coatsworthstache Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Was absolutely incredulous that the referee didn't think the penalty was worth a second booking. Nothing like doing only half your job right. Coyle's a tw@. How quickly has he binned off wigan's passing football? They were just looking for set-pieces and trying to hit one of their 6ft5 defenders.
dannythefox Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Finally we looked like a team yesterday a great 3 points!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 What the fcuk is Youngy on about on the radio???? Saying Wes was our worst player on the pitch. Tool I thought that was the shakiest ive seen him before to be fair
The Year Of The Fox Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 According to Manish we just missed out on the playoffs last year?
Raj Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 ... i must have been watching a different game,i thought overall it was boring! Yeah we were solid and Liam Moore was defo MOM for the goal celebration alone. Good job Nugent does take the pens as he's got less chance of scoring than Konch, should have taken the £2milion offer from Florist for him! TBF Wigan were shite and we missed so many chances it was unreal. Still good win....heres to Marshall scoring against us on Tue!!!
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 According to Manish we just missed out on the playoffs last year? I noticed that - guessing he meant to say "just missed out in the playoffs"
theessexfox Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 If anyone has not seen nugents penalty here it is http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=c4-feed-u&v=34PXO2wrMno Chris Wood is such a whiny twat.
Bert Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 I was waiting to see how many would say it and I don't think up until you anyone has even mention the ref in a bad way for us. Yes he was, he was poor. But until you no-one (as far as I have seen) has mentioned him in a bad way in our view, now should we have drew or lost I bet we'd be talking alot more about him in the bad way, I bet he'd have been mention way before now, that is the simple problem I have about this matter. Anyway, I do agree with you. I don't think affected the game in any major way. He was just very inconsistent and petty. Missed a few things for both sides. A typical, arrogant referee who is never wrong. Scott Carsons method of keeping against penalties was a bit bizarre.Nearly worked though didn't it!
Raj Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Chris Wood is such a whiny twat. Yeah Pity Nugent wasnt so protective about taking pens at Watford!!!
theessexfox Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 FLS showed a couple of majestic balls by Drinky to Vardy.
Raj Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 FLS showed a couple of majestic balls by Drinky to Vardy. Did he cup his ears to the fans when the pass was complete???
Soar Fox Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Owen Coyle has to be one of the worst managers in football. He's got a squad that is full of quality in depth for this league, and so far this season they have looked nothing but bang average. They look a shell of the side that was in the Premiership last season and they haven't even lost that many players. They looked sharper when he brought Mcmanaman, Powell and McClean on but he seems to have sucked out the creative and positive style they were known for under Martinez. Take nothing away from our lads we absolutely smashed them in every facet of the game but I think every Leicester fan was surprised, and even the players were surprised at how bad Wigan played today. I said something similar about Coyle in another thread. The squad he had at Bolton last season was packed with quality and he struggled with them. He's still living of his reputation from his Burnley days. Such an overrated manager and I hope he fails to get them promoted. Dislike both him and Wigan football club.
Callabinho Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Wigan should be in league one or two with the terrible following they have! F.A cup holders, in Europe and that's all they can bring?
Simmo86 Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Chris Wood is such a whiny twat. Should be sorted beforehand who takes the pens. He went over and celebrated with the team so he didnt throw a complete hissy fit!
bovril Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Moore and Morgan best centre half pairing since Elliott and Tags!
MC Prussian Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Couldn't listen to the game yesterday, but judging from the highlights (I know, can be misleading), we looked up for it and hardly granted Wigan chances. Moore looks as if he fits into the first team so seamlessly. Team spirit is high, results are coming in, a couple of clean sheets already after six league games. I think we can go places with this setup. Still, 40+ league matches remaining. Pearson better be ready to counter any unwanted short slumps - last season acting as a reminder.
Bettsj2 Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Should be sorted beforehand who takes the pens. He went over and celebrated with the team so he didnt throw a complete hissy fit! Not sure why people are trying to make a big deal if this. Nuge said if he's on the pitch, he'll take them and if not and Wood is, he'll take them. Wood is obv craving getting the goals so wanted to take it and Nuge pulled rank. This is what we were all asking for after Knocky's pen against Watford so whats the issue?? If anything, i'm happy that Wood is showing the desire to get on the scoresheet. Certainly goes against many peoples opinion of him not giving a fvck.
Zingari Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Moore and Morgan best centre half pairing since Elliott and Tags! Still early days yet , but i'd say it was looking good if we can keep them together .

