oxford blue Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 From the BBC website: "Luis Suarez says he wants to leave Liverpool and join a side which is competing in the Champions League. The Uruguay striker, 26, intends to submit a transfer request by the end of the week if a move is blocked." As everyone knows, Suarez has made clear he wants to leave Liverpool. I know a player used to get a % of the transfer fee if they hadn't requested a transfer. If Suarez leaves before making a transfer request will he still take a % of the fee? If not, is there any reason he hasn't requested a transfer? Help please from someone who knows more about this than me!
Finnegan Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 It's all money. The club don't want to make it any easier for him and he wants every penny. It's all a bit embarrassing.
Jon the Hat Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 I don't think he has done a lot wrong really. Whether or not the clause in his contract is correctly worded, it is clear that he and his agent believed they had a releae clause in the eventh Liverpool didnt make the CL. It is also entirely clear why he wants to move on to play in the CL. If Liverpool think it is a good move to force him to stay becuase of a technicality then they are foolish.

I do agree with nearly all of that but I also believe that, given the wages and the bonuses he'll be on at Real or Arsenal and given he'll probably get a hefty signing on fee too, he could just man up and put a request in.
Swarles Barkley Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 how funny would it be if suarez joined arsenal then arsenal didnt win the CL qualifier. wasnt the release clause cleared up last week where he is allowed to speak to the club if a bid of over 40mil is submitted but doesnt mean liverpool have to sell? sounds really stupid and pointless but im sure this is the case. even if thats the case how pissed off would you be if you were a liverpool fan. the amount of shiit suarez has put them through and still behaves like a cvnt is he on a mission to be hated by every fan inthe premier league. suarez the gift that keeps on giving!
Ford Super Sunday Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 The U-Turn from Liverpool fans has been staggering and hilarious. From a defend-Suarez-at-all-costs attitude he's not the devil incarnate. It's been fantastic to see their sudden change of opinion.
Corky Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 I thought he wanted to go because of the English media?

ScouseFox Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 The whole situation gets more amusing with every day, every Suarez accusation and every Brendan Rodgers comment.
Finnegan Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 This whole transfer window has been utter balls. This. Every time I check the BBC rumours its just Suarez, Bale and Rooney on repeat. Snore.
oxford blue Posted 7 August 2013 Author Posted 7 August 2013 Since my original posting, I've read most contracts do have loyalty(!) clause which benefits the player if they move without a transfer request. Which might explain why Suarez, Rooney & bale haven't asked for transfers, yet have made clear to the press they want to leave. I wonder if it's a coincidence all are apparently injured and can't play in their clubs friendlies?
leicesterisme Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 Seeing Liverpool fans crying about how they stuck by him through everything is very amusing I have to say.
Ross-Kemp Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 Liverpool already playing the victim card. You promised him champions league football and if you didn't deliver he could leave. Well you certainly aren't in the champions league... I hate Suarez, he's a vile person, however, he has every right to feel aggrieved.
Bayfox Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 if he goes to arsenal. i give it 2 years max before he forces another move. arsenal have it coming. stupid fools. i would love to see bale stay in england. but suarez can just feck off abroad.
Dan Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 Laughable. Claims to want to get out of England for the media then wants to sign for Arsenal so he can play in the 'Champions' League. The bloke's a scumbag.
Fox92 Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 Fantastic, gifted, footballer who could play in any team. I like to see Liverpool do well, but there is no point keeping a player who doesn't want to play for the club. At the end of the day, he's a footballer who wants to play at the highest level in club football.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 This. Every time I check the BBC rumours its just Suarez, Bale and Rooney on repeat. Snore. I don't get the fascination with the transfer window full stop.
breadandcheese Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 Luis Suarez, as a person, is a rat. But at least he is actually prepared to stand up and say he wants to go. Compare this to Rooney and Bale who hide behind newspaper talk.
ScouseFox Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 Liverpool FC â€@LFC2 Mar Suarez: "Being at such a big club for so long, Stevie & Carra have given so much for the club, I'd love to be able to do the same." #LFC

Compare this to Rooney and Bale who hide behind newspaper talk. There's no defending Suarez here. I'd rather they'd stayed quiet all summer than make a comment saying you wanted to leave England because of the media, and then try and join a club where it'll be even worse because they happen to be in the 'Champions' League.

So, now it's a game of he said she said.
