davieG Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 MOTD: Football highlights show to remain on BBC television The BBC has renewed its deal to show Premier League highlights on Match of the Day for a further three years, until the end of the 2018-19 season. The agreement covers MOTD's Sunday morning repeat, MOTD2, Football Focus and a new midweek show on Wednesday nights on BBC Two and BBC Two HD. Barbara Slater, Director BBC Sport, says MOTD, in its 50th year, is "the most iconic brand in television sport". MOTD, together with MOTD2, has a weekly audience of nine million.

linemakers Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Gary Linaker is going to BT Sport to cover champions league, leaving the door open for Adrian Chiles to do Match of the day, HELP
jammie82uk Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 hopefully the deal will include iplayer as well
Fox92 Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Good. It would be a sad day if Match of The Day left the BBC.
iamafox Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Remember the days when ITV showed 'The Premiership'.
Fox92 Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Remember the days when ITV showed 'The Premiership'. Yes. Weren't we on it for that one season!?
Basingstoke Fox Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Remember the days when ITV showed 'The Premiership'. All I remember from that is that it was terrible and that there was a fat Birmingham fan in the opening credits with massive glasses celebrating. Bad times!
iamafox Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Yes. Weren't we on it for that one season!? We were on it for two seasons and got relegated from both of them.
The Doctor Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Good news, particularly proper midweek highlights as well if i'm reading that right.
Gary Eatfood Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 I think MOTD should be enshrined and protected by the broadcasting act similar to Wimbledon and the Grand National.
Leicesterpool Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Remember the days when ITV showed 'The Premiership'. That was such a crap show, also 'The championship' I remember.
Foxhateram Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 'The premiership' It started with a football in the clouds (which I thought was ironic) then "it's a beautiful day......" Blared out. Not the music you wanted to hear on a day when you had lost. Football should not be plagued by adverts, nothing worse then a game or highlights on ITV.
Larry_LCFC Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Gary Linaker is going to BT Sport to cover champions league, leaving the door open for Adrian Chiles to do Match of the day, HELP It would be a joint contract so he could also do BBC.
Tuna Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Thank goodness for that. I still have nightmares about the ghastly ITV Premiership show and the fooking tactics truck.
deejdeej Posted 30 January 2015 Posted 30 January 2015 Good, ITV and football do not go hand in hand.
