_Fatboyslow_ Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 You mean Spain, Italy & Croatia who they leaked 10 goals against in 3 games? He's 'OK'. We can do better. We need better
Bert Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I would love St Ledger to get a new contract. He's got a cracking attitude and improves squad morale and aside from when injuries have hampered him he has been a solid player for us performing well.Just can't see it as much as I agree.Pearson quoted as saying he wants to keep the squad together - "the ones that are playing".
Finnaldo Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 See our efforts at set pieces this season, the small lad is probably our new set piece coach. He could probably do better than we have this season. Or maybe it's some kind of charity thing, a sort of make a wish thing? Even if he is a relation to Knocky I wouldn't think he'd be at training!

You talk some rubbish sometimes gingerfox.
Agent Fox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Looked bang average playing in Euro 2012 didn't he? Against Spain, Italy and Croatia he performed well and got plaudits for being one of Ireland's top performers at the Championships. He's suffered with injuries and only played 35 games for us but aside from the Bristol City farce he has been a good player for us. He started this season as one of the first choice CB's. We can't have 4 CB's that all expect to start every game and by all accounts he is a very popular member of the squad and those kinds of players are important to squad harmony. It's probably not going to happen but for me an experienced international in the squad provides us good depth. Agreed. People are far too harsh on Sean, he'd probably take a squad role in the Prem and I'd be happy enough for him to fill in when needed. When people say he is poor, refer to Whitebread - now that is poor!
Father Ted Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Who out of that picture needs to be moved on then? If Kev stays on as a coach and we bring 4 quality additions in, who goes? Personally, I don't think Miquel, St Ledger, GTF and Hammond will be here next season.
GingerrrFox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Really? You talk some rubbish sometimes gingerfox. It's not really rubbish though. When Whitbread came here from Norwich their fans were saying he was one of their better players in the first season back in the Premiership and he was absolute shite when he came to us. If Whitbread can perform well in that league then so can St Ledger. I can understand people saying St Ledger is too injury prone etc but saying he's bang average or shit is bollocks. I'm not saying he should start week in week out in the Premier League or anything along those lines but we could do a hell of a lot worse as a 4th choice centre back in the squad.
Agent Fox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Personally, I don't think Miquel, St Ledger, GTF and Hammond will be here next season. GTF should most definitely be here next season. Did half decent in the Prem with Blackpool. Hopefully be used in the same capacity as this season. 5 goals in 22 league games - I've seen worse.

Hopefully be used in the same capacity as this season. 5 goals in 22 league games - I've seen worse. That was a few years ago though? He's a different player now and I doubt he'll be used in the same capacity. If anything it'll be player/coach. Same goes for Phillips but will probably be the latter.

True, but in terms of the combination of was, wes, Moore and miquel (possibly). Do you think that he will fit in? Not to mention if Pearson does decide to strengthen that position, I can't see what ssl could contribute that the others couldn't.

He's on too much money for being a fourth choice centre back and is generally quite poor - definitely not worth offering a new deal. Good luck to him in the Championship next season.

Personally I think Ledge is a better player than Miquel but that's just my opinion and I know everyone's is different. Miquel for me is a great ball player but I don't think he is as good defensively. The only thing going for him over Ledge in my view is that he is our only left footed centre back and I like having the balance of a right footer and left footer at centre back. I would be comfortable with Morgan, Wasyl and Moore starting next season and I don't see the need to sign a backup when we have a perfectly capable one already at the club.

Same goes for Phillips but will probably be the latter. I don't think GTF has ever been a different player to the one he is now? He's never ran up and down the pitch all game, just a very clever who seems a good influence on the squad. I'd keep him for another year, lost a few pounds as well. Sitting at the Sheff Weds game and people were screaming for Fletcher to close the defence down constantly - bizarre. He won't do the same job as Vardy but vice-versa. Good footballing brain.
crazylegs1984 Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 i was wondering that myself Seriously, who is that mystery guy? The dwarf? He's literally everywhere
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Who is the 10th player? They've only listed nine. I would guess Wasilewski, whom Pearson has already said he would want to keep.

Giving a new contract to a player who's been unavailable through injury for the best part of 18 months is a ridiculous notion. Even as a 4th choice he's not worth the risk. I know you, Bert and others have a high opinion of SSL and he has had the odd good game for us, but nowhere near enough to suggest he should still be here next year. Complete Sven thinking to suggest otherwise.
RizLCFC Posted 7 April 2014 Author Posted 7 April 2014 SSL is a good defender so I don't really know if I want him to leave, but he's a bit slow and injury prone so I can't see him being offered a new deal. His attitude, character and support for our players has been excellent throughout his time on the sidelines. GTF I'd like to see here next season but we can obviously do better, technically he is a very good footballer and if he can trim down a bit over pre season he'll be a very useful squad player. Whitbread and Gallagher, I hope they both leave. As for Miquel, he's a good prospect and out of contract, won't get a new deal at Arsenal so bring him in, can't hurt and doesn't throw his dummy out when he's not playing.
hackneyfox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Just need to be careful that we don't start offering stupid extensions and salaries like we did under Sven. I wouldn't offer Dyer or Nugent anything more than a 12 month extension at the moment.
foxfanazer Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I would love St Ledger to get a new contract. He's got a cracking attitude and improves squad morale and aside from when injuries have hampered him he has been a solid player for us performing well. No chance
Bert Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Just remember that GTF has to appear in 20 games to get a deal for next season at the same terms of this seasons deal. I think he's 3 away or around that mark. Do you think he's gonna turn that down? Doubt it. Expect him to be here.
Len Finsbury Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I would love St Ledger to get a new contract. He's got a cracking attitude and improves squad morale and aside from when injuries have hampered him he has been a solid player for us performing well. Funniest I've read since 'Kermo was decent'?
Babylon Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I wouldn't offer Nugent anything more than a 12 month extension at the moment. You'd only give our top scorer and top assister a 12 month contract, that's pretty harsh.
jamfox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Maybe he's really the boss and Nigel just does the interviews and sits in the stands at the game. Dwarfinho Dwarfinho !! love it.