Kitchandro Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 I thought it was a solid if unspectacular performance against a Wigan side that really didn't turn up at all. I think if anything, the main reason for concern was some of the half-arsed attacking in the final 3rd. We barely ever looked like conceding but lacked a ruthlessness to score 3 or 4, which was a real possibility. There were plenty of potential openings but I got the feeling we were almost too comfortable. Knockaert was the player who summed us up I feel, he always looked like he might do something, but his decision making often let him down. I'm delighted for Liam that he got his goal, his performances so far this season have deserved something like that and you could tell it was a really special moment for him. The less said about the Wigan marking the better. I thought we only had one bad performance, and that was Nugent. He played like an absolute twat again. It wasn't even his misses that annoyed me the most, players go through bad spells in front of goal. But what really frustrated me is that he didn't show enough willingness to get into the box. In the first half especially, there were loads of occassions where we had the ball in a great position and he was nowhere to be seen. That is not good enough, he should be busting a gut to get in there. And tbh, one or two midfielders should be as well. A worrying start to the season for Nugent covered over by the fact he's scored 3 penalties. My MOTM was Vardy. I thought he was our most crucial player, there were a lot of balls playeed forward in his direction that he chased down, he harried and hassled defenders to great effect, and his runs off the ball gave midfielders options. He made something out of nothing many times, winning the penalty being the prime example. Yet oddly, even he showed signs of a lack of conviction and belief in the first half, for example when he was one on one with a defender and he waited for support instead of going for the goal. As a team we need to make more of these situations, when they're on the back foot we need to go for the throat. I don't think we've been truly tested in any of our wins this season and we're yet to come up against a team who looks a really obvious promotion contender based on their performance. But it's another win and we can't argue with the start we've had.

He was full of running and, like Vardy, put their back four under near constant pressure by challenging and scurrying round. His finishing, yes, was pretty woeful and he needs a goal from open play to get him going again. I'd sooner have Nuge in the side, than not. He contributes a lot to the team even if he isn't scoring goals. An 'absolute twat'? No, that's too strong mate. I see Bolton are second from bottom. Would you rather have Beckford back?
HitchinFox Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Not entirely sure where those people who weren't impressed with the way we played yesterday are coming from. We made Wigan look toothless, which, seeing the amount of talent they have, is a massive achievement. They had only lost once this season coming to us - and that was down to playing with 10 men and conceding a goal from what was probably the worst attempt at a back pass in the history of the game (James Perch). They had scored 10 goals in 5 games before yesterday - they are a threat. The reason why we restricted them to next to no chances might've partly been - judging the way Wigan set up from the start - that Coyle probably thought we'd play 3-5-2 with Hammond in the mix. Could be why he used all three subs fairly early in the second half to try and come up with plan B and tackle our 4-4-2. Then it was Pearson's turn to counteract that by going with 4-3-3, which worked too. But whether our formation surprised them or not, doesn't take away from the fact that we outplayed them in every area of the pitch. Their best scoring chance came from that free kick in the last minute of the first half - a hopeful punt into the area as time was running out, so hardly tearing our defence open, that. Drinkwater was superb, as was Vardy. And our back four was nothing sort of immense - even without his goal Moore would have been among the best on the pitch yesterday. I'd say only Lloyd had a bit of a mare. Luckily though, his awful first touches and general s***ness didn't cost us possession in any critical point of the game or area of the pitch (that step over that he fooked up in the first half which gave them a throw in was a beauty!). What Lloyd does though, even when he's off-colour like yesterday (and could be why he started), is put the fear of god into the defenders with his pace. I like him, always had, but he wasn't great yesterday. I was so happy driving home after the game, very proud of our performance. Makes paying for sodding petrol worthwhile. If somebody is unhappy about the way we played yesterday then I really am not sure what you expect. What would make you happy? What could/should we have done differently? I for one am going to enjoy a relaxing day today, doing a couple of things around the house of a list that my loving wife has devised for me - for once with a smile on my face. Can't wait for Tuesday and another drive up the M1!!! LTID...

I genuinely thought he was awful. A weak link in an otherwise decent performance. I rate him as a player but he's not been himself more often than not since February. In fact the play-offs were an exception really. He's looked lazy to me. A strikers main job is to be in the box and in positions to give himself a chance of scoring. He was pitiful in that sense yesterday and the few times he was in a good position, his finishing was woeful. Even with the penalty he got a bit fortunate.
