Why don't we all just stop worrying?

I do understand why there is some worry, even I look at our team and had hoped that by now we may have had a couple more in.

However, I am very optimistic we won't end up with only four new additions. I read somewhere on here that when asked by Ian Stringer, NP said something along the lines of some deals that seemed a bit of a non-starter a while ago may be revived? I am away currently so I cannot necessarily get access to things as easy so if someone could enlighten me as to what was said there, that would be greatly appreciated. :)

But, yes, when it comes to the crunch - Nigel is our manager and we have to believe his plan will come good once more.

I do partly agree.

Firstly, I have all faith in Nigel Pearson. He's no idiot. He doesn't need telling there's a month left, or whatever. I'd say 95% of his signings, across his two spells here, have been excellent signings for us. He always chooses the right player. That's key here. We shouldn't panic therefore we shouldn't jump in. That'd be worse. His interview post-Everton last week was excellent when he was speaking about getting the right player in. Last thing we want to do is sign a whole load of players.

But I think some of the panic is looking at the defence. Personally I'd like us to bring in a left full back. And overall, we've got a selection of Morgan, Moore, Wasyl and Upson for the two/three centre half places. I admit, it's not encouraging, but Nigel was a solid centre half himself - he knows the score more than any of us - and it's also pretty difficult for a side such as ourselves who have just been promoted to bring in players without spending £££. Then people moan when we spend too much. I mean, QPR had to spend £8,000,000 (was it?) on a defender that was in a relegated side.

It's the thought of starting with maybe Konchesky/Schlupp and Upson.

Imagining the likes of Lukaku, Hazard & Sanchez running at them, is quite scary tbh.

Thats the point, everyone worries about the top players in the Prem, yet they give any defender the run around, we need to be worrying whether our defense is strong enough to contain the likes of Hull, QPR, AV, Burnely, West Brom, these are the teams we NEED to beat...anything against the Liverpools, Man U, Man City, Chelsea etc is a bonus.

Whatever happens if we are to sign more players in the next month it'll be for inflated figures as that's what happens as it gets closer to deadline day. So be prepared for more moaning even if we sign players. Can't win.

More than likely, but we could add that bit of quality or depth, and save ourselves embarrassment, by losing 2-0 instead of 5-0. If we start Konchesky, he would probably be the oldest starting full back in the Premier League. I see already he is the joint oldest along with Hibbert, Demel & Reid, and I doubt they will start for their teams.

They might not necessarily get past us, but it's highly likely they will.

And you saying about pace at centre half, pace at centre half is not essential at all, but we already have it with Moore. We just need competition in the full back spots.

Even if the talent you've mentioned manages to get past our defenders, it's still not a given that they'll actually score.

This extreme scenario has become a bit of a worn-out argument of yours lately.

For some reason, I sense that you have no confidence in our team at all.

We still have an entire month to sign more players, so for now, I'd just take a chill pill and let it all work out in front of your eyes.

Kyle Naughton would be a decent signing, he's available too I think.. Did well for us on loan a few years ago too!

And what position do you think he'll play.

I've got a stack of weed I'm willing to share around if anyone's having problems not worrying.

Where I am on holiday at present, there is a window with a sign in it. The sign quite clearly reads - 'Canabas for Hire' however; my dyslexia and poor defected eyesight mistook that as Canabis at first glance. It would certainly be a new approach to family holidays for sure.

Cool story bro

Naughton is a good shout but my concern would be, is he willing to be back up? De laet has surely done enough to warrant being our first choice right back, so I doubt Naughton will want to be on the bench every week. Im also not sure if Nige might think some of the academy lads could step up if needed. Its unlikely as they've not played many first team minutes at championship level, never mind prem. Maybe should send a few of the top ones out on loan. Better to be playing first team in champ/league 1 than playing development games

Naughton does play LB too but I think most Spurs fans will agree he's better on the right

Everyone uses that argument but it would be scary with any defence. We're not going to sign anyone that will cope comfortably with that calibre of player and neither will many teams.

If we'd have signed Haangeland for instance, would you feel any more comfortable? I know I wouldnt.

The team has earned our faith so we should show a little.

Fair enough, but I think it's the fact our fixtures in the first two months in particular are very difficult, we could surprise a few and pick up 9-12 points. Or we could lose every game, as away games at Stoke are never easy, and of course we have to play against Everton, Chelsea, Man Utd & Arsenal. I wouldn't want to sign Hangeland anyway, I think Nigel will go into the season with his four centre backs, which I'm more than happy with, I love Wes & Liam and have every confidence in them. Upson & Wasilewski not so much, but they will come in handy in some games.

But like I said above, considering who we have in the first two months, we could surprise, but we could well come out of it with 0 points at all.

If we had signed some competition for De Laet, a new LB & maybe a midfielder of some sort by now, then I would be happy. I think it's the fact we haven't been linked with a single player for about a week, which is making me frustrated, I just want some new rumours to get us excited. Do we want to be signing players after the games against Everton & Chelsea, and be waiting until deadline day, not the most ideal situation as it's best getting players in before the Bremen friendly at least.

I have confidence in the team, but I just feel we would look better & stronger with a few more additions. I'm happy with Kasper, Morgan, Moore, Drinkwater, James & our attacking options from the wingers to strikers. I'm not De Laet's biggest fan but he deserves a shot, but still we have no competition for him. There's players out there like Kyle Naughton & Martin Kelly not getting game time, one of them would be sufficient.

just because we havent been linked with anyone recently, doesn't mean we aren't talking to players/ trying to get deals done. Nige generally doesn't disclose his targets and has probably been annoyed when rumours have come out in the past few months. Nige is no idiot and people should have more faith in him!

Worry worry worry

Must be worry

In the football world.

Worry worry worry

Always worry

In the football world.

Aha-ahaaa

All the things I could do

If I had a bit less worry

In the football world.

Pointless thread. I could just as easily say why aren't you worried, and list a million reasons why you should be. You have your optimists and your pessimists.

I agree, but is it necessarily pessimistic to believe that we need to do a little more business if we're to be ready for the new season? Surely that's just pragmatic. And, to me, some of the optimism on here is just a little idealistic and blinkered. There have been plenty of pessimists on here in the past, but - understandably - I don't see too many of them at the moment.

We'll see who the irrational optimists and the irrational pessimists are 7 or 8 weeks into the new season. Right now the discussion is surely what we need - working on the sensible assumption that our squad needed improving on - in order to compete at the highest level. I'm 100% certain that NP has a similar perspective.

We're LCFC fans, worrying is what we do. First time back in the Prem for years is something to strain the nerves.

I trust NP - but it'll be a tough season.

just so you're aware, we can sign players up until the end of August. It isn't all doom and gloom if 4 new players don't walk through the door this week! I'd rather Nige spend all the time he needs to get the right players rather than just bringing in players for the sake of it!

To all the people "worried" about the future staffing arrangements of their local sporting team, can you please share tips on how to worry about this instead of how to make mortgage repayments, car repayments, safety of kids, family, work security etc.?
