Happy Fox Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 I love Lloyd but he isn't worth a two year deal if we are going to the too flight. We can't be sentimental with these contracts no matter how much we want to be. Exactly he only warrants a one year contract for me to see whether he is good enough for prem football the same situation with Morgan.
MC Prussian Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 I thought the club had handled this well, the option on wes, so we now have the summer to sort a longer deal if we wish, we all know Kasper will only sign if we go up. Konch on a 1 year deal. works well either way, good enough at this level, back up if we go up, presume his wages won't change to much. However 1 year for dyer, this I find odd, he's found the form of his life, surely 2 years minimum, if we go up his pace can still be and asset even if not a 1st choice, if we came straight back down, we have him to tear up the championship again. I think the problem with contracts longer than one year is that, should we drop down to the Championship again in a year (in case we get promoted this season), many players, among them Dyer, would be on risky wages. The danger is that relegated teams from the Premier League would have to achieve instant promotion again, otherwise they'd end up with an unsubstantial wage bill. I guess this is more a case of the club being very cautious about financial implications in a worst-case scenario.

I guess this is more a case of the club being very cautious about financial implications in a worst-case scenario. It's tricky don't get me wrong, but surely if dyer signs now he's not really gonna be on premiership money, I think signing Kasper in the summer on the money he may want may cause more of a problem if we then came down, because without a clause to reduce his wage we could be stuck with a keeper on long deal and big money. He may afterall, not cut it in the top flight week in week out as a 1st choice. the same as I would expect konch to be signing a halfway house sort of deal, sitting somewhere between a top flight wage and a good living at championship level.
LCFC FOX Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 Dyer obviously wants the same wage then and Konch willing to take a wage cut. Still don't think he's good enough for next season mind
Dan Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 I'm not sure about Konchesky at all. If we go up I think we're going to need a better left back. He'd be OK as cover but we can't pay his current wages for a back-up even in the top flight. I'd give Dyer a year personally and as much as I like him, you do fear that if he loses his pace (and it's going to happen to an extent one day) he's going to be a liability. I don't think he'll turn down a year if it really comes to it.
hackneyfox Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 I don't think any of the players whose contacts are due are worth more than a 12 months extension should we go up.
Jakemoore Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 I was hoping the several joke was back but then you all started to get serious! How dull
5waller5 Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 Lloyd would easily get a two year contract elsewhere ..... I just can't see the problem with giving him one here ... he'\s one of our best players - so even with an influx of better players if we go up he'd still feature at some level for those two years. He's not going to lose his pace overnight - surely two years wouldn't be a risk.
Alexikokopops Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 I love Lloyd but he isn't worth a two year deal if we are going to the top flight. We can't be sentimental with these contracts no matter how much we want to be. Usually I'd agree but this is Lloyd so all rationality is out the window. I'd offer him a ten year contract.
LCCFox96 Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 I'd give Dyer 2 years. People say his pace is his best asset = very true. People say once he loses it the main attacking threat of his game will be gone = sadly this is true again. But I think he'd move out of the starting 11 if we went up and would be used as an impact sub - much the same as Phillips is now - to change a game when we need him too. He'd easily have enough of his blistering pace for 2 years in that role with starts occasionally. In the championship he would be a safe, solid starter for a few more years as well. It's not about being sentimental because we could offer him a 2 year deal. Realistically he IS going to lose his pace, but he is comfortably the fastest in the team which is an indication his will be very fast for years to come. A 2 year deal takes him to 33 which would be the right time to move on for dyer. But a 32 year old dyer - easily capable of terrorising defences. Can people really see his pace disappearing in a matter of 1 year? Injury will be the only thing that forces it on him. Good news on Konchesky. Good starter in the championship and solid back up in the premiership if nothing else for his experience. Hopefully he has taken a decent pay cut. If yes I like his loyalty and commitment to the club.
Corky Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 Konchesky does have a lot of Premier League experience which could be useful in the squad. Certainly a capable back-up and worth another year I reckon. Lloyd- well, again one year is ok, can see why he wants two but start with one and take it from there.
youglan Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 hearing from italy ac milan will bid for kasper after this week dont know if he go
Out Foxed Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 hearing from italy ac milan will bid for kasper after this week dont know if he go your hearing is incredible. are you superman?
youglan Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 your hearing is incredible. are you superman? no not superman but it is true ac milan want kasper as number 1
ADK Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 Why would they bid for Kasper when they can sign him now for free on a pre contract?
youglan Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 need a keeper there keepers now our get on a bit kasper would be a good fit
hackneyfox Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 no not superman but it is true ac milan want kasper as number 1 ITK at AC Milan?
Simo86 Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 need a keeper there keepers now our get on a bit kasper would be a good fit Gabriel is 21 and Marco Amelia is 31, hardly getting on a bit. They also have Abbiati til the end of the season, then his contract runs out. Doubt they'd buy him in Jan. If there's any truth in it I would have thought they'd just get him in on a pre-contract
kingfox Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 Why wouldn't some people want Dyer to be given a 2 year contract. That's just about right in my opinion, he of all players deserves a shot in the Prem, 1 or 2 years it doesn't matter, we need to get him tied down, instead of pissing about, I'd hate to lose him, even though he probably won't play week in week out if we get promoted.
Simonb Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 konch will be good back in the PL, wont be starting week in week out Dyer, Id offer a 1 yr deal with an option to earn a second one based on appearance, assists, goals etc
Dan Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 I cannot see why AC Milan would bid any money now when they don't really need him until the summer. Would people take £3.5mil for him in this window? It'd be a good financial move but I suppose it'd be a lot down to how much faith you have in a replacement keeper (Hennessey for example) to maintain a similar level of performance.
