grey kit

Battleships are always grey and nearly all war planes. Grey is the blandest colour in the spectrum and makes objects fade into the backround. Whoever selected grey for the away kit needs telling that it's not working.

There are four psychological primary colours - red, blue, yellow and green. They relate respectively to the body, the mind, the emotions and the essential balance between these three.

GREY.
Positive: Psychological neutrality.
Negative: Lack of confidence, dampness, depression, hibernation, lack of energy.

Pure grey is the only colour that has no direct psychological properties. It is, however, quite suppressive. A virtual absence of colour is depressing and when the world turns grey we are instinctively conditioned to draw in and prepare for hibernation. Unless the precise tone is right, grey has a dampening effect on other colours used with it. Heavy use of grey usually indicates a lack of confidence and fear of exposure.

BLUE. Intellectual.

Positive: Intelligence, communication, trust, efficiency, serenity, duty, logic, coolness, reflection, calm.
Negative: Coldness, aloofness, lack of emotion, unfriendliness.

Blue is the colour of the mind and is essentially soothing; it affects us mentally, rather than the physical reaction we have to red. Strong blues will stimulate clear thought and lighter, soft blues will calm the mind and aid concentration. Consequently it is serene and mentally calming. It is the colour of clear communication. Blue objects do not appear to be as close to us as red ones. Time and again in research, blue is the world's favourite colour. However, it can be perceived as cold, unemotional and unfriendly

Time for a Red away strip?...

RED. Physical
Positive: Physical courage, strength, warmth, energy, basic survival, 'fight or flight', stimulation, masculinity, excitement.
Negative: Defiance, aggression, visual impact, strain.

Being the longest wavelength, red is a powerful colour. Although not technically the most visible, it has the property of appearing to be nearer than it is and therefore it grabs our attention first. Hence its effectiveness in traffic lights the world over. Its effect is physical; it stimulates us and raises the pulse rate, giving the impression that time is passing faster than it is. It relates to the masculine principle and can activate the "fight or flight" instinct. Red is strong, and very basic. Pure red is the simplest colour, with no subtlety. It is stimulating and lively, very friendly. At the same time, it can be perceived as demanding and aggressive.

even if all of the above is guff, just look at the page and question which paragraph stands out most?

A while back Portsmouth went to town on this. Spots on the sleeves to try and improve visibility etc. I think people like it as an excuse because it's more comforting then the fact we were just shit in some games.

A few times in the game we played a long ball to the wing and each time my first thought was "who the feck was that to?" only for the ball to be brought under control by a City player I hadn't spotted against the crowd.

I then tried a little test of looking at the floor for five seconds and then looking at the pitch. The Brighton players were immediately visible. We weren't.

No excuse for Satirday's performance but it really is a poor choice of colour.

Seeing grey: United's infamous 'invisible' kit voted the club's worst of all time...

Fergie said: ‘The players couldn’t pick each other out. They said it was difficult to see their team-mates at distance when they lifted their heads.’

That Hull strip is fab-u-lous.

okay jace, do you think Wes is clearly visible?

I would say the blue and white kit is more distinguishable, I can see Wes though he is on the right

grey kit is a bit like Pearson suddenly realising after years that you can actually get a better view of the game from the stands .Not rocket science

Get rid of the grey never again

I like the kit as a supporter wearing it but for playing reasons it was aweful! First time I had seen the players wear it and couldn't spot our players until the ball was played near them.

I always thought they should of switched the colours around with yellow/green/lime (whatever u call it) and grey trim with same colour shorts or grey. Feel it would look a lot better and be spot on for players to pick each other out easier

I have to say, i like the kit. However, it must be a mare to see on the field.

This is it for me, I like grey for casual wear but isn't the best choice for a football kit. Not saying players turn invisible but I can imagine its slightly harder at a split second decision to pick someone out

I have to admit i hate the grey kit, it's so depressing and boring. I surprised Puma haven't released a third kit this year? Just one thing to mention do you remember Man U's most unpopular kit? they were wearing grey against Southampton at half time they were losing 0-2, so for the second they changed to a blue kit they still lost but did score one and didn't concede any more!

Apparently Fergie said the players couldn't see each other!

Don't like the colour but the excuse is stupid.

We have won 2 lost 2 in this kit explain that.

The other one not being at wednesday or brighton I see fans say we did not turn up.

Played poor lack of effort.

But as yet no one is complaining about all the miss placed passes and passing to sydney in the stands in his grey coat.

Surley the first thing you would notice and be complaining about would be loads of stray passes if they could not see eachother?

terrible colour, obviously it must effect the vision in some way as its the blandest colour out there

Can't we do a mid-season change and just go yellow like Newcastle.

or orange like real.

I STILL maintain our passing was poor, so many misplaced passes.
