jimmeh Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 Anyone else feel a bit sorry for Wenger. They are always so quick to criticise him. There is always something... not winning a trophy, not spending enough money, not having enough english players (previous years) not signing a striker. The fans are always against him too. I am genuinely shocked at it all. Wenger is a legend for what he has done for the English game.

Harry - LCFC Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 No. Arsenal fans were telling him what to do a few times. "Sign a fvcking striker" was the chant. This is literally a case of the fans knowing better than the manager. Deserves all the stick he gets.

Jace Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 Wenger doesn't know what he's doing, that must be how he had the only unbeatable team ever in the history in the Premiership.
AKCJ Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 Do I think deserves the stick he gets? Yes. Do I think SKY go overboard? Yes. Do I think he's a twat? Yes.
bovril Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 I always find it hilarious / frustrating when fans come on 606 and demand their team "spend money" as if that will automatically get results, despite the fact that said team has just failed to beat another team that hasn't spent as much money.
Stadt Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 Whilst I don't think Wenger is as good as he was he does get too much stick What strikers are available that'll fire them to a title? None. And I hate Arsenal's deluded, self-entitled, expectant little dorks.
Harry - LCFC Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 Walcott. Podolski. Giroud. Sanago. Sanchez. Campbell Are those players good enough to play centre forward for a title winning team? It's about quality not quantity. Some of those players aren't even strikers anyway.
jimmeh Posted 31 August 2014 Author Posted 31 August 2014 Fans of these kind of clubs think spending loads of money means instant success. Don't work like that. What exactly has Ozil done? Hes awful.
Leicesterpool Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 Wenger as certainly over stayed his welcome yeah they won the fa cup fair enough but in recent years they barely get past the first knockout stage in the champions league, they've not really been involved in the title race for a long time, poor record in the league cup, plus in recent years they've been fortunate to finish in the top four. I do think Arsenal can be much stronger force in Europe but not under Wenger.
copunk Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 in no way deserves the stick he gets, 3 premier leagues, 5 fa cups and a whole season unbeaten, turning unknown players at the time such as henry, fabregas, nasri, van persie into world class stars, people forget what hes done for arsenal, maybe hes running out of steam a little now with the games changing every year, but no way does he deserve the s**t he gets from the press and a small majority of arsenal fans
jimmeh Posted 31 August 2014 Author Posted 31 August 2014 If I was Wenger I wouls refuse all interviews and send steve bould.
Buzzell Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 The only thing I can criticise Wenger for is him playing Sanogo. Shocking player.
Stuliasz Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 I love Alan Smith's description of Sanogo - "not fully developed". Nicest possible way of putting it!
Guesty Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 The problem is he's paid nearly £7 mil a year and is the 4th highest paid manager in the world so I think their fans have less patience with him. Especially when their cheapest season ticket is £1000<. When there are problems I think the fans expect money to be spent and get frustrated when it isn't and I can sort of understand that. A lot of it does seem to be stubbornness. I think the stick he gets is unfair but can also understand it. You can only live on past glories for so long and with the wages he gets and the season ticket prices charged 1 FA Cup in 9 years is not really good enough.
The Blur Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 Walcott. Podolski. Giroud. Sanago. Sanchez. Campbell Not a striker. Not good enough. Long term injury. Not good enough. Not a striker. Inexperienced.
theessexfox Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 Sanogo a huge scapegoat. Maybe not clinical and top class enough for a Top 4 side but a very competent footballer. He's what, 21? and has been thrown in at the deep end.
foxfanazer Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 I feel he's failed to adapt to modern football. He was brilliant in the 90's early 00's but his stubbornness in the market has hampered him for years imo

Rincewind Posted 1 September 2014 Posted 1 September 2014 Wenger hasn't got worse as much as the team has. He has a team of internationals who consider themselves as individuals. Pearson has a team of individuals who consider themselves a part of a team..
ScouseFox Posted 1 September 2014 Posted 1 September 2014 I like wenger. Spending money isn't the best thing all the time. He gets that. He could've spent 50 mill on Torres. Still had no decent strikers but be 50 mill down. He's been forced to buy big two seasons in a row and ozil is now detrimental to the side and I'm sure only playing because he cost so much. cos he's pretty shit most the time.
