jayfox26 Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 It annoys me if this is true, it's only ****ing West Ham! They are no bigger or better than we are, yes they are currently more established in the prem but thats it. If Chelsea or Spurs came in fair enough but west ham! We have offered him a deal, no trial, no bullshit but he would still rather go to West Ham despite their doubts on his ability and fitness. Well good luck to you Esteban, have fun at ****ing West Ham or QPR or whichever wank London club you end up at!
MGLCFC Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 It's a typical LCFC forum when it comes to transfers, 'best thing since sliced bread' when we are signing someone, 'not that brilliant, passed it, legs have gone etc.' if we're not. I'll bet the reactions, should he sign, will be over the top. Personally, I think someone of this stature would help our cause this year, help develop our very promising, yet relative young midfielders (except Hammond), help attract other players here and raise the profile of the club. However, if he doesn't sign, I won't start slagging him off - just move on.

Some just want the London life in England.

LinekersApples Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 His legs have gone anyway. Old and overrated
dayday Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Why would Nigel go for somebody like Cambiasso in the first place,he must have done his homework on the player, even if he does sign I have huge doubts about what sort of player we are going to get,Kingy and Hammond have been playing second fiddle for large parts of last season..yet there attitude is impeccable. That's the kind of players we need, hungry players who when asked to play give 100 per cent.
jayfox26 Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 It's London though mate. Madrid, to Milan to Leicester? Some just want the London life in England. true, I do get that, but the most annoying thing is, if he never wanted to come here, he should have said so 2 weeks ago and we could have moved onto other targets. Its gone on too long and could have been sorted by him just saying thanks but no thanks
Kitchandro Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Call it off now. We may not be the most fashionable club in the world but that's no reason to accept somebody stringing us along. If he doesn't want to leave Milan to come to a city which he doesn't consider to be good enough for him, and is hanging on for a gig in London, then fine; but he shouldn't pretend he's interested if he's not. We deserve more respect than that and thankfully I think Pearson thinks so too.
Rich77 Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Would have/ could be a good signing, he's entitled to look at other options after all whoever he signs for it will be his last deal, I do hope he chooses us but with current injurys it needs to be soon or give us a difinertive answer yes or no so we can close the deal or look at other options
Webbo Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Thing is, from a neutral point of view, what incentive is there to join Leicester? He's coming from Inter, having previously played for Real Madrid, what are we to him? A new premiership club, sure we have ambition but I can see why he'd be skeptical. We're hardly offering him big bucks too, so that's not even an added incentive. £50k a week isn't big bucks? If that kind of money isn't enough to buy a bit of enthusiasm then I'd rather he f'cked off.
jayfox26 Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 To be fair, West Ham are a bigger club then Leicester. Whether they are better is very debatable though.[/quote that depends on how you define 'bigger club'. Their stadium is slightly bigger than ours and they may have more history, but I prefer to look at the here and now. We have far superior training facilities and youth academy and probably have more money and better finances. Not many people outside of the UK will have heard of either West Ham or Leicester. I may be biased but I don't think West Ham are any bigger than we are!
st albans fox Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 we should be careful slating him. we dont know how much of this posturing is down to him and how much to his representatives. if we are dealing with his brother and other interested parties are appearing and demanding a share then his brother may have to pay them out and perhaps thats what NP was referring to in his comments. it does seem that he wants to be in london. if no one offers him a deal there then he has no choice. i dont think we should be hard on a foreigner for wanting to be in london ahead of leicester. however, we need to look after ourselves so an ultimatum should be forthcoming from us and we should move on very soon.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 £50k a week isn't big bucks? If that kind of money isn't enough to buy a bit of enthusiasm then I'd rather he f'cked off. Admittedly it would sway me, but it's a 20K wage drop for Cambiasso, maybe he thinks he can get more?
Bettsj2 Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 I really wanted to sign him but now I'd be disappointed if we did. They have been giving us the runaround since they leaked the story to the press. I'm not sure any player is worth how this has played out.

I may be biased but I don't think West Ham are any bigger than we are! They've got more fans and will be moving into the Olympic Stadium soon (albeit it won't be anywhere near full). This is all besides the point anyway. We have to accept that he probably doesn't care how big the club is (I doubt he is excited by the idea of playing for West Ham), if he goes there it will be for location and how much he is being paid. We have to deal with that reality but we don't have to deal with being the bait for them.
ElusiveEd Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 I think some of this "Becoming the devil when he was once the messiah" is down to our love of the club and someone coming along and trying to take the piss out of us. I'm sure we would all defend our club to the hilt and when someone tries to undermine the respect, name and morals of LCFC, NP and his staff with underhand tactics we understandably respond accordingly with the disdain they may well deserve.
Webbo Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Am I right in thinking that as he's a free agent he can still be signed after the window shuts?
MGLCFC Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Am I right in thinking that as he's a free agent he can still be signed after the window shuts? But our squad has to be registered at the end of the transfer window.

Cambiasso is in control of his own career. If goalposts are being moved t shouldn't matter how many agents he has. Cambiasso should be held responsible. If he was bothered about being here the terms wouldn't keep changing at the last minute. Don't you understand, we're not being hard on him for wanting to go to London, we're being hard on him because he's most likely using us to drum up interest from other clubs and has been pissing us around for over 2 weeks. Admittedly it would sway me, but it's a 20K wage drop for Cambiasso, maybe he thinks he can get more? Well he can't, so he can deal with it or bugger off.
Bettsj2 Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Admittedly it would sway me, but it's a 20K wage drop for Cambiasso, maybe he thinks he can get more? He probably could get more in Spain but he's stated he wants to play in England. None of the top clubs here need him and it appears the draw of London is what he's after. In Premier league terms that means realistically QPR or West Ham. Outside of the capital, we make sense (shortest commute etc). The conduct of his representativs has been bloody awful and I really think we should (very publicly) step away.

I may be biased but I don't think West Ham are any bigger than we are! No harm in being biased towards your own team, we all do it. I would say how big a club is, is defined by amount of fans, club history and standard of facilities. They have more fans and a better history but the standard of facilities, as you say, is debatable. If I was a West Ham fan I wouldn't want Cambiasso, he seems to be making his decision based on non-footballing reasons such as location and money. Not because there is any club he particularly wants to play for, he sees himself as bigger and better then Leicester and that is a very poor attitude to have. Good riddance to him I say.
Webbo Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 But our squad has to be registered at the end of the transfer window. In that case I hope he doesn't sign for anyone and he has to go 3 months with no wages, see how his agents like their 15 % of f'ck all.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 I don't think Cambiasso himself is the major problem here although of course he holds the key to whether he wants to come or not. We all get our heads turned by friends and family sometimes. I still hope he comes. He's a terrific player.
MHC Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Am I right in thinking that as he's a free agent he can still be signed after the window shuts? Yes we can, as long as there is a free space left in the the registered squad and he is signed before November.

Cambiasso should be held responsible. as incredible as it sounds, i have spoken to a few people within the game who tell me differently. a lot of players do as their agents tell them. however , a player of EC's age and experience should definitely not fit into this category. what you (and i) dont know is what his reps may have been up to regarding things like his image rights without his full knowledge.
