Bert Posted 10 March 2014 Author Posted 10 March 2014 Ok, first proper bet for the fest yesterday. PP gave me my tenner back from the Imperial at the weekend, bloody second place! Gone on a double for two of my best (admittedly somewhat obvious) shouts of the week, Quevega & Briar Hill to win the Mares and Albert Bartlett respectively. Pays about 9/2 at the time of placing it I think, shorter now I'd imagine because they are all coming in for Briar Hill, 9/2 about 10 days ago, hit 7/4 in places. That's my "banker" double. Tomorrow looks a tough day bar Quevega who will hopefully romp home. Will have to back the Fly because he's the Champ and I bloody love him. Supreme looks like something where e/w value is the best shout, Arkle is going to be tight as anything judging by the betting and the form. The handicaps are, well, the handicaps. They'll be good fun. Just want to fast forward 24 hours really. Have you used the "PP Messenger" app mate? The supreme looks like a 2 horse race but a favourite hasn't won this race for ten years. Fancy Champagne Fever for the Arkle and the Fly for the champion hurdle.

Fancy Champagne Fever for the Arkle and the Fly for the champion hurdle. I've got the app but not used it for that bet or anything Cheltenham so far. Any good offers on there? Aye, there's usually one or two that get everyone going for the Supreme cos it's the opener and then a 12/1 shot who was dismissed by bookies and punters alike grinds it out. I always say I'll sit the Supreme out and use it to find out for sure the ground conditions and how everything else is going to shape up, but get all carried away with excitement and end up backing a loser . I can't make my mind up on Champagne Fever. Will have a think overnight and back something on my way to work in the morning, probably. Dodging Bullets looks like the one i'd plump for right now but some more reading and watching will probably change that . Looks like you're after another Ruby Tuesday then mate! Would be a great start to the fest if The Fly won, not even just for my bets, it's just bloody lovely horse and punters everywhere love him. He'll go off favourite once the Irish money comes for him, I'd guess.

He's not had a chase winner for a long time there though mate. Gonna have a look at the Bayliss and Harding Handicap now because I just haven't the foggiest.
separator Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Got £20 free from Sky so have put it on the horses i've picked for the fantasy league. 1.30 Gilgamboa 10/1 2.05 Rock On Ruby 4/1 2.40 Tours Des Champs 16/1 3.20 My Tent Or Yours 4/1 4.00 Highland Retreat 14/1 4.40 According To Trev 33/1 5.15 Art Of Logistics 10/1 50p ew accy, 5p ew super heinz, 50p ew singles

Is that the offer once you download the app? I used it for that and nothing else so far . Or is there a new one for Cheltenham? Don't get my hopes up Bert! yeah I read that the other day, was an interesting stat. Paul Nicholls hasn't had a chase winner in his last 63 runners at the Fest either which shocked me. One of them gonna break there duck this year surely? The handicaps are all a bit of fun to me really. There are form lines and decent shouts but more often than not I may aswell draw from a hat haha.

Well sorry but it's the one once you sign up. Unless you know someone whose card details you can use to sign up to a new account with? Then you'll get the £20 free for placing a £10 bet with a new account and £20 free for using the £10 messenger bet.
ScouseFox Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Haha ahh well, no worries mate, cheers anyway. It was a good offer just for downloading an app! I think I've exhausted all the free money knocking around from bookies to be fair. I must have about 20+ accounts in different places. Makes Cheltenham and Ascot etc even more confusing when you can't remember which bookie you used to put what bet on and sign in to different accounts and have no idea why there is x amount in your online wallet haha.
General Smuts Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Just A Par has had 50p of mine voided as it's not running. Turns my acca into a fourfold as well. Annoying.
Matt Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Tough day tomorrow. What's everyone's thought's on Irving?
Bert Posted 10 March 2014 Author Posted 10 March 2014 Tough day tomorrow. What's everyone's thought's on Irving? A favourite hasn't won the Supreme for ten years.... Don't want to put anyone off if they fancy it but just something worth noting. Quite like the look of him myself tbh, I just have a strange feeling about this one.

Although The New One and My Tent Or Yours worry me in that
The Guvnor Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 What website do people use for data on form etc? I personally think looking at race trends pays dividends, google 10 year trends Cheltenham Festival 2014 here is one for starters and good luck! http://cheltenham-festival.betting-directory.com/trends.php
Bayfox Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Tough day tomorrow. What's everyone's thought's on Irving? Everyones talking up vautour it seems. But I've hedged my bets. 20 on irving at 2/1 and 30 quid on vautour at 3/1 Using paddy powers offer of stake refund if horse finishes 2nd 3rd or 4th so I'm hoping for a vautour win and irving finishing in top four giving me 140 in my account at the end of 1st race.
