In for the long haul?

If, as some (but by no means all), are predicting..we have a poor start to the season, how long will people give it before they start to get really pissed-off?

I don't ask this flippantly and who knows, we could have a strong start.

But personally, I think we could well start slowly and then get better over the course of the season. Almost like an opposite to last season.

But will people give it time? Especially if Nige tries the 5-3-2 and it doesn't prove fruitful immediately.

I know its hypothetical, but I'm genuinely interested in whether posters on here are 'in for the long haul' or whether many will be ventilating straightaway if we don't start strongly.

Opinions please...

Thing is with a bad season we could still be in with a shout of the play offs if we put together a win streak of 3/4 games towards the end of the season.

We'd probably already be 2/3 managers down at that point though if that were to be the case

I'm for the long haul, only way I'd change is if we were in the bottom 3 around xmas.

The Thais are sticking with NP for this season his contract expires at the end of the season and I guess even if we go up or stay in this division a new man will be in charge.

I'll always give managers/the season about 5 - 7 games before I judge. I haven't seen us in pre season, and I'm very excited to be going Boro on Saturday.

Happy Fox is the king of sweeping statements that have little or no substance.

Really do one c**t!

There is nothing wrong with my statement, I cannot see NP staying after this season even if he delivers promotion because the Thais would want a better caliber of manager.

if his contract is up at the end of the season it doesn't matter if we get rid of him now or then does it? we only have to pay up 1 year of his contract one way or another. if he was on a 5 year contract it would be different.

i think  they'll see how he does, and keep him or not before january transfer window, assuming we have money  for transfers. if not he could go at any time if the season is slipping away.

if we do well, he'll stay obviously. what the thais consider 'well' is anyones guess after last  season.

If we don't get off to a good start and aren't up there after the first 10 games Nigel will be gone....I have no doubt about that...I know how close it was to him going after Barnsley away.

I can see your point in regards to new systems being given time etc but its not as if he's signed 10 new players and the team needs time to gel....It's now or never really.

I've always fought Pearsons corner in the past as I can see the long term plan but for the first time I'm starting to have doubts. I feel with the introduction of Robinson as director of football, Richards influence with the owners and the friction that's caused between everyone....a bad start will be the final nail in the coffin

Depends if we show any promise. If we're putting in reasonable performances I'd be quite happy to give it plenty of time but if we look like as bad as were late last season I may give up hope fairly soonish. If it's truly awful maybe as few as ten games, don't expect that at all though. I imagine I'll be defending Nigel for the whole season, expect us to compete in the top third mostly.

As long as the football is entertaining (irrespective of league position) he can take as long as he likes.

If it's crap football (irrespective of league position) he can do one.

So after 15 games, we're 2nd but it's getting hoofed every time Morgan puts his foot on the ball. Pearson out?

Of course it matters as you'll have to pay another manager too.

the only combination that would piss me off is crap results & crap performances. I can handle crap results & good performances or good results & crap performances. who wouldn't love good results & good performances like the first half of last season.

We could be first and I'd want any manager who advocates hoofing out.

Oh bore off you sad, strange little man. You constantly make ridiculous posts claiming this that and the other, chop and change your opinions constantly and generally spout total and utter shite.

You do talk a load of bollocks. If he was to get us promoted I could guarentee he'll be offered a new contract, guarenteed.

so if we keep him  till the end of his current contract  we get a free manager after that?
