Amin Posted 27 July 2014 Author Posted 27 July 2014 Not at all Rosberg was not racing Hamilton in that race. There was no chance of him beating Hamilton and was only effecting the team by just not allowing Lewis past ASAP he would have got past effectually anyway. You could argue that Hamilton cost the team a win today, not that I think he was wrong to hold Rosberg up.
isaidno Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 awesome race . Action packed from start to finish. The momentum is back with Lewis heading into the summer break
foxes_rule1978 Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 You could argue that Hamilton cost the team a win today, not that I think he was wrong to hold Rosberg up. True but Hamilton did have every chance of beating Rosberg if he kept him behind, something that wasn't the case in Germany a year ago. Today Rosberg wasn't even close to overtaking Hamilton during the time that he was being told to let him through
iamafox Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 Great end to the race, Riccardo overtaking 2 former world champions en route to victory is remarkable. Bizarre call from Mercedes in telling Hamilton to let Rosberg through, Hamilton was well within his rights to ignore them as he had nothing to lose.
Asha Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 Aaa the two races I've not been able to watch this year have been Canada and Hungary and they've been by far two of the best Shit... Anyway, seen the highlights and some stunning drives out there. It's good that Ricciardo is at least in the fringes of the picture for the title. Hopefully he can pull the gap to the Mercedes guys to like 30 points so that there's an outside chance in Abu Dhabi. Crazy that there's only 8 races left, where has this season gone already? Meanwhile, some of you are fvcking idiots. The crying in this thread that 'Mercedes are deliberately fvcking up one of their drivers' is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Are you being fvcking serious!? If they want Rosberg to win that much why don't they just knife Lewis in a back room somewhere while he's sleeping? Jesus wept. He's been unlucky with reliability but he's also made some errors. On balance you'd say he's had the measure of Rosberg but that's not what it always comes down to and you need good fortune too. NR has been a lot more consistent with his results. And even then, maybe Rosberg's retirement in Silverstone was deliberate by Mercedes because they wanted a home win for Lewis
ADK Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 I don't think Rosberg has been more consistent, just had less car failures. I don't think Mercedes would deliberately sabotage Lewis but it's not unreasonable to wonder if there is some favouritism going on. The team orders thing for instance was strange.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 It's not as if Rosberg hasn't been on the receiving end of those team orders before either.
Asha Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 It's not as if Rosberg hasn't been on the receiving end of those team orders before either. Exactly, Malaysia last year for a start.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 I wonder if Rosberg fans are thinking the safety cars and 5 second pit stops were all a ploy to give Lewis the chance of finishing higher? Didn't think so.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 Rosberg Hamilton Australia - 1st Australia - Retired Malaysia - 2nd Malaysia - 1st Bahrain - 2nd Bahrain - 1st China - 2nd China - 1st Spain - 2nd Spain - 1st Monaco - 1st Monaco - 2nd Canada - 2nd Canada - Retired Austria - 1st Austria - 2nd Britain - Retired Britain - 1st Germany - 1st Germany - 3rd Hungary - 4th Hungary - 3rd The two 3rd place finishes came when Hamilton had failures in qualifying. Now tell me Rosberg has been more consistent... Race wins 5-4 Hamilton Podiums 9-9 Failures 4-1 Hamilton (2-1 Hamilton during race) other two caused Hamilton to start from the back. Most wins in a row Hamilton 4 Rosberg 1
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Has anyone actually said they think Lewis is not as good a driver as Rosberg? I don't think anyone with a brain thinks that. The problem with Lewis is obvious, he's a highly unlikeable human being.

Amin Posted 28 July 2014 Author Posted 28 July 2014 I think both have been about as consistent as the other. In the races they usually perform to the best of their abilities but both are prone to mistakes in qualifying.
Super_horns Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Fair play to Hamilton for sticking up for himself. I sense a whole load of frustration was part of the reasoning for not letting Rosberg through.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 5 August 2014 Posted 5 August 2014 How do you get out of a bribery case? By bribing people, clever sod.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 5 August 2014 Posted 5 August 2014 Hamilton's problem isn't his skill or talent, it's his attitude. The old saying is, "a bad workman blames his tools" and we all know thanks to onboard radio that he's forever moaning about his car, even to the point that he's doing it when his times are as fast, if not faster, than any one else. No other driver is as negative as him, I think he must be a right royal pain to work with.
MrsJohnMurphy Posted 5 August 2014 Posted 5 August 2014 How do you get out of a bribery case? By bribing people, clever sod. This made me laugh when I heard it on the radio http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-28656050
Nalis Posted 6 August 2014 Posted 6 August 2014 I loved the way he said he was a bit of an idiot to settle as the prosecution didn't have a case. Better to claim to be an idiot than guilty eh?

isaidno Posted 9 August 2014 Posted 9 August 2014 in the process of booking my GP for 2015. Decided on Monaco
isaidno Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 Booked my tickets for Monaco. Sitting at Casino square for practice , the swimming pool chicance for qualifying and general admissiom for race day.
Nalis Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 The breaking news banner on SSN states that 17 year old Max Verstappen (I assume son/nephew of Jos? ) will drive for Toro Rosso next season. Crazy young!
isaidno Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Son of Jos. Been a sensation in F3 this year, won 7 races in a row. It's a massive step up. Missing GP2/ Renault world series
Strokes Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 A great team to start in, torro have good pedigree in starting careers.
Asha Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Son of Jos. Been a sensation in F3 this year, won 7 races in a row. It's a massive step up. Missing GP2/ Renault world series Think it was just the six, he wiped the floor with everyone in all three races at Spa and Nuremburg, but still it's impressive stuff even if he's unlikely to win the title. Can't help but feel it's a few years too early. The kid is 16, what's the rush to throw him into F1? Assuming they're going to sack of JEV a line-up of Kvyat and Verstappen is crazily inexperienced.
