£6m?

Transfer window history: Cheerful. Leicester City’s Thai owners have proven generous in the past, forking out a club record £8 million for Leonardo Ulloa. There will be money to spend in January: and it must be spent wisely.

Budget: £6 million. Pearson wants to sign a striker and a centre-half and intends to strike quickly at the start of the transfer window.

Dream signing: Jermain Defoe. The short-term signing of Defoe is certainly ambitious but his goalscoring record is exactly a club like Leicester needs as they battle relegation.

Probable signing: Andrej Kramaric. The HNK Rijeka striker is on Pearson’s radar and other clubs, but £8 million could be enough.

Other targets: Kyle Naughton, Steve Cook, Curtis Davies

6mil in the Prem will only get you one decent player... unless you unlock some real bargain gems, which is a risk when you need to be sure of the quality and that they can handle the league.

contradicts itself with £8 million should be enough for Kramaric

Probably missed off a zero and it is 60 million really lol

By budget they could mean net spend. Say spend £10m on a striker and a centre back and sell £4m worth of players.

To be honest, the best chance we have of signing quality players is on loan. The likes of Mitrovic who would command £10 million just won't happen as he'd not come here when we're rooted to the bottom. Players will come on loan though as they can then sod off if we go down, we should be focusing on securing some good loan players even if we have to pay sizeable fees for them. Staying up is essential.

Exactly this. £6 million in loan fees perhaps.

Why the **** are people taking this figure as if it has come from the chairmans mouth?

Not a clue. Some journo plucks a number and a couple of players out of the air and everyone takes it as gospel.

Because he said we'd sign Powell and Ulloa, oh and that our budget was £10m in the summer (all of which came true). People can pretend he has no idea, but the bloke is very often right about us.

If Mr Percy is right again about us (which he has been proven to be on numerous past occassions) £6m is not enough to keep us in this division unless there is some serious negotiation going on for some really top class players and I don't just mean could get in the team - top class talent who you could see help us progress up the division over the next two to three years.

Total potential spend this season of around £16m...

Don't want to be proven right but that is no where near enough to compete in this division, I just hope we have some more Cambiasso's/Ulloa's up our sleeve we don't yet know about.

I think even WBA spent more than that and they haven't got a Billionaire in charge.

Who says we need to sign players on a permanent? There's always the loan market...

Besides, West Brom may not be the most attractive proposition in the Premier League, but they've managed to stay in the divison for a couple of years in succession (four years now) and thus profit heavily from TV revenue (£65m last season alone).

He might have been right about a couple of transfers but how on earth could he know the inner workings of Leicester's transfer budget?

I agree. Loans work to a degree but we need to be working towards the long term. Okay, in the case of Defoe, a loan deal may work out best for him due to his contractual agreements in Toronto and also he is now going past his prime and into the twilight years of his career. That, said, £6m for permanent deals? It's admirable what we are trying to do but that don't buy didly squit nowadays in this league.

The positions I think we should be looking at are; at least one new Striker, CB, LB, another solid midfielder with a little something different - so there's four potentials already. I just don't want us to go down trying to stand by our good intentions when we now have the resources to go after stuff (especially in light of the events of recent days).

Not just 'some journo' though. He's rarely wrong about us.

It says our budget is £6m, and then says a 'probable' signing will cost us £8m. Now I'm no mathematician, but something tells me this article isn't entirely accurate.
