Sounded like this is going to happen, wise signing will add something extra coming off the bench.

He has a wealth of experience and has been a top quality striker for many many years. Yes at 40 he is not going to be as fit, however as a model pro I'm sure he's looked after himself ala Giggs. What KP could offer in the last 20 minutes of games could be invaluable in our push to the prem. Can't see what we have to lose really?

Good post that man.

At the same time he did say (at the end of soccer am) that all he wants to do is play football. I don't think we can guarantee him that. I expect he understands that nobody is likely to make him first choice striker, at his age, above league 1 so it depends how involved he wants to be.

Some talk he may be off to wolves?

Wouldn't bode well for Wood. I'd rather we kept faith in him when he's fit.

I am sure we will....but right now he isn't fit.

Phillips has more experience than all our current forwards put together.....his ability to teach our other players will be invaluable...and considering he will only 'stay in the midlands' there is the possibility of a coaching role aswell which would be excellent....Maybe if Chris Powell gets the boot he might fancy coming back for a bit...especially if we hit the big time.

Imagine having those 2 on the backroom staff...would be incredible.

Fair point mate. Everything everyone always says about Phillips points towards him being coach material to be fair.

What did Pearson say after the game about it?

- Stringer said that Phillips had said he wanted to stay in the Midlands and asked if this could mean he was signing for Leicester

- Pearson patronised Stringer by telling him there were lots of clubs in the Midlands

- Stringer then asked if Pearson was saying he was signing for Forest

- Pearson said he wasn't saying that, no. And that he didn't talk about players/transfers

- Stringer asked if that meant that he was interested then

- Pearson said maybe and that he had worked with him before

- Interview ended

- Stringer announced that this was probably going to happen, revelled in the 'respectful working relationship' that he claims him and Pearson have and proceeded to declare that it was his job to ask these questions and back people into corners in interviews. He placed on record that he sometimes got stick for asking the questions but as the top, investigative journalist that he is he would always ask them.

Would have kevin Phillips as a coach but would prefer - for all his undisputed goal scoring ability - to sign someone younger who is capable of playing 90 minutes (particularly while wood is out) and can play regular premiership games which also may be beyond Phillips now. A good signing 3-4 years ago imo. Also he got more game time at palace because they usually played 4-5-1 with Murray up top which meant they were thinner in the striking department. Think he'll be further down the pecking order with us.

Stringer said "he's a free agent so you can say: are you interested?" and NP said "Look I know what he's about I've worked with him before and last game I had with him he scored a hat-trick so read into that what you will".

That is as close to a confirmation as it gets with Pearson.

Stringer was a nob about that working relationship bollocks though I agree.

Bump! Just in case anyone missed it...

Fine effort, Sir!

It's the year 3417. All that is left is dust. The world ended centuries ago.

And yet... a faint flicker of life. GOAL: Kevin Phillips (90+3)
