Shrewsbury Post Match Thread

Well if memory serves me right, the reason on here (excuses?) given for crashing out last season was because we were going for promotion. This season, I presume it's because we want to retain our Premiership status?

It's a far cry since MON and doing both.. Ie staying in the Prem and winning cups.

Poor night..again shows our lack of depth IMO.

I agree Col

We just haven't got a strong enough squad

Seriously the club haven't held the cup competitions in high regard for a few seasons now. The decision to only open one stand tonight further highlights that for me. We always knew a second string with a mix of youth would play tonight against a strong Shrewsbury team who would be up for it.

It would have been good for us to win and I'm disappointed, but I'm not shocked.

I don't understand what those booing were in general expecting from tonight, our reserves just turning up and rolling over a team who have had a good start to the season?

If we haven't got a strong enough squad, it is hardly wise to try and progress in the cup is it?

That's not true, we've reached the quarter-finals of both cups in the last three seasons.

Are the people moaning about what effect this result could have on us against Arsenal the same people that booed the players off the pitch? Makes sense.......

People can say what they want about team selection showing we aren't taking the game seriously but no matter what side we put out we should have enough quality to beat a League 2 side.

Reserve players in a Premiership squad should be good enough to beat a League 2 side. However they clearly couldn't be arsed tonight.

It's similar to when we played Stoke back in January, Nigel decided to make a few changes ahead of that tie and Stoke did win but I wouldn't say I was convinced by them. I do think if we had started with the regulars in that game we may have beaten Stoke. Tonight though it wasn't just problem of the changes it was some regulars that did feature tonight just didn't sound up for tonight;s game. Many just had their mind on Sunday.

I'm not angry about tonight's results, neither about losing but disappointed in the overall performance.

First of all, fair play to Shrewsbury. Sounds like they were really up for it and battled hard to get the result.

However, our team wasn't that 'weak' we had 3 debutants and GTF as the 'weak' part of our team, the rest of the players are championship players at a minimum, they really should've had enough to see off a league 2 team ffs.

As for the fans, the booing at the end I have mixed feelings about, on one hand they have just wasted £15 to watch a horrendous game of football from a Leicester point of view, but surely that's not going to help anyone, it will effect the players confidence even more going forward and it won't change the result. Support your team.

Onwards and upwards, looking forward to Sunday. COYB.

Fans thinking that we were going to win this cup this season? Modern life IS rubbish....

Assume you thought we were dead certs in '97 and 2000 then?

Didn't think we'd win the cup. We've only won 3 cups in our history. Still want them to win every game, mind. Is that odd?

But following the Stoke game we won 10 on the spin and were unbeaten until April?

I literally couldn't care less about this competition, it's not the same competition as we won in 2000, the seriousness has been watered down so much that certain managers would prefer losing.

Don't agree with the notion that you can boo if you've paid to go. You shouldn't be going to watch football if you expect us to win every week. Does nobody any good at all and makes people lok like tits to be honest

Supporters failed to turn up so you can't blame the players for not turning up either!

why should season ticket holders turn up to pay to go to a game and watch shrewsbury town ? should be included in the ST price then it would have been a good crowd.

I'm on the fence with it to be honest. But what I would say is although I don't expect us to win every week, I do expect us to beat a team 3 leagues below us in the cup.

I don't blame Pearson. That side was more than good enough. It's the players attitude's I'm not happy with. Not enough effort or desire to win the game.

I doubt that very much. Just not a good enough team IMO. I won a few quid on tonight's result if truth be told. They hadn't lost this season and we put out quite a weak side. I'm not surprised.

This probably sounds daft but personally I couldn't give a flying f**k about the Capital One cup. Especially now that we're a fledgling Premier League side. First things first and the priority must be to stay up. Don't need any distractions this autumn - especially with a slim squad.

I know our only "major" trophy wins are the League Cups but I'm afraid it has become a pointless competition. The FA Cup is different as it still has status, it can give a team a boost and the players place genuine value on it.

Never happy to see Leicester lose but tonight's result doesn't bother me at all.
