lcfcbobby Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 I would like people to express there opinion on Miquel as im not 100% sure if I would like Leicester to sign him on a permanent deal! I think we could sign him for a reasonable price and he has already stated that he is enjoying his time at Leicester. I think when he has played he has played well but not sure he is a perfect fit into our back 4 as he does have the tendency just to punt the ball up the pitch (fair enough at times its the right thing to do), but we have developed a team that plays well from the back and works the ball forwards. What's your views people???
LCFC FOX Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 Miquel is probably the best ball playing defender we have. He certainly isn't a hoofer
lcfcbobby Posted 3 April 2014 Author Posted 3 April 2014 Isn't he out of contract? to be honest I thought he signed a new contract with arsenal just before we took him on loan
RizLCFC Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 If he's out of contract I'd snap him up, good prospect, he's done well when he's had the chance, just unlucky we have 3 players who are having a great season.
Jace Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 Depends what Pearson thinks of him, he knows a good defender when he sees 1
TheLeftSide Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 Not seen enough of him and he did not play very well against Stoke in the FA Cup which is concerning.
lcfcbobby Posted 3 April 2014 Author Posted 3 April 2014 Haven't seen enough of him to judge He started bout 10 games at start of the season then got injured and not got back into the 1st team but made a couple of appearances off the bench
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 As promising as he is, i think we need to aim higher particularly as we already have 3 x defenders in front of him
StanSP Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 As promising as he is, i think we need to aim higher particularly as we already have 3 x defenders in front of him Not necessarily. He's still young and probably knows he's no better than the others - BUT there's no harm in him trying to get better than the other 3 to force his way in. It's always good to have depth in your squad and next year will be no different. If he's on a free, I don't see the harm in going permanent with him given we've seen he can be quite a capable defender. Perhaps needs to bulk up a bit but when you have Was, Wes, Moore ahead of you, nothing wrong with getting tips from them!
Soar Fox Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 Id prefer to offer SSL a new contract SSL has done absolutely nothing to warrant a new contract here.
Father Ted Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 I do like Miquel as a ball playing centre back but there just tends to be something missing and it's no coincidence that we look more defensively fragile when he plays at the back, similar to how we were with Bamba at the back. I think it would be best for both parties if he moved on and found regular first team football elsewhere, particularly with 3 centre backs already ahead of him.
lgfualol Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 SSL has done absolutely nothing to warrant a new contract here. Hey, he gets drunk n is shit on purpose so people like Liam Moore could get their recognition. Deserving, 30k a week 5 year contract anyone?
LAprice_ Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 I would sign Miquel. The only reason he can't get in the team at the moment is the fact that Moore, Wasyl and Morgan are in absolutely brilliant form. From what I've seen of Miquel, his distribution is very good (Barca&Arsenal upbringing), he is dominant in the air, still very young and most importantly, ridiculously passionate. He sums up everything that we are about, he doesn't get in the team often but when he does he gives 100%. Oh, he's also versatile; CB and LB (could probably do a half decent job at CDM as well) My only concern and I am being serious, is that Arsenal don't keep him.
dmayne7 Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 If he wasn't out of contract at the end of the season I wouldn't even consider it. Most of our defeats have been with him in the team. He looks decent but I'd rather spend some money to get an experienced defender in or another youngster.
AKCJ Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 Done well when asked, young, free, decent reputation, opportunity for profit, can fill in at left back... It's a yes from me.
Frost Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 Id prefer to offer SSL a new contract Hope this is a joke. A bad one at that.
sdb Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 Obviously not. Can't get into a Championship squad, hasn't looked anything special when played. We should be looking for players to improve our squad should we go up.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 His league record this season is awful. Played 6, lost 3. We've lost fewer of the 33 league games he hasn't played in. Also played against Man City and Stoke meaning his overall record is played 11, lost 5, but I won't hold cup games against him.
Webbo Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 He doesn't get on the subs bench for most games, doesn't suggest he has a future here.
LAprice_ Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 Yes, 6 games, 3 defeats. Doesn't sound brilliant... Of those 3 defeats: Charlton 2-1 James controversially sent off, Morrison scored from a corner (King was marking him), Kermorgant scored from a corner (After practically jumping on Moore's back), Miquel was playing at LB. Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 Wickham made Wasyl (RB) look foolish, then scored a good goal after Leicester failed to defend a set-piece Brighton 3-1 Counter attacking goal and great assist, another counter attacking goal, Wasyl not keeping up, 3rd goal was penalty after Wes fell into a player. Look, basically, what I'm saying is you shouldn't judge Miquel based on those 3 defeats. 2 of them involved Wasyl struggling at right-back; farcical set-piece defending from the whole team and counter attacking from Brighton after players further up the pitch gave the ball away.
cairnsy Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 I think he is certainly a good prospect and i think he would suit the premier league more than the championship, whether he would want to sign is another matter seeing as there are currently 3 cb's ahead of him but both wes and in particular was are getting on a bit so you never know. But as some others have said there just seems to be something missing whilst he plays, you never know.. may change once he gets regular football under his belt.
