Tom17LCFC Posted 24 March 2013 Posted 24 March 2013 Does the OP just generally think Dutch names are bad? Pierre van Hooijdonk, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Dick Advocaat etc? Great shouts!!
Alf Bentley Posted 24 March 2013 Author Posted 24 March 2013 Does the OP just generally think Dutch names are bad? Pierre van Hooijdonk, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Dick Advocaat etc? Sounds racist amirite? No, I just noticed that three of the four names he mentioned were pretty ordinary Dutch names. If anything could be interpreted as being a tinge racist, it's Durnerz' post just above. Not sure that a response is needed, but just in case.... Of the 3 Dutch names I quoted, Vennegoor of Hesselink was only mentioned in passing as he has a very long, unusual name, not a bad one - a name I'd be proud to possess, though it must make it a pain filling in forms. Van Wolfswinkel attracted my attention not because it is Dutch but because it appears to refer to a childish name for a wolf's penis. By association ("Van"), that probably brought back hideous memories of the American (probably of Dutch origin) Randy Van Warmer....who had stuck in my mind by releasing a hideous song at a bad time in my life - and by having a name suggesting that he was a sexually voracious individual who spent his time warming up vans (possibly by being sexually voracious in the back of them). Hope that clarifies....
The Horse's Mouth Posted 24 March 2013 Posted 24 March 2013 Surprised no one has said it, our very own player Danny Drinkwater.
BoneDog Posted 24 March 2013 Posted 24 March 2013 I always thought Jimmy Floyd would have made a great armed robber. Could have had a right chuckle to himself after a successful job.
foxfanazer Posted 24 March 2013 Posted 24 March 2013 I always thought Jimmy Floyd would have made a great armed robber. Could have had a right chuckle to himself after a successful job. Doesn't rob them just irritates them

Donut Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Haha Nimet Gashi, classic Junior Bent was always a favourite of mine from the past or the German from 96 Kuntz, I think there was and Austrian called Uwe Fuchs too. Although the joke was Gaylord Silly, as opposed to Gashi surely?
theessexfox Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Although the joke was Gaylord Silly, as opposed to Gashi surely?
HEGGSY Posted 28 March 2013 Posted 28 March 2013 For not finding ''gashi'' funny? For not understanding sarcasm...
Alexikokopops Posted 28 March 2013 Posted 28 March 2013 For not finding ''gashi'' funny? I think the whole point of Captain PF's post revolved around him pretending to miss the obvious name and obviously calling out a different one.
Jaspa Posted 28 March 2013 Posted 28 March 2013 Chris Burke Garry Barry I should know loads really, I did see bits of this years ACoN
Captain... Posted 28 March 2013 Posted 28 March 2013 Although the joke was Gaylord Silly, as opposed to Gashi surely? You Donut The joke was that the joke was that the funny name was clearly Gaylord Silly, but I jokingly joked that I thought that the joke was Nimet Gashi. It was a joke.
deejdeej Posted 28 March 2013 Posted 28 March 2013 Slightly off topic but along the same lines.Recently had a couple of football manager re-gen's. Sunday Ufuk And my fave 'Rusty Bell' Needless to say I signed Rusty for non playing purposes.
MC Prussian Posted 24 April 2013 Posted 24 April 2013 Slightly offtopic, but we do have an ice hockey player called Luca Cunti, you know... Other than that, I give you: - Florian Dick (Kaiserslautern, Germany) - Maximilian Sax (FC Admira Wacker, Austria) - Jürgen Macho (FC Admira Wacker, Austria) - Nacho (SV Ried, Austria) - Florin Lovin (SV Mattersburg, Austria) And if you know German, a large number of Austrian family names or names with a Hungarian connotation are on the rather funny side.
