Jamie Woods10 Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 how would you feel if it was your bet?I have advised him to approach the press to see if they might publicise his lost bet. Hoping the bookies might take pity. Fat chance, I know'Winning' betting slipHave you ever seen a bet cruelly snatched away from you? What were your circumstances?
DennisNedry Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Jesus, what an utterly terrible decision and I can't imagine how sickening it must have been for the bloke when the goal was ruled out.
Samilktray Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 These are the risks you take when you gamble.
Kitchandro Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 These are the risks you take when you gamble. True. All is fair in gambling, I suppose. Then again, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't feel cheated if this happened to me. Although to flip it once again, he's a Spurs fan so fvck him. I doubt he feels as bad as I do about some of the decisions Leicester have had against them this season.
ScouseFox Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 unlucky. but if the bookies paid out on every wrong decision there'd be no bookies left
Tom's Pasta Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Horrible, this happened to me but on a much smaller scale and I was fuming!
Strokes Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 If he had bet on 2-1 and the goal going in would spoil his bet, would he hand his winnings back?..........there you go.
Guest Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Gambling is gambling. When did it ever have to be fair?
Rincewind Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 If the goal was disallowed then it wasn't officially a goal. They are the rules. How would you feel if you went to collect your winnings and the bookie said i think the referee got a goal decision wrong so I'm not paying out on it. The referees decision is final regardless on how shit it is. Until they have rules to reverse the refs decisions you are stuck with it. He did not lose £2600, it was £15.
Bayfox Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 harsh but deal with it. as post above says. he lost his stake not 2.5k I cashed out on a bet at ht yesterday for 60 quid profit as I was being let down by one team and decided 60 quid was 60 quid. I could have won 200. but I won't cry about it.
Fox92 Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Ouch. Harsh but that's gambling. I was in the casino a few months back and 17 came out three times in a row, then another number, then 17 again (so 17, 17, 17, /, 17). Never seen anything like it.
Unabomber Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 What's man doing betting £15 on a Vertonghen 3-1 score cast anyway.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 I once put £20 on Iain Hume first scorer city to win 4-0 against Watford. It was 50-1 and we were winning 4-0 and Marlon King scored a 92nd minute penalty after diving! Still pisses me off today.
bovril Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 The only time one of these has ever come of for me was Izzet and 2-1 vs Chelsea in 2001. I remember my (non City supporting) friend sitting next to me in the Carling stand being surprised that I wanted Leicester to score a 3rd and make the game safe.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 The goal didn't stand so the bookies are correct to not pay out...

There's a difference between losing something, and losing out on something.
Rincewind Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Would it be any different if it was wrong decision over a penalty, a corner or free kick? Bad decisions are part of the game. They even out over time but sometimes it doesn't seem like it to supporters who think the ref favours the opposition. With the bet it isn't yours unless you win and in your pocket. Someone somewhere got paid out on a 2-1 scoreline and would be none too happy if they were refused a payout based on what might have been.
Darkon84 Posted 21 January 2015 Posted 21 January 2015 Sure I saw something on Facebook about a guy over the weekend who had two 14 fold accumulators on. He cashed out both of them at 70 minutes for a total of £85. The annoying thing is, they then both rolled in and he would have won around £45,000 OUCH. I was 1 result off from around £100,000 from an 18 match accumulator a few years ago. It was when QPR were absolutely smashing the championship and Scunthorpe were rock bottom. QPR went away to Scunthorpe, failed to win, and as a result, almost brought me to tears . EDIT: Scunthorpe 4-1 QPR 9th April 2011 Alan Knill's first game in charge for Scunthorpe Also on the same day, Diomansy Kamara scored on his debut for us in a 4-0 win against Burnley
Dan Posted 21 January 2015 Posted 21 January 2015 What about all the people that bet 2-1 and won? My exact thoughts.
Leeds Fox Posted 21 January 2015 Posted 21 January 2015 For the sake of £85, I'd let it run. If the total win would've been around £150, then maybe a cash out would be sensible, but with potential winnings of £45k, surely it makes sense to let it run. Who puts on a 14fold acca, to try and win £85?!
