Soar Fox Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 With a tough set of opening fixtures how many points do you realistically think we'll have after the first 5 games? I think we'll have 4. Beat Arsenal and get a draw at Stoke.
JackHartshorn Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 5 points but I believe we'll draw with Everton and arsenal and have a win at stoke.
Harry - LCFC Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 I'd be pleased with four - 0.8 points a game isn't far off survival form against the top teams in the league. I think it's likely we'll bottom three after the first five games. One or two points I'm guessing.

RowlattsFox Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 As pessimistic as it sounds I just hope we are off the mark.
foxfanazer Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 I really think we'll beat Everton next week and then draw a couple. 5 points which would be terrific
bluesbrothers Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 I think most level-headed folk are saying 4 or 5 points isn't unreasonable. Any more would be brilliant, but that would still be enough to see us towards the 35-40 points we need to declare ourselves "safe". Make no mistake: they're all tough games, even Stoke. But it's very difficult to gauge how we'll cope until the first ball is kicked.
Captain... Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Honestly, if I was putting money on it, 2 points, draw Everton at home and draw Stoke away. If it wasn't for the fact that these matches were so close together nobody would predict any points against Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, the only thing in our favour is how close to the start of the season it is, United will need to adjust to Van Gaal, all 3 will have a lot of players that missed a lot of preseason after the world cup, and it will take time for new signings to settle, but realistically I wouldn't put any money on us getting anything out of these games. Stoke away is always going to be tough, and Everton, "the best of the rest", will be a tough opener.
Babylon Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 God knows... I'm scared to even look at the fixture list anymore. When you look at it and think QPR and Burnley are the easiest looking games, and they were some of our most difficult last year it's pretty scary.
reynard Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Has to be a fair chance we will end up with 0 points at all from these games. Not saying that will happen but I wouldn't bet against it. The Everton game is really key in my eyes. If we get off to a positive start and manage a win then that would be great but a heavy defeat (say 3-0) and I fear for the next few fixtures. Anyone expecitng anything at Stoke is probably in for a disappointment. They are going to be a possible top ten side this season.
Nick Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Somewhere between 0-15. I can see so many scenario's happening I wouldn't like to hazard a guess even. It wouldn't surprise me if we beat Man U and Everton and lost to the rest.
foxfanazer Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 We will be a very dangerous side on our day and certainly won't fear anybody. You see surprise results most weeks in the prem so don't rule us out
Haydos Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 I'd be happy with a win from those opening games. 4 points would be decent. 5 or more would be fantastic.
HitchinFox Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 The most important thing is that what ever happens we don't get carried away. 2 points? That's ok. Before the fixtures came out and placed all these games close together, my guess is that most here would've been happy with a draw at Stoke and a draw at home against Everton (and pretty much nothing from the other three) - a team that is knocking on the door of being a top four team. This is a season of consolidation and we just need to make sure we win our games against the Hulls, Burnleys and Villas and pick up those random draws and a couple of surprise wins here and there. 7 points or more? An unbelievable feat that would set us up nicely confidence wise. If this happens it's probably because teams haven't yet identified our strengths and weaknesses. But remember Hull. Remember Blackpool. Prem teams can quickly figure you out. A barnstorming start is just that - a start. If I had to put money on it, I'd go for 3 points. All draws. Still looking for first win after five. Not because I'm a pessimist but because I usually get things wrong. One of the things that made last season so amazing was that I didn't see us doing much more than play offs before the season. I love to be proven wrong.
daddylonglegs Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 It's a genuine possibility we'll have 0 points from the first five games, but we can't be TOO pessimistic going into the season. Yes, the premier league is 'a lot better than the championship' but we were SO much better than the Championship, surely this squad will be OK in the prem? as previously said, however, the games against the big teams wont define our season - the most important thing is that if we do end up bottom after 5 is that Pearson has the players prepared for that and ready to go again after that., i reckon 4.
Aus Fox Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Beat Everton 2-1 Loose to Chelsea 2-0 Draw with Arsenal 2-2 Draw with Stoke 1-1 Lose 2-1 to United 5 points from 5 tough games should set us up for a solid season
