Trel Posted 7 August 2013 Share Posted 7 August 2013 Looking at the team from the first 2 games whilst remembering squad absentees and injuries (James), what formation and team do we select to play leeds?

Sooper Steve's shin Posted 7 August 2013 Share Posted 7 August 2013 I assume we will go 3-5-2 again. Goalkeeper is obvious, as is the right (wing) back. Morgan will be one of the back three, I'd say Moore should be in and we might put the new loanee on the left side if he signs in time (if he was at Wycombe, it's probably close). I don't like St Ledger anyway but don't think he suits the left sided CB role and Miquel has apparently played at left back. Left wing back I think will be Dyer - Pearson likes him, Konchesky is apparently off to QPR according to reports. Bakayogo would be an option if he is fit enough. King will get one central spot, I think Drinkwater will get another and James if fit. If not, then possibly Danns - I just don't see Nige going with Knocky from the start at the moment and breaking up a more solid looking central three that he's started in both games (albeit different personnel) for one with an obvious flair player in front of two workers. Up front must surely be Nugent with Vardy.

Mack Posted 7 August 2013 Share Posted 7 August 2013 If he is going to stick with 3-5-2 then we need to do something about the defensive side of our game, as we were exposed by a league 2 side last night. What will the better Championship sides do to us?

lgfualol Posted 7 August 2013 Share Posted 7 August 2013 Kasper Moore Morgan St Ledger RDL Dyer (think his pace is just too good) Drinkwater James King (I just want to see how he would do) Nugent Vardy Subs: Wood, Konch, Logan, Waghorn, Schlupp, Bakayoyo, Knocky It's actually getting to the point where I don't want anyone to get dropped. Ric Flair Posted 7 August 2013 Share Posted 7 August 2013 I hope Nigel tinkers with the formation slightly and goes 4-3-1-2 instead of the 5 across the back. Schmeichel De Laet SSL Morgan Konchesky King Danns Drinkwater Knockaert Vardy Nugent Subs: Wood, Whitbread, Logan, Schlupp, Moore, Waghorn, Marshall Dyer deserves to be dropped for the squad after last nights horror show. Just as I post a 4-3-1-2. Great minds Agree about Dyer, although I think he wasn't used to not having the freedom to beat his man and not worry about bombing back to defend
ashfosse Posted 7 August 2013 Share Posted 7 August 2013 same team that beat boro (barring injuries) but take Wood out for Nuge. Knockaert comes on if things arent going our way around the 60 min mark. impact player innit. WYS

I like your thinking, could work, Leeds will expect us to come out 3-5-2, but this system could make us more compact and the players could be more comfortable with the formation, and with the players suggested the formation could be chopped and changed, depending on how things are going, but think that looks a strong side. My thoughts are Drinky is more defensive than knocky and would suit away games, bring Kickys flair out at home and tear teams apart

Harry - LCFC Posted 7 August 2013 Share Posted 7 August 2013 I imagine it'll be Moore and Nugent in from the Boro game. Pearson's team selections are usually fairly predictable apart from after a really bad performance.
