Manwell Pablo Posted 15 October 2014 Posted 15 October 2014 My word. The definition of World Class is clearly far different than what it used to be. If he is those things we have nothing to worry about as it appears we already have the best keeper in the world. World Class handling especially. I like him but World Class at everything apart from command of his area, come off it .
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 15 October 2014 Posted 15 October 2014 But that's your opinion though, no? Just like I've expressed mine? Ofcourse, I was just interested to see who you place above him in the league?
Freesolo Posted 15 October 2014 Posted 15 October 2014 Ofcourse, I was just interested to see who you place above him in the league? I'd say some teams No2 keeper is better than kasper
Guest MattP Posted 15 October 2014 Posted 15 October 2014 I'd say some teams No2 keeper is better than kasper Chelsea's certainly is, they probably have the best two keepers in the World I like Kasper but no way could I put him above a Begovic or a Krul on what we have seen yet. I don't see how anyone could.
Matt Posted 15 October 2014 Posted 15 October 2014 He needs a break I think, just a game or two. If Hamer comes in and does a good job well unfortunately for Kasper that's the way the cookie crumbles.
Stadt Posted 15 October 2014 Posted 15 October 2014 Hamer should start at Newcastle. Based on going to all our games bar two this season and watching them on the tele not tonight. Hamer looked class at Stoke and made some world class shot stopping saves in the second half himself. Commanding and a shot stopper you say? And the only keeper with a clean sheet to his name? Get him in. It's not as black and white as that, besides if Hamer was a better keeper he'd be starting every week and wouldn't be content with playing second fiddle to somebody worse than him. He's an error prone keeper, in the few times that I saw Charlton last season he made errors as well as the clangers in preseason. You could make a case for Hamer keeping his place after Stoke but dropping Kasper now wouldn't achieve anything. Basing your assessment on one game isn't enough and Stake were large awful so Hamer didn't gain us that clean sheet, their collective ineffectiveness and our whole backline did as well as Hamer.
yorkie1999 Posted 15 October 2014 Posted 15 October 2014 Thought he was a bit suspect, especially when i noticed in last years matchday program he was sponsored by specsaver's
TheStig Posted 15 October 2014 Posted 15 October 2014 I was not at all impressed by Hamer in his first and up to now only PL match. In the first half he managed to let the ball bounce of his chest and back into play - luckily without consequences. He seemed nervous (understandable) but having him replacing Schmeichel at this point seems madness. In KS we have a good keeper - and all players are prone to mistakes - even the goalkeeper.......
Guest Col city fan Posted 15 October 2014 Posted 15 October 2014 I thought Kasper's strengths and weaknesses were clear to see? Shot stopping: Good Distribution: Average One on ones: Very good Aerial ability: Pretty poor. Positioning: Usually good (against Burnley completely shite) Who on earth is saying world class?
Narborough_fox Posted 15 October 2014 Posted 15 October 2014 The first time I saw it I thought he'd dropped a clanger coming off his line to attempt to get to the ball but when you watch it again there is absolutely nothing Schmeichel can so about it. Ronlado simply out jumped him, I'm sure he's done that to plenty of other goalkeepers, even if he'd stayed on his line it was in the top corner. Just because he's come off his line and not got there doesn't make it a 'mistake'. He made an outstanding save against Ronaldo earlier in the game, spreading yourself so big isn't as easy as people think it and he doesn't get anywhere near enough credit for it in my opinion. His distribution yesterday was also very good, picked out some very good passes and didn't just hoof it aimlessly like he used to do. Yes, he's got flaws but if he didn't have any, to put it simply, he wouldn't be with at Leicester. He's not in the best form of his life but if there was one player in our squad I'd back to change their fortunes around it would be Kasper, especially with Hamer now knocking on the door after his solid display at Stoke, people seem to be over exaggerating how good he was, don't forget how bad his distribution was.

Positioning against Burnley.. The freekick you mean? Speroni and Cudicini said they would of done the same thing in that situation and it a player can get it up and down in that short space it deserves a goal.
Unabomber Posted 15 October 2014 Posted 15 October 2014 I think we all know what has happened here. He was playing out of his skin and then he got his new contract and now suddenly he is doggo, just goes to show as the saying goes "those who get the contract then seem to show a dip in form' shame as I thought he would go against the grain and make the step up while continuing to impress.

I thought he was a bit too near the other post for it Made it a bigger target. That being said he's won us shit loads of points since he's been here
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 16 October 2014 Posted 16 October 2014 The match report on sky sports said he had a brilliant game. Anybody mentioned that? The Times also mentioned his inspired performance and said Denmark would have been well out of the game but for Schmeichel.

Hold on. Am I missing something here? For me, Kasper has been at fault for ONE goal this season? The Burnley free kick. Other than that he's been pretty solid. He hasn't had too many spectacular performances but the reason for that is that in most games he's had very little to do! That's hardly his fault.
Nod.E Posted 16 October 2014 Posted 16 October 2014 World Class handling especially. I like him but World Class at everything apart from command of his area, come off it . Idiotic. You pick the one complete howler he is guilty of committing during his time here as evidence of poor handling? You could find a clip of Neuer doing something similar if you tried hard enough. Are you telling me his handling is poor too? And for those doubting his distribution, what are you watching? Such an asset. His flat kicks out of his hands are priceless and his distribution off the ground 95% of the time is absolutely pinpoint. I'd say his long passing ability trumps that of some of our outfield players. Plus, just take a second to understand just how far his kicks off the floor in comparison to other keepers. I would love to see some stats on the average distance of his kicks compared to other PL keepers. It's such an advantage that we put the opposition on the back foot from a goal kick. We've scored so many goals out of nothing from exactly that and Kasper never gets the credit he deserves. I think as fans we have become accustomed to his kicks and take them as the standard. Just pay attention to it for a couple of games. Compare his kicks to his opposite number. You'll see what I mean.

As for people questioning his distribution when we are winning he tends to kick to the wings, no? Answers on a postcard to why he does that please.

I'd be amazed if you could find a clip of Neuer handling a football like that.
Fox Ulike Posted 16 October 2014 Posted 16 October 2014 Brilliant. If only Ben Hamer was German then they'd have a ready-made replacement.
ScouseFox Posted 16 October 2014 Posted 16 October 2014 hahaha. i agree with your point, kasper's handling isn't what i'd describe as world class but you threw down a challenge that's about the only one i found in 5 mins on youtube though, only other "mistakes" are just bad clearances that lead to chances. half of which he saves anyway .

I'm just saying it's not World Class, which it clearly isn't Why do 90% of the people on this forum have to deal in extremes. He doesn't have world class handing, obviously I'm not going to post every mistake he's ever made, I don't have all day.
Freesolo Posted 16 October 2014 Posted 16 October 2014 I think all keepers are going to have bad games how good did De Gea look against us? Admittedly 2 goals were from pens and there defense was shocking but when I watched the United Everton Game he was unreal, world class and won the game for them.
