FIFA 15

Just started my Career Mode on Legendary. Good start 2-1 wins against Everton and Arsenal and then 2-2 away at Chelsea (conceded in the last min).

Sold Nugent (Grewks will be delighted to know) GTF, Zoom, Hopper, Smith and I've pretty much completed depleted my budget. I got a slight boost to it at the start from playing x amount of career mode games on 15 or 14. Not sure which.

Signed:

  • Joel Campbell (75) RM - £1.9m
  • Connor Wickham (72) ST - £2.1m
  • Zakaria Bakkali (71) RW - £1.1m (who with the new player models, looks like a small child running around because he's so small!)
  • Jon Flanagan (71) LB - £2m
  • Arlind Ajeti (66) CB - £0.12m
  • Harry Kyprianou (57) LWB - £0.52m

Basically signed young players with 1 year left on their contract as they will get better and its an easy way to make money. Although I'll probably be hanging onto them for a while. Between them they've managed about 5 mins pitch time courtesy of Bakkali's cameo against Chelsea. Ulloa's got 3 in 3, Vardy got 2 MOM's, whilst King and Cambiasso are bossing the midfield.

Definitely think I've got the hang of the game now, although I'll probably lose to Stoke and beat the big boys  lol .

Also, why do we all make it out like some players are playing poorly and its out of our control, when its all down to us?!  :nigel:

Hmmmm. Overall liking it so far. The ball seems to break more randomly (realistically) than before leading to less predictable plays. I had a good start on career mode but suddenly seem to have gone shit losing three in a row. Is there some kind of hidden "balancing" going on?

This fifa is amazing. Love it.

If anyone has a soider set or some tips, regarding the single player I be grateful, wish it played at a similar style and pace to online 1v1.

They have got the keepers wrong on this, when the ball is over head height they seem to have no idea they're on a football pitch never mind playing in goal.

Everything else is delightful though, it feels very clunky and realistic. Players that can't keep their fingers of the sprint button are being shafted left right and center, it's great!

They're in career mode...?

In terms of scouting they aren't and it could go to all areas being like this. Personally if it does I believe it will help people's footballing knowledge and how to pick teams etc

Hahaha that's me. I've only owned Fifa 11 (briefly), Fifa 12 and this. My last fifa before that was 98. Most of my football gaming life has been spent on PES where you basically hold sprint permanently!

To be fair, on FUT at least, this seems to be a very pace/power year. But I am having to learn to take my foot off the gas and out think people. Especially defending.

Sitting pretty in 10th on my career. Ulloa not even getting in my squad though, really under performing, wood has made a big impact for me. I'm beginning to get used to the defeniding now although I do find it frustrating have such a lack of control over players movements without the ball

He's the only one consistently scoring in mine, I'm 14th after 9 games he's scored 7, vardy, nuge, James, konch and albrighton all have one goal.

Gonna go get this tomorrow after work I reckon. Do Game or the other gaming stores still allow you to trade in old games against new 1s? I haven't bought a game off anywhere but shopto online in years.

yea you can trade in games but dont expect to get a huge amount for them. Sometimes different places have offers like extra 20% on trade ins so keep your eye out

Yeah I've been playing Leicester v Newcastle with my mate quite a bit and they have some blistering pace. If you step forward and lose the momentum they can be 5 yards past you before you realise.

I've started just rushing people back as soon as I lose possession now which seems to be working with decent success. The only think I will never be able to control it seems is the players that have automatic assistance on through balls. They're almost impossible to defend against all game. One slip up and the perfect weighted through ball goes through to their striker.

Schlupp, Vardy, Mahrez, Simpson and De Laet are machines on this when they get going!

Automatic assistance on through balls?

In the settings, you can choose to play on manual or assisted settings for things like shooting, crossing, passing.

Even online? That's a bit ridiculous isn't it?

I'm not finding the game that bad so far tbh (which says alot given how I absolute hate the previous 3 or 4 releases)

Few things though

Goalkeepers commiting to diving either side is a bit retarded seeing as usually it leaves the middle completely open, a lot of goals i've seen so far just go straight through him

Passing is very slick

How they can release a game with the number of bugs in pro clubs in particular is beyond me

The impact system is totally buggered yet again (just like it was when they brought it out on 12 or 13) but it makes for some hilarious challenges and slips etc. Also computer players on our team (clubs) are dirty little bastards, we've conceded so many penalties because of their reckless sliding in, it's almost assault lol

Had an incident on clubs the other day where the other team had a free kick and changed so they had a 2nd/3rd player involved. The guy taking the free kick was then stuck right behind the 2nd player. He had to run past the player and then as he kicked the ball he was always a yard or two short of connecting to it lol. The timer goes into real time when set pieces are being taken, we were there for 7 mins with the player repeatedly kicking thin air and a player from our wall charging the ball down just to trudge back to where he came from lol

Even online. Yes it is ridiculous.

Ugh.

In other news, can you play a career being both the manager and having a create a pro at the same time?

Yeah, weirdly if I set it to manual/semi in the matchmaker settings I never seem to find a match ha! I usually go for semi, if that's not available then I'll go for manual.

It feels like a cheap result if anything is on assisted.

Posted

Oh so if you have it on, you only play against other people with it on?

I only know for seasons, but basically the options are "Any", "Semi", "Manual". The default is any, so whatever you play with has no effect on your opponents controls. I think they're locked if Semi or Manual are selected in the match maker settings,

I couldn't get to grips with the transfers in career mode on Fifa 14 so I haven't touched it this year.. seems I could scout players but trying to buy them was a struggle. Than again I can be a bit of a thicko.

Genuine question, is there anyone else with the game that doesn't like to play vs the AI and only prefers to play online matches/against friends?

Used to, would only ever play Seasons and not touch any other modes. I got pretty good online but I just got fed up of the idiots. Because I haven't played online for so long I became really crap and just constantly lost games, I've got to a point now where going online gets me in a mood so I would rather play AI and actually enjoy playing FIFA.

Haha I'm like you used to be then, only ever touch Seasons unless a mate is online to have a game with. Could never get into playing the AI, games always seemed to be a bit predictable. That's probably changed with this years edition to be fair. The ball feels a lot looser and prone to bouncing anywhere so it could mix things up a bit.
