Fox92 Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 I'd take him. Looked solid enough when he went to Brighton earlier in the year.
goose2010 Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 Yep why not decent centre half when fit. Will add a bit of experience and would be good with wes.
MPH Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 cant imagine he would do our chances of balancing the books the world of good.... But id take him for sure.
Finn Claw II Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 Massive wages surely? Can't see much happening in defence until one or both of St Ledger and Konky have moved on. I think someone like Hobbs is more realistic.
Ric Flair Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 Would absolutely love him here, no questions. His wages must be fairly high but if we get ris of SSL and a few others and offer a competitive salary then he might take it. Remember a lot of clubs at this level will be in the same boat as us so unless he can get a PL club he's got no choice but to take a big drop in dough. He's earnt his wedge over the years anyway.
rico Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 Wes and upson ? Being linked in papers today as a couple?
RonnieTodger Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 Hard to think he scored for us in the World Cup against Germany, just 3 years ago. What a fall
Walshy5 Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 I certainly wouldnt mind him here for a year as i think we definitely need 1 or 2 experianced heads in the team. Dont think we'd have a chance though due to his wage demands.
MPH Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 He'll probably go to whoever is offering a combination of most money AND longest contract. He'll probably be looking for at least a two rear deal.
Danno Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 http://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?277981-The-Upson-Effect
Grewks Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 Would not be surprised to see him sign for brighton, should suit him down there.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 Way too much of a gamble at this stage. When fit he is good, but when we're trying to cut the wage books down a player like Upson wouldn't be the right person to bring it and he always gets injured anyway.
Fox You Forest Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 He'll probably be looking for at least a two rear deal. I searched high and low in Benidorm for one of those, no luck though...
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 I searched high and low in Benidorm for one of those, no luck though... Best go to Thailand for that sort of thing. They have everything you could want
dannythefox Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 There is not a chance Pearson will go for him he's not the type of player he signs.
Bettsj2 Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 There is not a chance Pearson will go for him he's not the type of player he signs. An experienced centre back?
iamafox Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 Wouldn't mind Upson but wages are going to be a hindrance. Kilgallon is a more realistic target IMO.
Fox92 Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 http://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?277981-The-Upson-Effect Great spot! Exactly what I'm talking about, would be a good and solid signing for us imo. Just a one year deal would do. His experience could be essential, and I imagine his partnership with Wes would be solid.
dannythefox Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 An experienced centre back? A premiership has been on top dollar for a long time. I'm not saying I wouldn't want him but I'd be surprised if Pearson did.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 Does nobody remember Dabizas / Keown / Howey et al. Ageing, slow, cumbersome, ex Prem centre halves don't do we'll at City.
ealingfox Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 As far as I can remember, we don't usually get caught playing a high line or by through-balls, so pace isn't so much of an issue with CBs. There was the Morgan v Millwall red card, but I still maintain Konch was close enough to be considered covering.
sylofox Posted 14 June 2013 Posted 14 June 2013 He'll probably go to whoever is offering a combination of most money AND longest contract. He'll probably be looking for at least a two rear deal. Looks like he will end up at brighton with that kind of deal lol
