docho66 Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Well the inevitable has happened, Norwich have buckled under pressure and sacked their manager. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26916661 It's such a shame to see another decent manager let go. I think they should have kept the faith until the end of the season. With 5 games left, I think the effects will be detrimental to their survival. I would be upset if we were to replace them in the league next season. What are your thought? Should they have got rid earlier? Kept him until the end of the season? Or we're they right to sack him today?
Vardinhio Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Seems very harsh, what do Norwich expect? They were always going to be in and around there and let's face it aside from the Fulham fixture they are going to be on a hiding to nothing anyway!
Donut Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Spent badly in the summer, have been awful away from home all season. With the tough run in to come, itll be touch and go if they stay up or not.
stevelcfc Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Not a fan of him personally, but as we well know, sacking your manager especially at this time of year does you no favours.
Webbo Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Unless they've got someone lined up it seems a bad idea with only a few matches to go.
Fox92 Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Should be higher than they are given how much was spent on transfers. I do like Hughton though, and I don't mind Norwich either. Another decent, well supported club.
Vardinhio Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 But how much higher should they really be? 5 points clear of relegation with 5 games to go isn't that bad is it? But yes their fixture list does suck. I would have expected them to be anywhere from 15th-20th so 17th isn't too bad. By the way has anyone seen that Arsenal have now actually conceeded more goals this season than Crystal Palace, crazy!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Pissed so much money on players. Like Hughton but his downfall is that they cant score
yorkie1999 Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 You can bet called the baggies manager special on sky bet because of all the managers who get sacked after playing them
Corky Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 He's had some positives, finished 11th last season, beat Man United, Arsenal and Man City, went 10 games unbeaten in 2012. But he's also lost 22 out of 35 away games, spent millions and are 17th and also lost to Luton in the FA Cup. The atmosphere has turned quite nasty and it was at the point of no return for Hughton.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 I would hope as a club we wouldn't stoop to this level, but I doubt it.
johnny the fox Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Is there anything we can pick off the carcass ?
Jimothy Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Is there anything we can pick off the carcass ? Wouldn't mind Redmond and Hoolahan. Tettey is a good defensive midfielder too.
cambridgefox Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Malky Mackay come on downthat's what I think also.
kingfox Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 They have an incredibly tough run in, what difference is an Under 16 manager going to make? They sack a decent manager in all fairness, and replace him with a youth coach. What is the point of that, very bizarre.
DennisNedry Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Does that now mean there are no black managers in the 4 tiers of professional football?
Strokes Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Does that now mean there are no black managers in the 4 tiers of professional football? No women either, its a disgrace
One Legged Beaver Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Would I be right in saying they haven't scored more than one goal in a league game since October/November? edit: Just checked and they've scored twice against Sunderland and Southampton last month but the last time they'd scored 2 before that was the 9th of November which is shocking considering he brought in Gary Hooper, Van Wolfwinkle, Redmond, Fer etc.
Nick Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 I can see them going down now and Fulham who have the better run in staying up.
Hollism Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Does that now mean there are no black managers in the 4 tiers of professional football? Yeah saw that on Twitter earlier
Finnegan Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Don't understand the hysteria to be honest. He's a shit manager, they should never have employed him. Who cares if he's nice? Mourinho and Ferguson are wankers. They sack him now and get a common honeymoon period it'll keep them up, if they appoint a proper replacement it gives them a few games to get a look at the squad before a transfer window.
Unabomber Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Surprised by the timing as it screams desperation, but I think the actual sacking was inevitable even if they had stayed up. It seems as if Hughton is the kind of manager who does well when things are against him (Birmingham, over achieving to an extent with Norwich last season) but once he was given some money to spend and expected to push on he and the team have been pathetic. Their away and scoring records have both been abysmal considering his main focus in the transfer window was signing goal scorers, to ship £15m on van Wolfswinkel and Hooper and receive 6 goals in return is diabolical.
Dan Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 You can bet called the baggies manager special on sky bet because of all the managers who get sacked after playing them Bloody hell I forgot about that. Happened again He's had some positives, finished 11th last season, beat Man United, Arsenal and Man City, went 10 games unbeaten in 2012. But he's also lost 22 out of 35 away games, spent millions and are 17th and also lost to Luton in the FA Cup. The atmosphere has turned quite nasty and it was at the point of no return for Hughton. Their away record is a shambles. 4 away wins in 2 years.
