NYE

Pirate Bar was ****ing terrible. Literally the worst bar I've ever been in.

Market Tavern has more atmosphere.

House party here. I hate going out for nye, dickheads, extortionate prices, tickets just to get in standard bars, huge queues to get a beverage, all for really just a standard night in town you'd have any other day.

Give me a house party any day. Cheapest night you'll get, people you actually like, your own choice of music (or near enough), your own choice of beer, smoking inside, optional herbal substances without risk of ejection, what's not to like?

Day to day you're probably right, was alright that night though. I prefer Firebug but I struggle to find pubs with good music.

I've given up caring about the music. I used to but I really don't like firebug anymore. Full of kids, terrible beer, fairly expensive shorts, always packed, the worst toilets in Leicester (not that that's a major factor when I pick a bar but still.)

Food is tasty though, I often go in during the day for a sandwich and a chill on the sofas but it's crap at night.

Quite liking the new look Queen of Bradgate and Café Bruxelles is growing on me. As much as I like Taps, it's always heaving.

What is Heebies like then mate? Music wise, people wise, beer wise? Think that's where we might be heading.

It varies. There's 3 floors for a start and they're basically all different places in terms of atmosphere an music an people. The basement can be mental, watch out for the low bricks and beams on the roof trust me they are painful to headbutt. The music is usually sound, hip hop/funk/dance but not poor commercialised current dance. As for beers downstairs it's just cheap bottles an stuff, not exactly premier ales.

Your middle and most popular floor is great. Sound djs who'll take a request or two, music varies from indie to 70s to whatever is requested. Think Arctic monkeys followed by fleetwood Mac and then maximo park followed by biggie. Cocktails on the go there, maybe a bit more expensive than downstairs and your average choice of ales in bottles. The middle floor also has a huge courtyard for smokers, you can sit out under cover or stand in the middle and hear the music from that floor. Usually a boss atmosphere out there when it's busy.

Top floor is more daytime but I assume it'll be open, more of a lounge area with better choice of booze.

Be prepared to queue for a bit tho, usually the basement queue is smaller but every now and then they try an sting you with paying into the basement and when you try an get up the stairs (to skip the queue) try and charge you again. think it's only a few quid entry mind. Up and down that road is where I'll usually go town, heebies, bar bodega, aloha etc are all within 2 minutes and all have similar vibes and aren't full of *****. Few posers in aloha because you can buy drinks in pineapples with sparklers and stuff so they love putting pics o that on Instagram the next day but avoid them and the bar queues and its good stuff.

Its the most overrated night out going. Surely you're better off going out tomorrow night instead and having a house party NYE.

Stopping with the parents and I need to be sober NYD as I'm Des for the trip to Liverpool.

This.

I went out last night for a few beers and a curry.

Tonight i'm going for a meal with my family then round to my mates for a house party.

Think bars will struggle this year, everone seems to finally be coming to the conclusion NYE in town is overpriced, overrated and quite simply shite - alot of people have said it for years but even more people I know are saying it this year and voting with their feet and not bothering.
