The next time there's a hose pipe ban due to drought and I can't water my pansies, should I turn gay for a bit till it rains again ?

Actually , bollox to the pansies  , they can wither away if thats the best solution. I'll just plant succulents and flowering  cacctii

I'd understand this if they supported everything the bible said but they pick and choose what's wrong and what's not.

But I suppose hypocrisy is the unwritten rule of the bible.

Was it  the Metaphors that  fought the Caananites and Sumarians . Or was that the Mesopotamians ?

Those folk in the bibble were always smiting each other for worshiping the wrong god or summat !!

Hooligans , the flippin lot of 'em !!

I'm not religious myself but this sort of thing slanders the good work many Christians do in their community. People avoid religion because they are scared to be seen as old fashioned, homophobic zealots and this bellend doesn't help.

Agree. I'm not religious in the believing in God sense but I know of one priest who runs his own church in Leicester (off Abbey lane) who is a great bloke. He says it is a mixture of faiths and he does not have all the riches the main churches do . he likes to get out to people rather than services. He welcomes anyone to the church and would probably laugh at the suggestion that gays had any connection with floods. He is trying to convert me but i'm afraid he will not succeed. I did say to someone and he overheard, that if I went to any church it would be his. He was pleased about that.

Never really been away, it's just this place is too busy nowadays and I can't keep track any more. So I spend my limited time (due to small a small female) mainly lurking on a few threads... or annoying Manwell & Finnegan.

Nice to be missed though...  ^_^

People don't do good deeds because they are religious, they do good things because they are good people.

Where as good people probably do bad things due to religion.

The only reason to be a christian in modern britain is if you have a guilty secret, i bet he is a peado.

We're a bit touchy about being overtly Christian in the UK aren't we? I mean, as a UKIP councillor he can bash the immigrants and fvck over the poor and piss on the homeless without anybody batting an eyelid but wooooohhhhh don't even think about saying anything about God or you must burn in eternal shame.........

I think it's the other way round actually. Criticism of immigration and welfare appears to be far less 'fashionable' than attacking religion today. Atheism keeps growing and the conservative theists are laughed at more and more for their beliefs. Although maybe that's only how I see it because I hang around with young people who tend to be like that.

But he's not criticising religion. I know what you mean, I didn't really express myself clearly. I meant more that (Anglican) Brits always seem extremely ashamed to show any kind of overt religiosity as opposed to people abroad who are quite relaxed about it.
