Jonezy Posted 17 December 2013 Share Posted 17 December 2013 Haven't heard enough to post a Top10, but I have enjoyed: Rhye, James Blake, Vampire Weekend, MØ, Forest Swords, Maya Jane Coles and the new Burial stuff this year. Forest Words and Maya Jane Coles are thanks to recommendations in the '2013 in music' thread. 'Engravings' by Forest Swords is probably my favorite album this year. My "surprise of the year" award would have to head the way of the Arctics, how they continue to spiral upwards is beyond me. Superb act.

General Smuts Posted 20 December 2013 Author Share Posted 20 December 2013 Indie Music has been lacklustre this year in my opinion. The only interesting music has been Hip Hop. Tyler The Creator Drake The Weekend Childish Gambino Earl Sweatshirt A$ap Ferg Kanye West Jay Z Plus maybe Arctic Monkeys and Vampire Weekend to round out the Top 10 albums. Langston Posted 27 December 2013 Share Posted 27 December 2013 Surprised Foals is making so many of these lists, not a dig at anyone, each to their own and that - but I felt the whole of Holy Fire was monumentally average. I was so hopeful after Inhaler, too.

Langston Posted 27 December 2013 Share Posted 27 December 2013 To be honest i was the samee to start with but i recently gave it another go and its started growing on me a lot Perhaps it needs a few more listens, then! I would add the Strokes latest effort to the disappointment pile but I don't expect anything even semi-decent from them nowadays.
