Krakow is a wonderful place for a trip.

Polish people are so nice. The city is full of history and the café vibe is outstanding. Food and drink is great and not expensive. Lots to see away from the city as well.

We went for our godson's wedding before covid and we couldn't have had a better time.

Decided to take a week off in May and going to Rome for 4 nights.

Been plenty of times before but mostly Lazio, Roma games with a bit of sightseeing.

I fancy going full on tourist, history buff this time with hopefully some sunshine.

Decent priced flights, out East Mids back Luton for circa £100.

Have you been to Trastavere before? Just outside of the centre of Rome and if you go in the evening its brilliant.

No but's on my list. Not booked a hotel yet, so may look towards there.

Got back from Dubrovnik yesterday, beautiful place. Got lucky with the weather for this time of year, pleasant and comfortable. Couldn't imagine doing all that walking in the heat of summer and with the crowds. Still a few people about but not overwhelming. Not a lot open this time of year in Lapad area and Cavtat but still beautiful walks and views.

Not cheap for beer though.

We went to Salou in 2024 with our then 2 year old and had a good time.

Did a few days out on the bus to Reus/Tarragona, and the places are fairly well set up for families.

It's a big area lol Depends where you're thinking of going. Like anywhere really, just decide what you want and choose accordingly. Tarragona for example is lovely, full of history and lovely places to eat, it's one of our favourite places in Spain

Excellent thanks.

You think it would still be pool weather late September?

Yes September is still normally very warm in Spain, at least typically warmer than the warmest day in the UK in August, but not too hot to walk about. It's probably a very good time to go, still beautiful weather but fewer tourists

Gdansk is lovely. Beware that if you order a traditional breakfast, you get vodka!

any tips to get a "cheap" summer holiday?

We don't want to spend much this year and we will go anywhere pretty much for a week for some sun, planning to go to a travel agent two weeks before we plan to go and ask them what last minute deals they have. Do last minute cheaper deals even exist like they used to? anyone had success with this?

Thinking of finding a price online first then going in and see if they can better it

You can't really go wrong with Poland.

Although I will say once you are past the top five tourist cities, the cities are not the richest for things to do. I repeatedly tell people Wroclaw is incredibly under-rated.

Just got back from Seville earlier this week and a similarly depressive feeling being back here!

Cracking city, really enjoyed Seville.

I'm going Krakow next month. Been to Wroclaw and Warsaw. First time to Krakow though.

Planning a long weekend trip to Venice in mid-May and staying just outside the city in Marcon, so I’ll be commuting in by train each day.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations on must-see places, great spots to eat, and any tips or things to be aware of before visiting.

London (Marylebone) next week. Got tickets for Interstellar with live orchestra at Royal Albert Hall. Plenty of pubs, got a nice dinner booked. One or two touristy items for the missus.

Not the most exciting itinerary on paper, but after a bumpy couple of years for her, it's a destination she likes, with a favored hotel and lots of familiarity. Very much looking forward to it.

Maybe check out the Stag's Head for next Friday's match, if that's still the preferred destination?

I felt the same when I went to Italy recently. I know Bergamo well but to go there and see their high streets thriving on a Sunday night made me jealous.

Nice one, that will be class. I’m at the Royal Albert hall tonight for Garbage and Placebo.
