Shifting Mata, Luiz and Lukaku for a combined£110+ million was excellent business from Chelsea/José

José has got previous for doing great business and getting the better deals.

I remember when he was at Inter he got €45 million for Ibrahimović plus Eto'o. With that money he signed Diego Milito €28 million, Wesley Sneijder €15 million and Lucio for €5 million.

I said it at the time but the Premier league was a much better place without a Pulis side infesting it.

Some fans wanted Pulis to come in here and save the day, but honestly who'd want to pay money to watch that display, yeah they defended very well but never looked like scoring and didn't hope of scoring there game plan was to simply snatch a draw.

Flogging Mata and Lukaku allowed Jose to bring in Costa, Fabregas and Felipe Luis.

That's serious stuff in the transfer market.

Said it at the time, Chelsea's business this summer was absolutely astonishingly good.

That is exactly why the Twenty's Plenty campaign should be listened to and hopefully brought in. No ambition, no intent, nothing remotely exciting.

Pisses me off that if you change your manager and get a result like that you're automatically considered safe.

0 shots on target, yet a complete wankfest over that chav.

But Everton were absolutely atrocious. How Lukaku is worth £30 let alone £30m is astonishing. Has absolutely no positional sense.

Sick of English football at the minute. It's ****ing shit.

The amount of money has without a doubt worsened the league. The quality is as low as I remember it and you get games like that on a regular basis. There's so much riding on games now that people have almost forgotten to actually enjoy it.

The sides that bought extremely well were, IMO, Chelsea (of course), Southampton and West Ham. Cresswell and Song (loan) especially, have improved them immensely.

The Spanish must be pissing themselves, upeer mid table sides there are all dropping into South America to pick up players like Vietto etc for 4-5million whilst ours have to have their arse over a barrel by massive clubs buying up cheap talent and then flogging them on like Lukaku for 28million.

Something seriously has to be done about it. You look at  the top ten transfers in La Liga in cost and it contains Ronaldo, Bale, James, Figo, Zidane, Suarez, Neymar and Zidane etc

Then you look at the top ten in the EPL and it contains Carroll, Mangala, Lukaku, Robinho, Fernandinho and Torres. It's an absolute joke.

Agree on all three. Southampton have just proven what an absolute joke English premium is. They sold good, but not brilliant players for about a hundred million. It's absolutely ridiculous. The value of scouting shouldn't ever be under-estimated. If Kramaric bags 10 goals from now until May he could well go for double what we paid for him.

Koeman has been terrific in putting together an organised, yet entertaining side. Defensively superb (seriously how on earth has Jose Fonte turned this good) and dangerous in attack too. I see no reason they can't make the top four this year and actually threaten Europe on a regular basis.

lol I've never thought of it that way before.

Amazes me how little English clubs tap into South America. Absolutely full of talent at decent prices. I can appreciate that La Liga probably suits most of them better than the Premier League does however.

To be fair, the EPL HAS seen some great signings made in recent years too. Suarez and Aguero are world class players. Vincent Kompant (when fit) would probably get into most teams in Europe I would say. Man Utd, of course, signed Ronaldo then sold him. Hazard has gone to Chelsea. Same with Oscar.

What I think is blatantly clear is the EPL sees so many signings at hugely over-inflated prices. So many bang average players signed for a kings ransom AND on stupid wages. This doesn't seem to happen much on the continent. When Real Madrid or Barcelona sign a big money name, you just know they are world-class. Not so with the EPL....too much mediocrity at far too much cost.

It's not all bad but for the money spent in the league it's absolutely nowhere near what it should be.

I bet Aguero's back in Spain by July 2016 too.

every signing you mention is from the continent to the prem though, the issue is prem to prem buying. all the decent teams consider each other as "rivals" so won't sell for anything other than ridiculous fees, and everyone knows everyone else has ridiculous money so holds out for maximum money. there's also rarely ever a need to sell in the premier league. southampton are a good example of that, they're financially fine, why would they sell their best players for average prices to rival teams?

there are prem teams picking up bargains all the time over the years just like teams like villerreal, atletico etc do. just the "bigger" teams in the prem let it down by wanting a player, letting it be known to everyone in the world that they want said player and then obviously have to pay over the odds.

also di marzio (the one on the money for the kramaric signing) is reporting chelsea are in for cuadrado. and speaking of chelsea and amazing business it is also being "rumoured" that they will pay for cuadrado entirely with the money they make selling schurrle.

When do we play Everton? We can easily get something there if they're still as shit as this

o yeah! 'cos we can organize a defence like Pulis can, with Lescott and the boys. Invite them on and stop  them even having striking chances at home. Sure we can.

I'm with you, I think we can pick up a result there.

We don't tend to go South America for work permit reasons, they are much easier to obtain in Spain

Great positivity. Leicester "fans" TAKE NOTE, this is what a true fan looks like! I agree buddy we can do it.

Spot on. I think it relates to a lot of South America having some Spanish/Portuguese ancestry due to past colonisation. That's why you see so many Brazilian and Argentinian players popping up in Spain and Portugal.

Work permits, South Americans can get Spanish citizenship in 2 years as well.

Chelsea are apparently signing Juan Cuadrado in this window for £27 million.

Cue months of commentators pointing out that if he were English his name would be 'John Square'.

Forgot. To be a 'true fan' you have to leave any sense of reality or critical faculty at the door and put on the blue and white jester's hat. Certain 6 points against Cheatski and Arsenal. ~C'mon you Filbert

Foxes,one Nigel Pearson etc

Well it wouldn't hurt, we got one point out of the fixtures in reverse, so its not impossible for us to take something.

What's the point of being in this league if we don't enjoy it, historicaly we have always been a yoyo club.

Cheer the fùck up, you are bringing the rest of us down.

Not worth starting a new thread on but yesterday the live TV games for March were picked for BT and Sky. It might have passed you by, mainly because we weren't picked at all.

However the broadcasters still have quotas to fill. So we WILL be the 12:45pm Saturday lunchtime kick-off on BT before the end of the season because we have to be. I think the same applies to Monday Night Football on Sky although I'm not 100% certain on that one.

It shows shying away from success means your games kick-off when they're supposed to. And people said being bottom was shit  ;)
