Bale player of the year... Really?

So predictable.

Suarez has been the best player hands down.

Was always going to be him, Suarez didn't deserve it for everything he has done this season, like being a complete and utter t**t.

One thing though, I really don't know how Hazard got put on both lists, he has been average, good first couple of months and that's it.

Really don't think there was much in it this year, but the sheer number and the quality of the goals that Bale has scored and how entertaining he is to watch means that it's not exactly a surprise that he's won. Certainly the result doesn't warrant the thread title.

Admittedly I included European players as a comparison but I really don't believe Bale has the sustainability and the award is a knee-jerk reaction to media enthusiasm

Disagree with Suarez. The amount of chances he's got he should have scored absolutely loads more.

Bale has single handedly kept a fairly poor Spurs side in with a Champions League chance.

Suarez has scored or assisted 49% of Liverpool's goals, has had more touches in the box than any player in Europe and almost 3 times more than any player in the PL. His influence is incredible.

How can you say that Spurs side is poor with players like Dembele, Walker, Lennon, Sigurdsson etc? Fair enough they lack a top class striker but Defoe isn't terrible

But it's not about whether Bale can sustain this quality, it's about the player of the year. For me he has been the best player in the league this season. At the start he wasn't scoring as many as he has in the second half but he created a lot and ran teams ragged. Since Christmas he's just been sensational. Van Persie has been ok, but has really gone off the boil since January until this week. And when I say of the boil, I mean proper shit. Suarez has obviously been quality all season but even before the biting incident he was never going to win, he's a ****. Anyway I do think he can sustain the quality. He won the award in 2011, was nominated last year and he's won it again now along with the young player award, that shows he's playing well over a long period.

Isn't that the point though? Bale stands out in a good Spurs side, if he played for Liverpool, an average side, instead of Suarez people would be raving about how he had been carrying them on his back all season.

Bale has to do more than Suarez anyway, his job isn't just about scoring goals, he's got to be a playmaker as well. He's a better all round player for me.

Suarez is good but I can't say he's impressed me as much as Bale has.

What the **** has sustainability got to do with an annual award?

And who in their right mind thinks their FELLOW PROS are going to vote for Luis Suarez as player of the season!?

I'm sure, in theory, it should come down entirely to technical ability but when you make that many enemies and act that much like a complete scumbag then you're going to build up some considerable bias against you.

Probably is up in the top three this season. I know Suarez has contributed a lot, but I bet Bale has as well. Used to think he was overrated, but the lad is a wonderful player and has become indispensable to Spurs.

if anything both Suarez and Bale are carrying their respective teams. Spurs have been poor for the majority of the seasson yet somehow they are still in with a chance of CL football which inevitably they will blow at the quali stage and eventually compete in the Europey league next term.

for me suarez deserves to win the award and Bale / RVP would be worthy joint second. i wouldn't say Bale is overrated BUT the media do hype him up a bit too much imo.

It's the PFA, there's obviously going to be differences in what the players think and what the fans think. I don't mind bale winning, but I think there should be a rule where if you win one award, you can't win the other.

Overall I think Bale rightly deserves the awards, he's been class all season and will be massively in demand this summer.

Suarez has scored more, granted, but Bale is a better team player, and as far as I'm aware, isn't a racist cannibal

Could not see the FA giving the award to suarez after the biting incident, and i agree they should not.

Bale has had a fine season anyway, i'm just glad they did not give it to RVP as he really didn't deserve it.

Bale has taken Spurs up to a top four challenge with his performances, without him they'd be mid-table, or certainly nowhere near top four.

Without Suarez's assists/goals then Liverpool would be only just above the relegation zone.

However it could be seen as a defunct argument as they would have another player doing his job in his place, maybe not to the same standard or level but a replacement none the less!

Same goes for Bale?

To answer the original question, is he as good as ronaldo? On his day he is every bit as good as Ronnie, but not as consistent, I think it is a worthy comparison they are similar players with similar abilities, Bale at his best is as good as Ronaldo.

Messi? Nah, but then nobody is.

Tevez? Different players but I would have Bale over Carlos any day.

Suarez? As someone has mentioned despite all his goals and ability and ignoring anything else, for a great player he sure does miss a lot of chances. I'd vote for Bale

Bale has had an outstanding season and has ripped teams apart single handed especially in the second half of the season,
