Vicki Vixen Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 One of the hardest positions to fill. There are very few decent left backs who aren't already playing for a better team than us. While I would love Walsh and his scouting team to find a gem, reality is we probably will end up sticking with Konchesky or playing a RB out of position for the rest of the season.

A loan deal would probably suit both parties. If we're gonna go with an untested academy prospect, may as well just use one of our own. Chilwell is very highly thought of here.

Passing game still way off standard for this league Surely his distribution could be improved through coaching though? This is what I don't understand. Half the time all he needs to do is just knock it 5 yards to one of our midfielders instead of doing his trademark chip down the left wing. I can't imagine it that hard to learn. So frustrating. On a side note, I was impressed with his celebration on Saturday, he didn't go round cupping his ears at fans or putting a finger over his mouth when, let's face it, he has took some shit off fans recently. True pro.

FT is so hung up on Konch but as he showed against Villa (not that it takes a Roberto Carlos-like performance to look good against Villa), he can be a solid option at LB. I hope he continues to play like he did on Saturday. It's not like the world is awash with elite LBs who are available.

Did you actually watch that game? Great goal and aside from two giveaways (which was better than our CMs) that didn't cost anything, he was rock solid.

Konchesky picked himself back up on Saturday but if we was to get injured/drop out of form then we only have De Laet available as cover, maybe Schlupp in a few weeks but I'd like an out and out LB to provide cover and compete for the spot.
