship player it isn't too bad of a price

dbt_lcfc Posted 5 March 2013 Posted 5 March 2013 Wish people would stop comparing this deal to the zaha deal.... zaha has ripped this league apart, schlupp hasnt really done that much when given an opportunity (not much of an opportunity)hes not going to get ahead of nugent, wood or kane so why not let him go to the best team in England to sit in the resys for 2/3 seasons before being deemed not good enough before signing for bristol city for 300k?? also im quite happy with £2.5m when you think we've probably signed drinkwater, James abd de laet for that fee combined from them... plus it removes 2.5m from our debt

If Schlupp didn't want to re-sign then we would lose him for a nominal fee, at least we now have an opportunity to put a follow on clause in so if he does make it big we get a cut of the profits selling him on. Hes 20 and has signed a pro contract, the only way a tribunal would be involved wouod be if his contract ran out, they would have to pay a fee even though his contract would have expired... that wont happen though as hes only recently signed a contract You got any details on that?

Schlupp has made around the same amount of appearances for us and so I would think we'd be entitled to expect a little bit more than 10% of what was paid for Chamberlain?! I'm not saying we're going to be hitting those figures but I reckon we should be aiming for £5m and/or putting a first refusal clause into his contract should Utd. want to sell him!

But AOC was 17 and Schlupp is now 20.
