Albrighton - confirmed transfer

Very very poor player, shades of Ben Marshall for me the odd good game followed by 6-7 average and poor games.

Our transfers so far are poor.

Upson, Morgan Was Moore Delait, premiership strikers wil have a field day.

I'm genuinely disappointed, could it be NP can't get better players to sign for us?

I hope I'm wrong

Something many have come to rely on  ;)

We're still waiting for you to be right about something.

I'm pretty sure staff wear them at carnivals and fairgrounds.

I'm glad we got him in the squad early, more time to mix with the team.

Leicester City signing Marc Albrighton

Marc Albrighton said he did not need persuading thatLeicester City was the right club for him.

That is thanks to club legends Emile Heskey and Martin O'Neill.

The 24-year-old remembers how fondly his former Aston Villa manager O'Neill and team-mate Heskey spoke about their time at Leicester.

Albrighton said that stuck with him when he was considering his next move after leaving Villa following 16 years with the club.

"Emile has never had a bad word to say about the club," said the winger.

"I have not spoken to him for a while and I didn't speak to him about this move, but I remember from his time at Villa how he always looked out for Leicester and it is a club that he holds dear to his heart.

"That stuck with me when I was making my decision.

"He and Martin O'Neill would always look out for Leicester's results on the way back on the team coach.

"For those two to hold the club in high regard made me think it must be a fantastic club."

Albrighton admits it was a shock to be told he was no longer wanted at Villa, but the England Under-21 international said he had already made up his mind before speaking to Nigel Pearson to come to City and is now relishing a fresh start.

"Having been at Villa for 16 years, it is going to be weird and strange to make that change, but it was a decision made by the club for me to go," said Albrighton.

"They said they didn't want my services any more but I don't hold anything against them.

"It is a decision made by them and I have come to a big club in Leicester. I can't wait to get started.

"It was a bit of a shock. I wasn't expecting a massive bumper deal from Villa but, if I am honest, I was expecting something.

"I would have had to assess it anyway. I think the time had come for me to face a new challenge. Sixteen years at a club is a long time and it is something to look forward to now.

"It is a new start, a fresh start for me and my family. I am looking forward to it. There were a couple of offers but I liked how Leicester came across.

"They are a club on the up and looking forward to next season and, hopefully, they can carry the momentum on from last season.

"They have a great manager in Nigel Pearson and the fans are terrific.

"Everything is in place to be a massive club in the Premier League. I want to be a part of that.

"Everything he (Pearson) said was positive and he said he had tried to sign me two or three times before.

"That is nice to hear because you feel wanted and part of his plans.

"There were a few people at Villa who have worked with the manager before and, when they saw I was linked with Leicester, they told me I would love it there."

Good interview, I know players often trot out the usual cliché riddled stuff. But it's nice to hear that others are complimentary about us.

Has anyone heard the foxes player interview? Sounds like someone's tugging on his sack all the way through.

A friend who's a Villa STH says that he doesn't think the lad's Premiership class and he was even more surprised when he heard the amount of money we are rumoured to be paying him. He normally gives a fair opinion on things.

But, on the other side, the Birmingham Mail described Albrighton as Villa's best player at the end of last season.

Strikes me as a strange one. He seems to say in the interview that Villa didn't want to keep him. If he was so effective for them then that's odd. I presumed we'd just outbidded Villa for him.

As ever, I'm going to sensibly reserve judgment until I've seen him play for us. We won't be able to find many 24 year olds with 86 Premier League appearances to their name who are willing to join us at the moment. Especially attacking midfielders.

Okay I admit I was in the vicinity, sure, but I was at the GUM clinic at the Infirmary at the time this interview was recorded, and I have witnesses

There is very much a split between those who aren't bothered and those that say he was their best player at the end of last season (his stats are certainly very good for last season). The opinion I formed by looking on their forum was that they seemed to have the attitude of "not good enough for Villa",  but in the sense that they still think they are a massive club and should be in the top 6.

You have probably noticed that their owner wants to sell up, Lamberts hands are pretty much tied at the minute.  Lambert seemed pretty confident of keeping him here and sounded like he wanted to as well. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/marc-albrighton-set-sign-new-7034894

I think it’s just a matter of terminology, but how can a 24-year old player who has played 86 times over four or so years in the Premiership not be “Premiership Class

If he wasn’t, don’t you think somebody would have noticed by now?

Some of ours fans would say Nugent didn't have a good season so I would't worry too much.

Young player, lots to prove with a manager where youngsters are given a chance and seem to thrive, plus a genuine right winger, all for no transfer fee.

Typical moneybags market leaders Leicester, spending all our pound notes on free transfers.
