Nigel Pearson admits it is not going to be easy to keep his entire squad happy during Leicester City's promotion push.

However, the City boss has urged the players who are not currently in his 18-man squad to see the bigger picture.

Pearson admitted Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Jeff Schlupp, who become a father to son Arlo last week, were bitterly disappointed to be left out of the 18 for Saturday's victory at Leeds. Pearson instead chose to include new signings Kevin Phillips and Riyad Mahrez.

"It is always hard," said Pearson. "We have Fletch and Jeff, very disappointed lads not to even get a place on the bench. It is never easy and those two in particular were very disappointed.

"It is hard to keep everyone on side, but what has to be the over-riding feeling is the stakes are so high in terms of what we can achieve if we remain together.

"It is not easy trying to keep everyone on side but we have to try to do that. Results like at Leeds certainly help.

"Over the course of a season, you are going to pick up suspensions and injuries.

"Hopefully, the collective goal, the incentives, will keep them happier than a grumpy manager."

City are assessing the extent of the injury which forced off right-back Ritchie De Laet in the latter stages on Saturday.

The Belgian was suffering from cramps in his hamstring and City withdrew him as a precaution.

Liam Moore also took a painful blow to his elbow towards the end of the game, but Pearson said he would be fine. "We will have to see how Ritchie is," said Pearson.

"Hopefully, he won't have done too much damage. Liam collided with a post.

"He is a tough lad so I am sure he will run it off, as we used to say."

I heard about Jeff being absolutely furious. I hope they realise the bigger picture like Nigel says, and support the lads if they aren't included.

They need to man up.

If we go up there'll be better players than Schlupp and GTF, being left out the squad from time to time.

That's life boys, better players than you at the club, get over it.

Besides I'm sure GTF would be more than happy to sit on his arse taking his wages home were it not for the fact he needs a certain amount of games to trigger an extension.

I'm glad they were upset, it shows they are keen to play and will fight for a place which in turn Keeps the rest of the players on there toes. Especially GTF who realistically knows he will only make sub appearances, can't fault having that kind of competition within the squad.

Well, obviously not.

The problem is that NP has a clear idea of who his first 11 is, that is not saying it doesn't change, but when it changes, eg James coming in for King and it works, it's almost as though we have to lose before King gets another chance, or James has a stinker and King comes in and changes the game.

I know NP rotated for the Millwall game, but it was clear that was a keep the first 11 fit plan, and even though some of the fringe players played well it was back to the current first 11 for Derby and Leeds, now we have no cup commitments we couls well see the same starting 11 until the end of the season.

That is why I would be annoyed if I was Schlupp or GTF, I know some will disagree, and say we shouldn't play weakened team, but when the weaker team is King instead of James, or Wood instead of Nugent or Was or Miquel instead of Moore or Morgan it should be enough to see off most in the championship. I know if he started genuinely rotating and we lost he would be crucified on here, but it is not just about keeping fringe players happy, it is about keeping them fit and sharp and ready to play and influence a game should they be needed it would also make us harder to predict, we saw at Leeds, they picked Dyer to double up on, gave James and DD no time and space, if that was their plan and we had lined up with a 433. Vardy, GTF, Schlupp up top, Hammond, DD, King in the middle. God knows if it would have worked but their plan would be out the window, then we would have Dyer and Knocky and Nuge to bring on to change the game.

The point is not saying that we should have gone with that starting line-up, but that if we become predictable they can and will make plans to nullify us.

Maybe they should step their game up and stop crying?!?

Little unsure as to why all of our players seem to take being dropped so personally, if you are being dropped you aren't performing well enough, it's as simple as that. They can moan and throw their toys out of the pram all they want but the bottom line is, it's down to them to get selected in the first place. So they'd rather we played an understrength team just to inflate their own ego's?

Nobody is bigger then the club

Sounds like now is the time for Schlupp to move on if he's getting so angry about it, either that or step his game up so he actually gets selected.

Sounds to me like he has an absolutely stinking attitude, and whenever I've seen him this season (apart from maybe Watford away) he hasn't looked interested. When he came on away at Yeovil he did fvck all and just moped about.

Hey guys, whatever happened to Sol Bamba?

(general query and interest)

He started a reggae band with Linvoy Primus, not sure how well they are doing though.

Players seem to leave as soon as I have them as my name on a forum, or if I have them printed on the back of my shirt. On 606 I was "Jack thewall Hobbs" and I had Mattock printed on my shirt the League one season, both made swift exits  lol

I might change my username to "Neil thewall Danns"

Schlupp? okay he scored at Millwall but bar that he's not offered enough for him to throw his toys out the pram.

he played him against man city. And looked our most dangerous player.

Interesting points but I wholeheartedly disagree. We should be playing our most in form players regardless of a few whiny bitches
