I think he has improved on pretty much every attribute he could've done since the start of last season. His control has improved, his football brain is a lot better, he doesn't panic as much in good situations, but the one thing which really stood out for me yesterday was his pace. I don't know if their defenders were just slow, but he had the beating of them all day long and created several chances for us, including the penalty.

Crucially he was using this effectively, spinning into the space behind and having our midfield find him with balls over the top. It's fantastic to see, not just for the team but for him personally. It's clear that he's worked incredibly hard over the summer after a difficult first season, and now he's reaping the rewards.

He's showing all the desire and attributes now that we've been missing for months and is a great asset to the club at the moment, justifying his steep price tag (for a former League Two player).

He looks sharp, fit, has plenty of speed at his disposal and doesn't hesitate when forced to shoot.

I'd just advise him to seek a proper hairdresser.

he's got a good hairdresser , but he won't sit still long enough to let him finish .

Come on Zing back to the general chat room please, you seemed to have slipped through without authority.

Agreed he was poor last season, and I feel the criticism was warranted, but fair play to the lad.

The problem he has now is to maintain this level of performance, he started bright last season but faded, but at present his contribution to the team is important and Defo adds something different to the team.

when did we sign Defo? lol

Probably started with the shave on one side before one half-time, then kick-off was looming, so Vardy said "Gotta leave, mate. Be back at half-time for the second half".

The hairdresser's been trying to catch up with Vardy ever since. lol

He has tenacity as well as pace. Those 2 go hand-in-hand for a guy of his stature playing against some big defenders. Worked a treat for him yesterday and got just rewards in gaining a penalty for the side.

Like Matt said above, I'm also happy to be proved wrong about him and I'm glad that his hard work over summer is paying off and benefiting everyone. Hope it continues.

You have to remember he finished the 2009/10 season playing for Stocksbridge Park Steels 2 leagues below conference. He then played a season with Halifax before going to Fleetwood. He was going to take some settling down into this standard of football and he has got his head down worked hard over the close season and is certainly showing us his potential. Don't expect him to bang in 20 plus goals but he will cause opposition all sorts of problems and will get plenty of assists and penalties.

Well done to him he could quite easily of gone the other way.

MOTM yesterday.

I would have given it to Liam Moore and not just for the goal. Vardy played brilliantly, though. Not gonna deny that. His drive and determination and vigour to annoy and aggravate the Wigan defence yesterday played in to our hands. Shame he didn't get a goal either.

He showed signs of potential at the beginning of last season.

This season tho' he's started like a man possessed, maximum effort, never allowing defenders to settle and that pace!

It all looks promising.

I'm really happy i've been proved wrong, 1 because it means a player is playing well and 2 because it proves I will praise when it's warrented, I'm sure some people on here think I want a player to be poor, or for the team to be poor just so I can moan, not the case at all, but let me tell you if a player is poor or the team is poor I will moan about it, it's not right! I'm not gonna sit there and be a happy clapper and like I have done if I do slag a player off and he comes good, i'll be honest, i'll hold my hands up, i'm more than happy to.

Atleast I will admit when i'm wrong proven in this case.

I'd like others to be abit more honest on the flip side when a player/team clearly isn't playing well, ok maybe I go abit OTT when commenting on players/the team when they are poor, but I don't know how people can sit there and accept a player who is poor/the team is poor and not seem to be bothered.

God you don't half go on about admitting you were wrong

Great start for the lad but a little early to be saying that we were all wrong and he is in fact a great striker lol, hopefully it will continue though will be like a new signing if he keeps this up.

Got to do something with that fuking mop though.

Whoopy ****ing do. He had 2 at this stage last season as well.

You were quite right about Vardy, Mike...

Poor first touch. I think it's improved this season and if so, credit both to Jamie and the coaching staff?

It's better but it's still not where it needs to be. First half he had an incredibly heavy touch and battled to get it back, on another day he could have been just that half a beat late and got himself booked.

I'd hope the coaching has ensured his touch has improved but, and this is a big but, he's only in the side because Wood is so woefully out of form, any improvement in Woods form and sadly it'll be Vardy who makes way.

lol, so comparing him to a player who plays in a lower division isn't slagging him off?

Do Wood and Nuge not have limitations? In fact, tell me 1 striker in this division who doesn't have limitations and I will shut up

I'm not a Vardy, lover or hater but I think his performance yesterday was very good, great work rate and positioning much improved, hopefully he can keep improving!

Bloody hell, hectic schedule at the moment isn't it!

Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Saturday!
