DennisNedry Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 not surprised by Lauda, fairly sure he's been pro lewis throughout this whole season. I'm sure they'd both be equally pissed at Lewis if he'd have caused the incident. Putting aside your hatred of Hamilton and looking at it objectively, it was clearly Rosberg's fault. Sticking his front wing in to a wedge that was always going to close. If he was side-by-side then fair enough, but he was way behind. On another day Hamilton would have been unharmed and Rosberg would have had worse damage, but Rosberg has been incredibly lucky this season. PS: Well done Ricciardo, another excellent drive.

Oh yeah, I wasn't blaming Hamiltion or anything was just saying cause usually Toto manages to remain neutral rather than Lauda.
AmyLGK Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Nico has admitted to Lewis (this is coming from Lewis after their meeting) that he did it on purpose, he could have avoided him, but he wanted to prove a point....what a dick!
The Horse's Mouth Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 yeah, cause Lewis' word is something we should take as fact.
shen Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Great race all around today. I imagine Magnussen will be punished, but it was a enthralling four-way battle at the end.
Asha Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Rosberg seems to have the edge on him mentally at the minute, although Lewis can be absolutely awesome in Monza and he really needs to beat Rosberg there.
fuchsntf Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Roseberg was stupid, and wrong. You dont challenge that line with a team mate with not even 2 laps done. Even if he had won the race, which he didnt ,he lost his team 25 pts. 25pts win. 18pts second. = 43 pts he only got 18pts so he lost his team....25 pts. If it had been Hamilton, I would say the same.
ADK Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Hamilton is having absolutely no luck at the worst time.
Asha Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 yeah, cause Lewis' word is something we should take as fact. Mercedes sources have basically confirmed that's what he said. But what can they do? He's your championship leader you can't ban him, or force him to let Lewis win in Monza or anything.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Toto has said they've been misinterpreted and yeah you're right there's nothing they can do either way, if only someone hadn't have made the rivalry personal then maybe incidents like this wouldn't happen. only just realised how close Ricciardo is, could be interesting if he manages to keep this form up.
BlueSi13 Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Mercedes sources have basically confirmed that's what he said. But what can they do? He's your championship leader you can't ban him, or force him to let Lewis win in Monza or anything. It would be an unbelievable story but why not take Nico out of the next race? Mercedes are still guaranteed to win both the constructors and drivers championship even if they do decide to do that. Rumours are strong that Hamilton's people have remained in contact with McLaren. If Mercedes-Benz appear to be lenient on Rosberg then it is very possible they could lose F1's biggest name (and arguably fastest driver along with Alonso).
Asha Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 I can't see why he'd leave the fastest team to re-join his old team that are less competitive now than when he left them.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Mercedes would rather retain Lewis than Nico contrary to what the british media would have you believe. Should be interesting come end of the season because they surely cannot go on like this.
isaidno Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Eddie Jordan's reaction to Rosberg being booed haha Come on guys that's not fair and you know it - he's driven his heart out lol Cringe. Feel sorry for Lewis there, seemed to work out nicely for Rosberg today. Mercedes want to be careful allowing their drivers to race because Ricciardo could be worming his way into the title race. Ricciardo lost 31 points in the first 2 races from the disqualification and a pit stop. He could have been in the title race
Legend_in_blue Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 yeah, cause Lewis' word is something we should take as fact. I'd suggest using video evidence of this, but I'm sure it'd be water off a ducks back in your opinion (using the Massa/Perez incident back at Canada as an example). I'll give it a go anyway. What do these three clips have in common? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3E5Pxmvz0r8 Watch at 2.10 onwards. Side by side, turn to the right, slight feint to the left, but then back to the right, causing a collision. Deliberate act. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvSgJDIsRnc More contentious this one but in terms of the world championship I can see similarities between this and what's currently going on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9hXvw9yMw8 On the outside, begins to back out, turning to the right, slight feint to the left, but then back to the right, causing a collision. Deliberate act. I watched 5 minutes of the BBC commentary today, but turned over back to Sky after this. Coulthard is such a muppet calling it a "racing incident". Sky went as far as saying it was "clumsy" although again I thought they were being far too diplomatic over it. When the question was posed to Rosberg, the deliberate act was implied to have happened after the collision, stupid question - get your facts right, that's not how it happened. So imo, neither broadcast really got to the bottom of something which in real time is obviously deliberate. Controversy, it follows the sport. It did in the 80s, it did in the 90s, 00s, and now. Nothing changes.
Asha Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 I'm interested to know, as I wasn't alive at the time, what was the general reaction to Senna taking Prost out? I'd say on the face of it that was the single most outrageous piece of driving and he should have been banned for it. To deliberately take another driver out at 160mph or so when there's a whole field of cars behind you is beyond fvcked up.
ADK Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 I don't understand also, why Rosberg received no penalty? Does it have something to do with them being teammates? Does the team have to ask for a penalty?
The Horse's Mouth Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 I was correct about the Perez incident though, heck I'm not even claiming it wasn't deliberate I'm more annoyed with the fact everybody is willing to take Hamilton's words as gospel and a part of me couldn't see Rosberg admitting to take him out because "he wanted to send a statement". My issue is more with the conversation happening than the incident.

I think Senna admitted to the move being intentional a year later - although I'm not 100% sure on this. The Senna documentary is well worth a watch - it is discussed in detail there. I starting following the sport in the 90s. I can remember watching the Schumacher/Hill collision at Adelaide for example. Nothing changes with this sport - controversy follows it everywhere. I can't see any way back for the two drivers in the team after this. One will walk at the end of the season.
Asha Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Magnussen demoted to 12th after forcing Alonso off the track. Plus Rosberg could now be investigated for the incident with Hamilton.
kingcarr21 Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 Looks like Mercedes have taken disciplinary action against Rosberg for the collision with Hamilton. Good. Cheating Cvnt
Super_horns Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 Won't be much more than a fine I guess but good on them for letting him know he was wrong.
Amin Posted 29 August 2014 Author Posted 29 August 2014 A few photos from the Belgian GP: An amazing weekend started with the pitlane walk on Thursday, where I managed to get my 2007 champions hat signed by Kimi, along with a picture signed by Alonso. On Friday we got our first taste of live F1 action while we walked around the beautiful Spa-Francorchamps track scoping out vantage points for Saturday and Sunday. In the end we decided the entry to Pouhon was the best spot. On Saturday we had to endure a few downpours, including hail, but the action on track more than made up for it, with a British 1-2-3-4 in GP3 being the highlight. After three great days, Sunday topped the lot. Another British win in GP3, followed by my favourite GP2 driver, Felipe Nasr, winning the second race made it a great morning and a thoroughly entertaining Porshe race completed a wonderful warm-up act for what was undoubtedly the main event. The F1 race was incredibly thrilling, with a very likeable victor and Raikkonen having his race of the season was a wonderful bonus. After the race, we managed to get onto the track at the bottom of Eau Rouge and walk up the Kemmel straight, through Les Combes and Malmedy, round Rivage until we got told to exit the track at the exit of Pouhon. If you have any interest in attending a Grand Prix, make it the Belgian GP. I'm already planning a return trip for 2015. P.S: The best fans were the Danes. They all made alot of noise whenever Kevin did anything even slightly noteworthy. I'm just glad I wasn't around when they found about his penalty!
